About the property

House, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

Playa Matapalo is a picturesque town resting on Costa Rica's spectacular Central Pacific coast, halfway between Quepos, home of Manuel Antonio National Park, and Dominical, a popular surf and bird watching area. This thriving remote community has breath taking Ocean, Mountain and Rainforest views. With miles of pristine beaches and a melting pot of cultural influences we guarantee there is something here for everyone.

La Casita en la Playa has recently been updated and remodeled with an open floor plan that flows out to the 3 sided wrap around porch, bringing the beauty of Costa Rica right into the living space. Our Casita sits 640 feet from the Pacific Ocean, surrounded by foliage, stunning views and dense tropical forest, enveloping you with the natural beauty of Costa Rica.

A Pulperia, just around the corner from our casita, offers a variety of goods and services, such as a restaurant, grocery store and public Wi-Fi. Matapalo offers a wide array of dining experiences. You can easily travel from this more remote tropical location to busy hotspots in and around Dominical or Quepos.

Why The Owner chose Puntarenas

+While looking at a community under development just outside of Mantapalo proper we stayed at a ocean side property. We fell in love with this charming little town and on the night before we were leaving we found our little casita.

What makes this house unique

We look forward to our mornings walks on the beach watching the surfers, fishermen and local animals and wildlife. We are located right around the corner from the center of Matapalo where there is a small store, restaurant with Wi-Fi access. The locals working here are extremely friendly and are always willing to help us with our Spanish and ask us to help them with their English. On Saturdays the locals have a market day on the beach where they sell food and locally made items. We enjoy spending time there watching the children play and waiting for sunset. The beach at Matapalo has some of the most spectacular sunsets we've ever seen. Often times ExPats have impromptu evening gatherings that include local musicians, it's a great way to get to know other people who love Matapalo as much as we do.

Most Relaxing Rental Ever!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, adult daughter and I recently spent two wonderful weeks (Christmas holidays 2010-2011) at the Casita En La Playa. The character, amenities, neighborhood, and location of the Casita combined to make our stay there one of the most relaxing, enjoyable holidays in memory. Miles of beach were indeed just a stroll away and the location was ideal for exploratory jaunts up and down the coast. Although we had a rental car, it wasn't a necessity as the public bus ran regularly to and from Matapalo. As it turned out, however, we enjoyed the Casita and little hamlet community of Playa Matapalo so much that we forgot to jump in the car and do many of the arduous, adventurous activities on our agenda.
