The cottage feels like you are at a cabin up in Maine. It has a rustic feel and it is on a quiet lake where time seems to have been forgotten. It is literally right on the water, as you can see in the pictures. The waterfront cottage has 2 bedrooms with queen beds. It has a spacious living room with a wood stove. The large screened-in porch is a favorite place for meals overlooking the water. The kitchen is fully stocked and ready, just bring your food. There is a gas grill and two outdoor fire pits which also overlook the water.

T Kayaks and a canoe are provided for your use at no additional charge. If you choose, we have a hot tub rental for $100 or less, and a paddleboard rental for just $20, for your entire stay. The tub sits over the water and under the stars, or enjoy a campfire with firewood provided at no charge. Also included are horseshoes, internet, DVD player, basic TV, a few lawn games and indoor board games. Most guest choose to bring their own towels and linens for the 2 queen beds and 1 full bed. They can be provided, upon request, for $15 per person.

The cottage is removed from noise and bustle on the quite, beautiful lake, but it is still just a 10 minute drive from Mystic-- a favorite tourist town, 5 area wineries, the Connecticut Shoreline, and 5 minutes from Foxwoods casino. Take a walk or a bike ride along the coast, through Mystic, or in the woods such as up Lantern Hill. You can also enjoy activities in Westerly, Mystic, and New London such as weekly free outdoor summer concerts or other attractions at

If dates are full or if you are looking for a second rental nearby for a family and friends, please check out our other cottage on this same lake. The listing is HomeAway #3945127 to see pictures and reviews.

About Karen and Bobby

The picture above is of Bobby and his family back in 1976 being children enjoying the lake. His grandparents bought the cottage back in 1955, and now three generations later the cottage is an ever more special place for us, and we very much enjoy our family's vacation each year at the lake. It means a lot to me to hear from guests about good family time and nice quality time for couples.

What makes this cottage unique

Included in the lakeside house are kayaks, canoe, large Huck Finn style raft to swim off of or to explore the lake and the connecting lake. There are two campfire areas and a propane grill, horseshoes, badmitten in the yard. All are included in the price of the cottage. If you bring your fishing rod, the fishing is great. We also allow you to bring your dog along to enjoy the lake. The cottage is great for family activities and for relaxing meals and sunsets.

Can't wait to come back!

  • 5 of 5

This was are first time staying at the home and it was amazing. Peace and quiet is what we were looking for and boy did we get it. When arriving we were greeted by the owner bob who was very nice and patience to show us around the home. We brought our dog which was great since we did not have to pay to have her boarded. The views from inside the home and dock were breath taking. We can not wait to stay at the house again. Thank you bob for letting us have a stay of a lifetime.

This cottage needs some attention.

  • 2 of 5

I stayed here based on the reviews, and I'm writing this review because I felt disappointed based on these reviews. This property is in an area of very modest, some rundown, older homes. Being on the lake was wonderful, along with the use of the nice kayaks. The bikes need some attention. The cottage itself has screens ripped and in disrepair, most windows have no curtains/blinds, the oven didn't work (the owner was already aware of this), the water pressure in the bathroom sink was terrible, the dining room set was old and mismatched, and the cottage seemed stark/barren with little decorating in mind for a rental. The living area had a nice fireplace, but this room could use some pictures on the wall. I understand this cottage is old, but it could look much better with some repair and interior updating.

Owner's Response: Many people love the old-fashioned, rustic nature of the cottage. The cottage was built in the 1930's. We intentionally keep things old-fashioned because many people have said that they love how it reminds them of a vacation from their childhood. To be sure that our rustic cottage is just right for you, make sure to watch our 7-minute video tour showing everything inside and out of the cottage.

The Privacy, Quiet and Wildlife Exceeded My Expectations!

  • 5 of 5

My small family had a delightful time on Long Pond at this quaint, vintage cottage. You truly feel like you've taken a trip back in time. The rustic, but beautiful living room with fireplace is so relaxing. The screened in porch offers a gorgeous, protected view of the pond. The deck with easy access to the pond was a delight to kayak in and out. It was a joy to see the wildlife, a true sanctuary for them, all around-breathtaking! Lastly, the owner and staff, Bob, Molly and Franee, were attentive, easy to deal with and very nice. If you are looking for an old fashioned, unique experience, I highly recommend!

Amazing place! A hidden gem close to everything

  • 5 of 5

I love this place. My family and I had a wonderful weekend. The cottage is beautiful, and the pictures do not do the view from the back deck justice. The cottage is very cozy and you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, but it is very close to both casinos and Mystic. Stonington Vineyard is also just a short drive away. Overall, I have no complaints and there were no issues with anything. The owner is very friendly and communicates well, and we received two text messages asking if there was anything we needed. The place is easy to find even though we arrived late at night.

I highly recommend this place, and we are already talking about coming back sometime next year.

Cozy Cottage with lots to do!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed here in mid-September and the weather was terrific. We spent a day at the beach and then most of our days on Long Pond using the cottage's kayaks and canoe. We fed swans and fish, did some fishing, and swim a lot! Water was very clear and a nice sandy portion closest to the dock was nice. The cottage was a bit off the beaten path, about 6-10 miles from most things do to in Mystic, Stonington, and Groton. Very close to Foxwoods but not close enough that it is obtrusive, about a 10 minute ride. The porch was great for lunches and watching the pond at night. Overall it was very nice and we would stay again.

Absolutly Beautiful.

  • 5 of 5

The minute my husband and I walked onto this property we were blown away, what a amazing part of Ct. There was so much to do there. Kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and swimming. I cannot say enough about my four days there. I didn't want to leave in was my little piece of heaven. The owner Bob was the nicest man, very pleasant. We are looking forward to visiting next year.
