Unit 2002 was perfect for our needs and the staff were very responsive to our minimum requests. We spent many hours relaxing on the lanai, watching and listening to the waves crashing over the rocks no more than 50 feet way. The unit has been recently upgraded and we loved the changes, particularly the white counter tops in the kitchen. It had everything for our needs. One minor issue - we did have trouble getting the tv to work consistently with the universal remote. We finally figured out that if you turn on the remote, then press the on/off button on the tv it would opefrate normally. We suspect the culprit was probably that the remote needed to be changed. However, after locating the Samsung tv remote and adding new batteries we could never get the tv to respond otherwise we would have checked which hdmi channel it was set at. Again no big deal, but it needs to be addressed.

Thanks again for making our trip so memorable. We couldn't have wished for more.

The condo was beautifully furnished and well equipped. The one ting that it really lacked was any sort of instructions on what to do when I left. My daughter rented 2003 and they had explicit instructions, I have rented condos before so I had an idea of what you wanted but it would have been nice to have it written down. I also appreciated the chairs that she had in her condo. You did not have any.

The location was beautiful.

Paradise found

This condo was a dream come true. There were six of us aged 8 to 78, everyone was happy. The complex is well maintained with all that one could ask for. If you love the sound of the surf, this is the place.

Convenient location with terrific views and amenities.

  • 4 of 5

Had a very relaxing and comfortable stay. We visit the west side of the Big Island at least once a year (for the past 12 years). We usually rent houses so this was a bit of a change. We've stayed in Puako, Waikaloa, Kailua and Kealakekua Bay. This was a very convenient location for a condo stay with great views and amenities. We will definitely consider this location in the future should we require a condominium.

Very good unit with housekeeping issue

  • 4 of 5

We have stayed in at least 6 different units at Kanaloa over the last 13 years or so. This unit, 2002,which we just occupied recently, was the second unit we stayed in with friends in about 2004. It has been upgraded recently and is well appointed. It's approach is shady and private and is about 60 ft from the surf. The lanai has close to a 180 degree view of the ocean and is in the shade until mid afternoon. We had an issue with the housekeeping agreement related to supplies and being precharged for interim cleaning, which is fairly routine, which didn't happen. Both Aloha Condos and the owner apologized for the miscommunication and we were credited for that charge. The only items needing attention was a loose fitting kitchen faucet which had no affect on function and 2 binoculars available that need replacing, probably victims of the salty, humid air

January stay Condo 2002

  • 4 of 5

Great condo- View fantastic, quiet, well furnished and equipped. Unfortunately, freezer was not working for the entire 10 day stay. Also, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker all are on same 15 amp circuit- blew breaker, but could not find it behind painting. Note would help! Finally got help from Condo manager. Moved toaster to counter by sink to prevent re-occurance. Over-all very nice Condo.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a great time exploring the island from our temporary home. The condo was spacious and clean with nice Zen touches. We loved siting on the lanai and hearing the ocean throughout the day. We used the binoculars to check for dolphins which we saw one afternooon. The condo had boogie boards, towels, and a cooler we used for the beach (also some pails, etc. for younger kids). The second bedroom had 2 beds so our kids (boy and girl) each had their own bed. There were ceiling fans in all the rooms so we could cool the condo off when it was warm. We paid for the air conditioning and we did use it about half the nights b/c of humidity, but tried to limit it, partly because we liked to hear the ocean and feel the breeze when there was one. There was some equipment in the closet of the 2nd bedroom for smaller children (a high chair I think, and some toys, possibly a playpen). I like having a washer and dryer (detergent provided) so we didn't have to bring as many clothes with us. There were also some games and Dvd's available which was great. There were several books available for reading and with info. on the Big Island for helping plan what you wanted to do. My husband loved playing the ukelele! He plays the violin at home so it was great for him to have an instrument available to play. We really like this condo and felt very relaxed there.
