After a successful career in Dallas advertising, I returned home to Little Rock to enjoy the charm of this exciting city with its vast historic district. I opened Rosement Bed & Breakfast and once it was established, I followed my heart's desire which is guest cottages. I love the lifestyle of the neighborhood, the slower pace of inn keeping, and the joy of staying home and having a wonderful world of guests come to me.
Susan Maddox purchased this cottage in 2008
Urban life has a special energy and enjoyment that isn't often offered in Bed & Breakfast and Vacation Rentals. I wanted to live this life and I thought there would be a lot of other travelers who would love it as much as I do. Well preserved and restored historic property is very special and it is a joy that I wanted many to share with me.
A calm, peaceful setting in the middle of a bustling city. We are minutes away from UAMS, two other area hospitals, the business district, the River Market, Clinton Library, plus the Hillcrest and Heights areas ... restaurants, clubs, museums, shopping ... the world within ten minutes!
Susan, this is an awesome weekend. Your Barkley Cottage was beautiful and it was wonderful. We got to spend quality time with our family. Hope we can come again.
Susan, the innkeeper, has done it again! My first time to stay in one of the beautiful cottages in the heart of downtown Little Rock. We planned a little group of friends get together, it was warm, welcoming, comfortable. We cooked, we visited, we laughed together. A great getaway place for couples or friends. Highly recommended! Five stars for sure!
My husband & I needed to be in Little Rock for a week on a business trip, and we wanted to bring our two Basenjis who don't board very well for that length of time. We had never been to Little Rock before, and found this the IDEAL place to stay for charm, convenience to everything, and a great taste of the Quapaw historic district - very close to the governor's mansion - whether you bring your pet(s) or not. I initially booked the Winslow cottage thinking it had a small kitchen, but then called the owner, Susan, to verify that, and upon learning that I wanted to cook some while there, she offered to move us up to the Hayward cottage, which does have a full kitchenette with a range, at no extra charge! I took her up on the offer, and I’m thrilled that I did. We LOVED our apartment, which is really what it is - a one bedroom pied-à-terre with a lovely private fenced-in garden in back that was perfect for the dogs, and a cozy but very generous amount of living space for 2 adults. It would be great for even a small family of 3 or 4. So much better than a hotel!!! If we need to stay in Little Rock again, I will be booking the Hayward cottage at the Rosemont. And it’s an unbelievable value for all that you get!
Inn is warm and welcoming without being precious or stuffy. Charming owner. Easy going. Loves pets! Stay in the "big house" or rent one of the cottages for a little more space. You can't go wrong. Rosemont is fabulous!
We always stay at Rosemont B&B when we are in Little Rock. Our first choice is the Barkley cottage, where we have created many family memories over the past 14 years. The minute you enter the cottage, you feel as if you have lived there all your life. The decor is soothing and homey, the layout is convenient and spacious, it is always clean and cozy. I could say the same thing for all the rooms at the Inn, but we love the Barkley best because it can accomodate all our family members.
There is a formal living and dining room, a family sized kitchen, two large bedrooms and baths. The sheets are silky soft, the beds are comfy and the neighborhood is filled with beautiful old homes, so a walk is always pleasurable and safe. We also enjoy sitting in the fenced back yard, where we have shared many take-out dinners in the summer moonlight. Rosemont has all the modern conveniences, while still allowing the guests to step back in time to a slower, more genteel pace. A feeling of serenity envelopes the enitre property, as if you are visiting a beloved family member. There are times when we'd rather stay at the cottage than roam around Little Rock, curled up with a book or just talking with loved ones.
Susan, the gracious Innkeeper, is always fun to visit with and she goes out of her way to accomodate any special needs we may have with international flights, our pets or grandchildren. Her Southern breakfasts are fantastic---generous, delicious and everything is home made.
My husband says "The only thing wrong with the Barkley is when we have to leave."
Last week, Little Rock was hit by a storm that closed the airport. All hotels were booked; the roads virtually impassable. We found this place, and are very glad we did. Although we did not see the cottages, the main house is gorgeous, the rooms artfully furnished, and the beds comfortable. The owner offers a wealth of humor, wit, and graciousness. A great stay in a very stressful time.
My lover and I stayed in the Garden Cottage at the Rosemont the night before he left for a two month exploration of the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica! Neither of us would feel comfortable in a hotel room, so I was thrilled to find an affordable alternative. We felt at home upon arrival. It was so clean! It was just minutes from the Taj Mahal Indian restaurant, and the kitchenette had everything we needed to enjoy takeout. Next time we will take the time to enjoy some tea out on the balcony the next morning. I will definitely check the Rosemont first when needing a place to stay in Little Rock. Just 12 minutes from the airport!
Little Rock's Downtown Historict District just minutes from the South Main and River Market Districts, Clinton Library, Verizon ... the business, entertainment and medical center of the city.
