The house was great -- thanks so much. Loved the heated floors in the bathrooms and wish we discovered those right away! Lots of space, and the odd kind of character that you feel right at home in. It's a great spot and we would like to come back again!'

Quaint family/multi-family home within walking distance to the village.

  • 5 of 5

We had three families, totaling 10 people, and it was not cramped in the least. The kitchen was a perfect size to cook large dinners and we all had room for seating. We were able to walk into town, a five-minute walk and we were right in the heart of the village. I would definitely recommend this property to people going to Lake Placid.

Christmas in Winter Wonderland

  • 5 of 5

We stayed over our Christmas break and enjoyed the coziness of this house. Lots of windows in the living room to watch the snow come down on a very quiet street and to look out at the distant hills and mountains. Easy walk to the center of Lake Placid. We did a lot of cooking and found everything we needed in the kitchen. The place was spotless on our arrival. No complaints whatsoever.

Perfect ski getaway

  • 5 of 5

We booked this house with two other couples. Perfect size and very cozy with the wood burning stove. Relaxing and welcoming home after a full day on the slopes. Very close to town walking distance to restaurants. Owner was super nice and always available with any questions we had. We left a personal item behind and not only did the owner search for it, she ensured to ship it to us. Great home and thank you!

Awesome House, we are so greatful!

  • 5 of 5

Our group rented this house for the Ragnar relay from Saratoga Springs, NY to Lake Placid, NY, as a fundraiser to support the Double H Ranch. The owners were incredible in allowing us to rent for just one evening, and this house suited our needs perfectly. It was well stocked with toilet paper, towels, blankets, etc. Thank you so very much!

Good home, great location, poor upkeep

  • 2 of 5

The house is in a great location and is spacious enough for 8 to 10 people. The owner was accommodating in helping us get the place and responsive to our issues, of which there were a few. We arrived to the site of rugs being hung on the porch railing, which completely negated the luxury of the space. Also noticed a lot of clutter around the house, and our first sight after pulling in was an untidy garage. Also noticed logs holding up window panes on the downstairs windows, and there was a replacement sink hiding under a table in the en suite bathroom upstairs, as if we arrived in the midst of a remodel. We wanted to use the charcoal grill on the porch but when we went to lift it to another spot (it was underneath low-lying branches which we deemed unsafe for open flame) the entire top pit came right off the support frame, which was half an inch of rusted metal away from collapsing itself and scattering hot coals onto a wooden porch. We didn't feel comfortable using the grill and cooked our food inside, which was a major disappointment. Other issues were minor: no bath mats, only been provided a key for the front door, which led to us being locked out after locking the screen door that leads to the front door. Place was clean enough but a lot of missed potential overall for a house with a great location due to the lack of attention given to the upkeep. Definitely didn't feel like we were staying in a vacation home nor did we feel like it was a good value.

Owner's Response: Adirondack is not for everyone. Definitely not for those guests who complain about the BBQ that is not "mobile" but fixed one standing on 2 wooden legs (logs). They would prefer BBQ with plastic wheels instead of wooden logs. Sorry, we use the logs for BBQ to stand on - so you can't pull it - you need to lift it in order to move it. Otherwise it will fell off the logs. This is a just a charcoal BBQ ... not a high-tech one. In order to use such BBQ one need 2 big rocks and a grille. Nothing much to do in order not to spoil ones vacation (as they told us). The house came with 3 sets of keys (front and back) but they could have another 3 sets of keys and they won't be helpful if they lock out them outside the house and left keys inside (and that is what happened). Another complain is for example the lack of bath mats - We have radiant electric heat in the bathroom floors so we don't put the mats on the floor on purpose. We will stick with that practice because we would rather feel the worm feel under the ceramic tiles then the feel of bath mats. We clean our house thoroughly and what happened on their arrival is that the carpet that were cleaned and washed before their arrival were not dried enough and the cleaning crew placed them on the porch railing. Unfortunately the rain poured for 2 days ant the carpets were not dried. In order for guests to have clean deck the cleaning crew moved the carpets to the car port at the back. No, they did not get any discount for their stay. I hope that reading their review again might make more sense now...
