My wife and I live and work in Redmond, WA. We have 3 kids, 2 girls and a boy between the ages of 8 and 12. We are a young, active couple that love to play outdoors and show our children the joy of being outdoors. We ski, bike, kayak, fish, hike, etc. and love our cabin for these activities.
Ransom Cosper purchased this cabin in 2005
Our cabin is just outside Roslyn, WA (where they filmed the TV show 'Northern Exposure') and it's a short drive from our house in Redmond, which allows us to use it frequently and have immediate access to all the outdoor activities we love to do. Just 1.5 hours from our door to the cabin.
Most importantly, it's amazing family time. When we're at the cabin we don't worry about all of the projects, etc. that our house demands. We can just enjoy each other and honestly, our best memories are from those times spent there. Other than that, we get to hike, bike, fish, swim, ski, snowmobile, etc. We slow down and relax!
I booked a two night stay at the cabin to recharge my batteries and get ready for a new job. The cabin was exactly what I had hoped for. It is located on top of a tall hill, in a free-flowing neighborhood dotted with pretty cabins, about a 5 minute drive from Cle Elum Lake. The area is tranquil, serene, and very quiet. The kitchen is equipped with everything you might possibly need - you can tell that the owners truly enjoy cooking there. Some reviewers have complained about needing to clean up the cabin but I didn't mind that part at all - it was not a surprise and it made me feel like I was taking care of my own place in the mountains. In a way, it authenticated the experience for me.
The owners were very responsive when I had a brief problem with the water. Unbeknownst to me or the owners, there was some work done on a waterline at the bottom of the mountain, which affected the water distribution on the cabins above. I ended up with no cold/hot water for a few hours but the owner was very quick to respond (even though it was close to 10pm) and troubleshooted the issue creatively. In the end, it proved to be just a minor inconvenience that I forgot about the following morning but it showed me that the owners are very concerned about their guests and willing to go the extra mile to make their stay as seamless as possible.
We were very impressed with the property and cabin. We were able to relax and enjoy our stay.
We wanted to explore the mountains between Seattle and Walla Walla in a woodsy place that was accessible from Seattle but also well out into the trees - this was perfect. This is clearly a home that the family uses regularly and so maintains in the condition that they want to have it. Lots of little perks like well thought out guides to trails and walks and restaurants as well.
We had a great time at the cabin, snowmobile right from the front door to the trail head just down the road! The cabin was very cozy and well decorated! The owners were very nice people and prompt on responding to our questions. I would highly recommend this cabin if your into activities the outdoors have to offer!
Had a wonderful short weekend at the Casper Cabin in the midst of winter snow storm. I used the blizzard as an excuse to keep the wood stove stoked most the weekend which really authenticated the experience. I was very happily surprised to find the cabin's kitchen and pantry fully provisioned. Also I was thankful that we arrived during the day as connecting the water would have been tricky in the dark especially with the snow accumulation around the deck. Great cabin destination!
Really enjoyed our stay. The open kitchen, living room area is great so everyone can hangout and cook at the same time. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of kitchenware for our cooking needs. Close to Cle Elum for grocery shopping. Great movie collection!
We did bring our own linens based on previous reviews, which helped us with clean up time.
During the winter you MUST have a Snowmobile to access the cabin the road is shut down till March, the roads are now open for 2016.
