About Bill

My great grandparents traveled from Portugal to the Hawaiin Islands and settled in Maui in the late 1800s. I was born in Maui and reared in Oahu. I went to Farrington High School and graduated when I was 17. I was married the same yr. and also had my first child. By the time I was 21, I had 4 children. I moved to San Diego in 1960, remarried and had my 5th child. I went into Real Estate sales in San Diego and sold RE for 20 yrs. By that time I had several rentals and retired from RE and lived off the income of my rentals. It was hard work

but it paid off in time.

Why Bill chose Kona Coast

My husband Gary loved fishing and when we went to Kona for a vacation, he fell in love with it.

We wanted to build our home here, so we looked for a lot. We both wanted to

be by the ocean, however, it was slim pickings finding a lot on the ocean or by the ocean. We heard about Kona Paradise from a Realtor who showed us our lot. We were so excited because not only was it ocean front but it also was a swimming beach. It is very rare in Kona to have a beach that you can walk into and swim or snorkel without having to cross over sharp lava rocks.

What makes this house unique

It is so wonderful to just sit and listen to the waves washing thru the pebbles on the beach. In the winter time when the surf high, it is such a beautiful sight to see the large waves crashing down on the beach. I love watching the whales as they go by to settle in the coves south of us and birth their calfs before going back up north. I also love to see the dophins that come and visit our cove. My huband and I would anchor our boat in the cove and then go fishing. Just a few miles out we would catch a lot of fish that we'd share with our wonderful friends and nieghbors. Kona Paradise is truly paradise.

Best romantic get away home

  • 5 of 5

Iddilyc! did yoga with the rising sun light through palm trees. Fantastic snorkling is a 30 seconds away walk on their hidden treasure beach. Reading in perfect silence on the comfy lanai chairs...Spectacular sunsets with the sound of the ocean ...private surroundings, meticulously clean home, exotic flowers, lovely sounds of nature,

doves, gekkos.... Never left any food out not to tempt nature and, frankly, we were astounded not to see a single bug the whole week. Incredible, since the lovely house is surrounded by vegetation. Our 3 teenagers were pleased to find snorkel gear (they had 4 pairs of fins, sizes men 8 to 11), many more goggles(12, I think) and tubes sets, and rock shoes too (12 pairs of all sizes). One buggy board, 4 beach chairs, some foamy beach tubes...tons of towels, 3 coolers, weights for snorkling, 2 sets of adult golf clubs...

Very pleasant to have different areas.. played 2 of their many board games: Clue and Mexican train dominoes. Watched our beloved Sherlock Holmes series through Netflix on their big screen, with ample room for all lying down on their L shape couch and two reclyners.

Frankly, the only problem was convincing everyone to leave this rental house to discover the island. We managed to extricate ourselves from this paradise home a couple of times and went efficently about it. Went the lava tube (get there early to be able to park!), walked (can also be biked) the 3 hour roundtrip to the lava flow, walking back under the stars (bring head flashlight). The Two Step Beach with dolphins and turtles is 15 minutes away!

Pillows and towels galore. Very comfy beds in all 3 bedrooms. Nice to find different oils and spices to be used (forgot thosd items when shopped for the week). Very ample assortment of cook ware, including slow cooker and rice cooker (left of fridge, verh back of bottom shelf). Nice free water dispenser and gas for BBQ. Big ceiling fans in every room, including the lanai. Cute lighting on lanai, and plenty of lamps, especially for reading, including on night tables. Nice laundry room with all supplies. Lovely shower in master bedroom. Lots of sliding doors and with mosquito screen and blinds all around.

Loved the big open house layout, huge lanai, the comfort, privacy, proximity to the beach, the beautiful snorkel, sunrises and sunsets. It could not been better for my family.

Best spot on any island!

My only hesitation relative to recommending this great place is that I don't want any more competition getting my dates each year!

Beach Front Solitude

  • 5 of 5

The stay here made the trip to the Big Island a memorable experience. The house is perfectly located with beach front right off the lanai to watch sunsets, whales, and dolphins. The house has all the amenities to provide the comfort of home. Located on the south west side of the island was a perfect base to explore Kona and the volcanos. I am glad we had the opportunity to stay here and will attempt to stay again when we return to the Big Island.

Very quite, secluded, right at beach. Hugh deck w/ view. Far from town & activities.

  • 3 of 5

Great place if want a secluded place right on beach. No air conditioning but right on beach so don't necessarily need it unless really hot. But have to leave doors open which all do not have locks when left open & that's a problem. House has lots of room and everything that you would need but far from town or groceries. Great place if don't want to do much site seeing or traveling from the house. We loved just sitting on the deck enjoying the sounds of ocean and walking down to the water ( very short distance & could wade in the water hear & many swam).

Saw porpoises, boats, scuba divers ect. Liked the Kona area.

Owner's Response: Aloha Margaret, Thank you for your feedback, we really appreciate it. Almost all homes at Kona Paradise have no AC. Fans, cross ventilation and ocean breeze keep the house cool most of the year. All the sliding glass doors have lucks. But the screen doors have no lucks. Our neighborhood is very private and safe, we have never had any problems. We apologize for your inconvenience. Thank you Bill

Simply Awesome

  • 5 of 5

We have visited the island 5 times now and this time we decided to rent a house as we were inviting 2 other couples to join us. The house was perfect with lots of room. The kitchen was stocked with condiments and spices for whatever we needed for cooking. Plenty of supplies in the bathroom to take care of our needs as well.

Every morning we watched the moon set and the sun rise and were blessed with whales passing by day. Spent all our time on the lanai when we were home. The location was ideal for visiting all over the island.

We also were entertained by the geckos. Made friends with a few and gave them names. Bob has no tail and Stubby has a short one. We highly recommend this house for anyone's extended or short stay.

Can't beat the view.

  • 5 of 5

The house was immaculate and fully furnished with everything we needed (and more). We spent 95% of our time on the fabulous lanai, listening to and looking at the ocean. It was too rough to swim during our stay, but the hiking trail along the coast was beautiful and just watching the wave action was great entertainment.
