Why Linda chose Playa Langosta
Beautiful Playa Tamarindo is located in the province of Guanacaste, on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. It is approximately 45 minutes southwest of the Liberia airport (LIR) and a 15 minute ride from the small Tamarindo airstrip. The villa is located at a superb location at the southern end of Tamarindo, between Playa Tamarindo and the immaculate Playa Langosta. A large variety of activities are readily available. The many wonderful restaurants in the area are highlighted by local, as well as European and North American chefs. The atmosphere is always casual, and the food is terrific. Banks and shopping are nearby for all your ATM, grocery, pharmacy and sports needs. Art galleries showcase talented local artists and craftsmen.
What makes this Villa unique
The area is known for its world class surfing and sport fishing. Canopy and zip line tours, rock climbing, white water rafting, kayaking, golf, sailing, beach volleyball, hiking, horseback riding, bird and turtle watching, mountain biking, ATV's, snorkeling, scuba diving, gambling and nightlife can all be enjoyed in Tamarindo or nearby. The well-known volcanoes and rain forests are a short excursion, and of course... don't forget the monkeys!

Great Family Vacation
Enjoyed staying here, nice place. The host was very nice and pleasant, answered all my questions, and gave some good advice on places to eat.
Great Family Vacation
Stayed with husband and 2 children 11 & 8. Very nice, clean well decorated home. Top of the line kitchen appliances and kitchen supplies. Lovely flowers, costa rican coffee and fresh fruit upon our arrival was a welcoming touch! William, the property manager was friendly and thorough in reviewing all the homes features and answering all our questions. We felt very safe in this home and in the Tamarindo area. Gated community with very friendly gate keepers. We would walk to the beach club every morning, about 10-15 minute walk. The beach club is certainly and wonderful addition to this rental, as we spend our entire day there. Swimming, surfing and relaxing by the pool. They offer excellent food & drinks and friendly service. My kids loved the smoothies and milkshakes! Anthony is an amazon bartender! We took the owner Linda's recommendation's on several restaurants and we were not disappointed. Linda was also incredibly attentive in responding to all my questions and concerns via email We would stay here again when we return to Tamarindo.
Great Property, But Not Perfect
I would first like to say that this is a lovely property, the home is tastefully furnished, clean and in a great location - easy walk to the beach and about 15 min walk into Tamarindo either by beach or by the roads. It has all the amenities you need and the plunge pool is welcomed on a hot day. We've stayed on the Point before and this was the first time in this unit. So why the 3 stars? Unfortunately, there was a problem with the septic/sewage system while we were there that resulted in pretty disgusting smells going through the house at various times of the day. While both Linda and William (the on-site manager) were very responsive to our calls, unfortunately, it was still unresolved by the time we left (we were there 9 days). There is also a lot of construction going on in the area (they are fully developing the property on the Point) which could be contributing to the issue - but also note, due to the construction, there is some noise throughout the day - it's not crazy disruptive, but, it's there. Linda had mentioned that they were having an expert check the unit (note: a neighbor in the complex indicated the same issue, so it may be more widespread) to try and resolve it. If you are planning to stay here, you may want to make sure this has in fact been resolved. Otherwise, everything else - no complaints.
Thank you for visiting our home Therese. As I told you before, I am truly sorry for the inconvenience!
For the benefit of future guests: As stated in this review (the only review of our home that was less than 5-STARS), our community had an unfortunate septic system problem during Therese’s visit. The odors were occasional and we worked diligently with an engineer and plumber to alleviate the problem. Repairs are expected to be completed today. ** PLEASE keep this in mind rather than negating our home from your rental options. Regarding construction, we have been told by other guests that the noise is minimal (during daylight hours only)… and certainly minimal compared to the nightlife noise in other Tamarindo rentals. ** As you may have read in our previous reviews (again, all 5-stars), our on-site manager and I respond to our guests quickly and do our very best to make your vacation as relaxed and comfortable as possible. My husband and I appreciate a streamlined vacation when we travel and we work hard to offer our guests a personalized, enjoyable experience. As noted in our reviews, our home is very clean and comfortable, our on-site manager is wonderful, the location is great and the beach club is an added bonus. Thank you for understanding! Linda
Update - 3/19/18: Future guests: The community septic system repair was completed the day of my previous response. I waited a couple of weeks to be certain that the odor is no longer a problem before I posted this update. I’m pleased to report that the problem has been resolved and all is well now. Thank you, Linda
The Villa is spacious, clean, and quite comfortable, with lots of light on all sides. Beds had good firm mattresses, bathrooms were well appointed and A/C worked well (thankfully - it's hot even in December). The plunge pool in the back is a lovely amenity and provides a good, shaded sitting area to read in the mornings. The gardens are lovely, with bougainvillea and other tropical flora on several sides. We also had a nice visit from tropical fauna like iguanas on a few days -- outside the house, of course.
The owners and Willy, the property manager on site, were unfailingly responsive and friendly, and worked closely with us to make sure the stay was excellent and fit our timings.
Location is excellent - only a 12 min walk from Tamarindo town and a five min walk from Langosta Beach "town". Definitely recommend catching the sunset on Langosta Beach.
The other superb aspect of this property is that it comes with membership in the Langosta Beach Club, a seven minute walk on the beach from the Villa (but it's on Tamarindo Beach, not Langosta Beach). That turns out to be a very valuable amenity that comes with the property, as you can sit on a lounge chair or reserve a cabana at their poolside, get food and drinks, have a massage, use the workout room, and generally relax in style and comfort on their long stretch of Tamarindo Beach. They'll even organize tour or other activities if you want to.
So glad that your family enjoyed your vacation. We agree... our property manager and the beach club are wonderful. Thanks again for visiting and for your great review!
Happy New Year!
We loved this place and would go back in heartbeat. The house was fully equipped as if we were at home. The plunge pool was great for morning dips and late night swimming. Lots of birds and Monkeys. Don't expect too much on the internet connection. Still 3rd world
For future guests, here’s an update regarding our internet connection: I’m pleased to report that it’s upgraded now… no longer third world! Thank you, Linda
The house was well equipped and had everything we needed for our stay.
The house is very lovely, in a gated community in an area that is still being developed however there was no disruption to us. The garden is lovely and has a resident iguana. Keeping the lights on in the bathroom is essential as the showers are open at the top and bats will come in at dusk and hang from the light fittings! The little pool is lovely and the free access to the beach club is a great asset. The house is a 5 min walk from the club and a 10min walk from the town although taxis are plentiful if like us you are there in the rainy season.
Thanks so much for your review and helpful tips. My apologies for any inconvenience regarding the bats! For the benefit of future guests, here’s an update: They’re gone! The bats carried their vegetarian dinner from nearby trees into our garden showers for a couple of weeks but we found an easy and safe solution. We installed a shower curtain between the shower and the plant area. The bats fly elsewhere if the curtain is kept closed at night, but guests can enjoy the open feeling of the garden shower during the day.
Thanks again for visiting our home!
