We live in Cary N.C. but love the Blue Ridge Mountains. Long term plans are to retire to the mountains. Until then, we would like to share this wonderful place with others.
Myra purchased this house in 2002
We love the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We believe it is one of the best kept secrets on the Blue Ridge Parkway. This beautiful home is located in a scenic area in the Doe Run Resort. We enjoy getting away from the hustle and bustle.
This home in a beautiful mountain setting, with wonderful events, activities and attractions nearby. We discovered Doe Run while on our Honeymoon in 2001.
Location was great! House was fully stocked with any and everything you wouldn't pack. (all you need to bring is what, if anything, you want to cook) House was CLEAN, welcoming, warm, stocked with games and even a game room for some pool. We will be returning with our mothers this fall. We took our children and grandchildren with us last fall. Close to everything. Amazing place.
This is not your typical vacation rental. It is truly like being at home. The furnishings are of good quality and it is well appointed. The home is very spacious and will accommodate families but is also a cozy get away for couples. The kitchen has upgraded appliances and is fully stocked. The beds are quite comfortable. There is a fireplace and two stoves (all gas and easy to use). The sun room has all new windows and with the stove it is warm and comfortable when the temperatures start to drop.
It is situated on a large lot so those who enjoy a game of football will have plenty of room to play!
We enjoyed our stay at this lovingly maintained home.
I have stayed here several times and have always had a wonderful time. The house is immaculately kept, comfortable, with truly all the conveniences of home in a beautiful vacation setting. The furnishings are considerably above what you would expect to encounter in a vacation home. My favorite is the large sun porch, which overlooks a yard with lots of landscaping- perfect for reading, breakfasting, or just enjoying the view. As another reviewer said, the house is more spacious than the picture shows, with a big den, a fireplace, and comfortable bedrooms. You can open the windows for a quiet, peaceful night's sleep- private without feeling isolated. Highly recommended!
I stayed here for a weekend getaway and for a weekend workshop/retreat. It was lovely. So much solitude and yet there are other homes nearby so I didnt feel so isolated that it was scary. :o)
The home is great. Dont let the outside fool you! It is big. My favorite thing, other than the fireplace is the huge window that looks out over the grassy area going to the woods. I sat there with coffee and watched tons of wildlife.
Just a really peaceful property. Sleeps a lot of people.
I have visited this mountain home more than once. It is a lovely, well equipped home. I have been there for solitude and with family to vacation. It is a wonderful, peaceful setting that is just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. From here you can visit Mt. Airy, NC (Mayberry, RFD), Chateau Morrisette Winery, Mabry Mill, and other parkway attractions. Or you can simply hike the mountain or enjoy the clear mountain air.
This home is well decorated and comfortable. It offers seperate spaces for TV viewing, playing pool or being quiet all at the same time. If you have a multi-generational family this is the ideal place to be anytime of the year.
My family and I needed to get away for a relaxing weekend and this was exactly what we needed. Being so close to Mt Airy we were able to go and visit the places that Andy Griffith put in his show. My children and I enjoyed the pool table the whole time we were there. My wife and I were able to relax and have a wonderful with God in this beautiful setting. I highly recommend this place.
