Contemporary one Bedroom, pied d’terre, one bath, kitchen, Queen size bed, internet access located in the Palm Beach Hotel Condominium at 235 Sunrise Avenue, a National Historic Landmark. Beautiful veranda, gardens, pool, one and half blocks to the beach, between the Breakers and the Biltmore, two blocks from Royal Poinciana and bike/walking trail, Publix across the street with deli takeout, convenient walk to a dozen excellent restaurants and cafes, banks, pharmacy, night life, French pastry shops, bike/moped rentals, churches and synagogues. Use Uber a ten minute ride from West Palm Beach International Airport. Three Day minimum, rent by the week, month or season; rates progressively reduced the longer you stay. Use Uber for travel anywhere in Palm Beach County. High speed train service to Ft. Lauderdale and Miami opens in 2017.

Palm Beach is an American version of the Cote d’Azur, except here the weather is better. It is safe and secure walking any time of day. High season is December to April. But even in the Summer the climate is tempered by ocean breezes. Frommer’s Travel Guide describes it as follows:

“…Palm Beach, the small island town across the Intracoastal Waterway, that has been the traditional winter home of America's aristocracy -- the Kennedys, the Rockefellers, the Pulitzers, the Trumps, titled socialites, and plenty of CEOs. For a perspective on what it means to put on the ritz, there is no better place than Palm Beach, where teenagers cruise around in their parents' Rolls-Royces while socialites seem to jump out of the glossy pages of society magazines and into an even glitzier real life. It's something to be seen, despite the fact that some may consider it all over the top and, frankly, obscene….”

My one bedroom is located in the heart of this Oasis. It is fully furnished, includes a kitchen area with utensils, heating plates, microwave, compact refrigerator, coffee maker, plates, glasses, A/C, one bath/shower/toilet, all utilities, cable Flat Screen Smart TV and all hotel amenities. It’s on the third floor convenient to the two elevators, ice maker, and includes maid service once a week. The studio is non-smoking and the hotel does not allow pets. The hotel has a convenient laundry room with coin operated washer and dryers in the basement. Phone for local calls at $2.00/day if you are not using your cell and wireless DSL.

Frommer further describes our Hotel as:

“An excellent and affordable alternative right in the middle of Palm Beach's commercial section is a condominium that operates as a hotel, too..... this clean and comfortable place for accommodations is a great option for those looking for the rare bargain in Palm Beach.”

This unit is perfect for a single person or couple. If you don’t want to pay for or can’t afford a room at the Breakers, the Chesterfield or the Brazilian Court, my condo unit is the best bargain on Palm Beach. The PBH Condo is newly renovated and has all the facilities offered at the pricey luxury alternatives. Mediterranean Revival in architecture, a beautiful heated outdoor pool set in a tropical garden, a classic loggia perfect for resting and relaxation overlooking Sunrise, new restored hotel lobby, mezzanine, library, all with high speed DSL wireless connected throughout, 24 hour staffed reception desk, on site management and AC throughout all common areas. You don't need a car, but if you come with one, and if you do not want to park on the street, an off street parking space can be arranged for a fee. The studio unit is not handicap accessible.

I am retired and have lived on Cape Cod for the last 40 years. I bought this Condo because it is in a great location, beautiful building, with access to all kinds of conveniences, the beach and bike path, the resources I love. And it is so easy to get there quickly from any major airport. Some unit owners live there year round and others for the season, and they are all so friendly and helpful. During the winter, I live in central Mexico so I rent this property out.

Quiet, Clean, and Affordable Accommodations on Palm Beach

My husband and I stayed on Palm Beach for 1 week. Our accommodations were perfect. The room was clean and the hotel was very quiet. The pool and the gardens were beautiful. We were centrally located to the beach, the beautiful lake trail, and to restaurants as well as Publix. We enjoyed day trips to Jupiter Island, Juno Beach, Miami, and the Everglades. We would definitely stay here again.

Stayed 3-nights in early February 2016

The room is quite ‘cozy’ and the doors, trim, hardware and the electrical retrofitting is in keeping with the quaintness of the 1926 hotel, but it works; after all you’re only sleeping there. Window opens to an interior roof if you desire fresh air … the neighbor’s cat will be out there watching you. If you’re a lite sleeper, bring ear plugs as the AC/Heat unit is next to the bed, but everything works perfectly.

The Publix grocery store is a 90-second walk away. You can get many meals and a bottle of wine there and eat back in the room to save $$. Buy plastic utensils/plates/cups unless you want to wash the dishes provided in the very small bathroom sink. Leave what you don’t use for the next person. Ice machine and elevators are down the hall and noise from the hall was negligible.

The front desk provided me with a car service they recommend, and it worked terrific … there is absolutely no need for a vehicle of your own if you’re staying around town. I highly suggest renting a bike from the rental co. that’s attached to the hotel and explore. Don’t miss a visit to the Breakers and their aquarium bar! Many restaurants within an easy 2-3 block walk. Check out the neighborhood using maps.google.com satellite & street views. Breakfast or lunch at Green’s pharmacy is a must.

The only gripe to the place was a worn (but clean) queen bed mattress, and, the retrofitted shower head is actually a hand-held sprayer held on a suction mount that didn’t want to stay pointing upwards for someone tall like me … that should be replaced with something more durable and directable. Otherwise, the place is exactly as advertised, and priced right for the area.

The photos are very misleading

I would give 5 stars for the location and the building itself - you could really feel the history and is stunning. The room/studio itself requires work, maintenance and cleaning. Unfortunately this site doesn't allow to post pictures. The room is small, so the ceiling is a very prominent feature, which is covered in patches, cracks and and more cracks. The wall and the smoke detector is covered in dust, clumps of dust. The bathroom ceiling has water damage and cracks. The windows of the room are coming out onto the roof - which makes leaving windows open very safe, so the room gets stuffy. I really wish you could post the pictures, to show just how different our experience ended up from the pictures posted.

Owner's Response: The pictures are representative of the studio condo. While the room is small, it is cozy, convenient to everything and secure. There is regular maid service. The property manager informs me that the guest declined daily maid service and never reported a dust problem to her front desk. The room is air conditioned so it isn’t necessary to leave the windows open. The resources of the hotel…pool, veranda, gardens are wonderful. The location is fabulous. The hotel is ninety years old. The studio does have a high ceiling and I have directed the hotel manager to re-surface the ceiling. Ceiling tiles in the bathroom have been replaced. I have asked the property manager to deal with dust issues, if any, and she assures me they are resolved.

Convenient and functional

On the small side, this apartment has all that is needed for a short comfortable stay on the island. The hotel is clean, safe and conveniently located near to the ocean, the lake, the Publix and the French bakery.

Charming and Convenient

Cozy, comfortable, convenient.

This studio apartment contained all the necessities for an extended stay and was particularly convenient to the ocean, the lake trail, restaurants and a grocery store. The hotel's staff was excellent and the entire setting was very secure. We spoke to and emailed the owner a number of times and he was very helpful and accomodating. As rookies at VRBO, we didn't quite know what to expect, but we were not disappointed in any way.
