About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

Enjoy a get-away to our cabin in Packwood, WA, near Mt. Rainier National Park and White Pass Ski Resort. View deer and elk, hike to nearby rivers to fish, and enjoy the cabin's hot tub year-round. Summer offers 2 community pools...one for good swimmers and another for small children. There's also a community tennis court, playground, basketball court, horseshoes, and large baseball field area. In winter, there are lots of areas to sled, some within walking distance! Listen to the birds and watch the chipmunks.

The cabin includes one loft bedroom with two full-size beds and a queen bed. There's also a pull-out couch. We have a variety of games, books, and movies available when you are not watching the fire in the wood stove or relaxing in the large jetted hot tub. Enjoy cable tv or watch a movie from the cabin collection. An entrance to the cabin has plenty of room to store your skis, boots, and snowboards in winter, and to keep your air mattresses for the pool in summer. Relax on the spacious deck for some sun or a family picnic, while viewing the mountain hills of Goat Rocks nearby. Hook up to Wifi at the community pool or the coffee shop nearby.

Packwood is famous for having the largest outdoor market in WA on both Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. Or eat pizza at Cruisers, hike to Packwood Lake for the day, visit Paradise or Ohanapecosh at Mt. Rainier to enjoy a ranger led walk or a campfire talk, attend Packwood's Holiday Bazaar, Quilt Show, Art, or Rod Run weekends. The Cowlitz River offers fishing and there are waterfalls within a short hike just across the street from the cabin in the national forest. Packwood has a golf driving range and a golf course just down the road. Light an outdoor fire at the cabin, when there's no burn ban, to enjoy some hotdogs or s'mores.

About The Owner

Owners Bruce and Linda LaVergne have enjoyed spending summers at the cabin with their children and grandchildren in the pool, playground, fishing, and hiking, and winters on the slopes at White Pass. Now that our children are grown and we are not using the cabin as often as before, we'd like to share it with you!

The Owner purchased this cabin in 1996

Why The Owner chose Mount Rainier

We purchased the cabin in Packwood after we began to ski regularly at White Pass Ski Resort, only a 20 minute drive away. The number of elk and deer seen, as well as the amenities which were part of the Timberline Community Association, also attracted our interest in the property.

What makes this cabin unique

We own two lots, so there is enough area outdoors for a seasonal marshmallow roast or for kids to explore the plants, rocks, leaves, and wildlife. The state's largest outdoor market on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends still has our daughter looking to buy a porcelain doll each year. Although there are other cabins nearby, it is so quiet there that sleeping in isn't a problem! It's a great spot to relax.

Located just off Hwy 12, it is easy to find.

With the Gifford National Forest located across our cul-de-sac, there are many trails to hike, waterfalls to see, and streams to fish.

The local coffee shop has free wifi as well as friendly talk and great coffee.

Owner's Response: Thank you Daryl. The cabin is comfy, a nice place to relax. With our remodel of the bathroom to add a larger shower, the cabin adds the comforts of home. Glad you've enjoyed the cabin twice now, and I hope you will keep it on your list of favorite get-aways for future visits as well! Linda LaVergne LaVergne Vacation Rentals

Nice cabin in the woods

  • 4 of 5

Great location and a cozy cabin for a ski trip to White Pass in the winter; very close. Packwood for supplies is just 3 miles west and located on a quiet cul-de-sac. 3 beds upstairs of various firmness, nice little wood stove downstairs with a bath, kitchen, living room. Not a huge place but large enough for four people; the single bath would limit having more. Good size hot tub that gets to 104F adjacent to the cabin. Enough seating to watch a video together in the living room; bring your own but there are a few videos there. Though technically the kitchen has what it needs you won't find a nice cast iron skillet, decent spatula or sharp knives here so bring your own if you're a serious cook. This is no different from any other VRBO so if you rent a lot you know what I mean. The owner was friendly and reasonable...we rented for one set of days but had to reschedule twice and they were accommodating, and we received our deposit back quickly as well. The property is up on a hill on the south side of the hwy but the roads to it were cleared of snow when we arrived...bring chains in the winter obviously. There's a mud room as you enter for your gear. I would rent this property again.

Perfect home base for a white pass getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely little cabin- perfect size for our group and had everything we needed. The hot tub was a great perk to come back to after a long day of skiing. Would recommend this to any family or group of friends looking to unwind and unplug in the mountains.
