If you are looking for a private, spacious, and relaxing atmosphere, you have found paradise with this unit. The Fairways at Mauna Lani is a modern (2006), private-gated and meticulously maintained, luxury townhouse development nestled in the prestigious Mauna Lani Resort area. This townhome community consists of 21 two-story villas situated on over twenty acres along the Francis Brown North and South Golf Courses in Mauna Lani. Each villa contains six individual privately owned townhomes built in a traditional Hawaiian architecture. Mauna Lani is just a short twenty minute drive from Kona International Airport.

Enjoy your privacy in this spacious unit with no neighbors above or below you. This townhome is located in the spacious lush garden and pool area. Leave the back lanai and walk just a short distance across the garden area to the beautiful lagoon inspired swimming pool with two waterfalls and hot tub as well as the private fitness center, Weber barbecues, and Clubhouse with party deck, kitchen and lounge. Though close in proximity to the townhome, you will still be far enough away to not be disturbed if pool play gets too loud or if you have forgotten something back in the room and need to return.

Unwind on your choice of two covered lanais. One private lanai right off the master bedroom suite where you can enjoy the morning sun and a cup of Kona coffee and the other off the dining/living area that offers you a Viking stainless-steel BBQ grill and wet bar and an expansive view of the immaculate lush green grounds.

The unit has been thoughtfully furnished in a tasteful Island theme with high end furnishings. It has 1,640 square feet of living space not counting the garage and two lanai areas. Enjoy the KEYLESS front door entry feature. No need to worry about house keys here!

Due to the nature of how the condo is laid out from a safety standpoint and the way in which this unit is furnished, we feel that it is best suited for children age 6 and older.

The fully furnished gourmet kitchen, with cherry cabinets, granite counters and GE stainless steel appliances, has everything you will need to create a wonderful meal. The dining area seats six around a beautiful marble table with upholstered chairs, plus there is additional seating at the bar. The living room has a 42” flat screen TV and DVD player.

The master bedroom has a king-size bed, ceiling fan, flat screen TV, and large private master bath with Jacuzzi tub, separate roomy walk-in shower, double sinks with granite counter tops, separate toilet room, and plenty of walk-in closet space. Use the master bedroom office retreat to stay connected with the office or with friends and family with our complimentary high speed wireless internet.

The second bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed, ceiling fan, full private in-suite bath with combination tub/shower, single sink with granite countertop. There is also a flat panel LCD TV for relaxing in bed.

Need sleeping space for more than four? Additional sleeping arrangements for up to one or two adults is provided with the use of our queen-sized pillow-top 'Aero Bed'. It even comes with it's own air compressor for easy assembly.

Other amenities include a laundry area with a full size washer, dryer, and granite countertop with ironing board. There is also a half bath conveniently located on the main floor.

No need to pay all those airline excess baggage fees. The garage area holds all the gear necessary for beach or pool activities such as towels, beach chairs, a lightweight beach cooler, umbrella, beach toys, pool toys, mats, boogie boards, and snorkel gear.

Looking for a beach day close to the complex? With only a five minute drive from the complex, or a fifteen minute bike along the beach, AT NO EXTRA CHARGE, Fairways owners and their guests have access to The Mauna Lani Beach Club. This private club is located between the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and the private residence developments on a protected bay with white sand and coconut palms. Relax for an afternoon of some of the best snorkeling on the island (all ocean gear can be rented seaside or for snorkeling you are welcome to use the gear we have provided for our guests). The Beach Club, with private parking very close to the beach, provides covered cabanas, lounge chairs, two showers beachside, bathroom facilities and a bar and restaurant right on the beach. Walk on up to the bar and order a Mai Tai or a smoothie to sip on while you sun at the beach or bring your own cooler filled with your own beverages and food. Also in this area you can enjoy the self-guided walking tour, featuring archaeological sites with petro glyphs, historic park land, and the Kalahuipuaa Fishponds.

Although the Beach Club is just a 5 minute drive from the townhouse, another five to ten minute drive will take you to Hapuna Beach, one of Kona's well known beaches which has the best bodysurfing and boogie-boarding on the island. If you prefer not to use the complementary Fairways private gym and pool, you can use the facilities at the Mauna Lani Sport and Fitness Club for a small additional fee. Tennis is also available at the Sport and Fitness Club as well as Pilates. A seven minute walk under a flowering tree canopy brings you to the doorways of the luxurious Fairmont Orchid Resort with amazing ocean front views, tropical grounds and be also right on the beach.

As a guest of Fairways you will also be eligible for golf discounts at the Francis Brown North and South Golf Courses in Mauna Lani.

About Nancy

After growing up in North Dakota and living in Alaska for the past twenty-five years, we had dreamed about making a home where snow shovels are not required. Hobbies and passions including golf, fishing, snorkeling and diving made the big island of Hawaii a natural fit.

Why Nancy chose Kohala Coast

Over the years we were able to make numerous trips to Oahu, Kauai and Maui, but never found consistently good weather like we found on the Big Island. When we discovered Mauna Lani with it's private beach club, fabulous golf courses and proximity to the best beaches on the island, we knew we were home. We especially enjoy evening snorkel excursions in the beach club's protected waters when the fish and turtles are most active, followed by sunset with your favorite island cocktail

What makes this townhome unique

The Fairways complex contains the most extensive pool complex in Mauna Lani. You can also work out in the fitness facility which overlooks the pool area. Both lanais in our unit enjoy fabulous morning sun yet are shaded during the heat of the afternoon. The expansive grounds right off the outdoor kitchen provide a great location for the kids to chase geckos, toss a Frisbee or simply burn the last burst of energy before collapsing into bed.

Incredibly Welcoming and Comfortable Condo

Nancy's Fairways Condo is as advertised!

Despite the numerous reviews highlighting how well stocked the condo was, I must say I was still impressed with the array of conveniences throughout the condo (from beach equipment to kitchen appliances to spices and BBQ tools to shampoo to laundry detergent to beach towels) - this unit has it all!

We (my wife, 8 year old daughter and 10 year old son) stayed for a week over Thanksgiving. It was our first visit to the Big Island and I had a lot of questions - Nancy was a generous resource leading up to the trip, patiently answering my myriad questions (in detail) and calming my (completely unfounded) concerns about the weather. Pro Trip: weather.com forecasts for Kohala are completely inaccurate; a week ahead of the trip, they showed 90-100% chance of rain all day/every day - it literally did not rain a drop the entire time we were there (except maybe late at night when we were asleep).

The location is perfect, easy access to Foodland (the small/boutiquish grocery story just up the street from the condo), the Fairmont Orchid (where we did happy hour most nights and ran along the beach every day - life is about balance folks), restaurants, golf courses, Hapuna/Mauna Kea beaches (for boogie boarding), the owners beach (for lounging and snorkeling - if you like to snorkel, try the beach at the Fairmont as well, which you can access easily) - can't say enough about this beach, it is the perfect place to spend a day with the kids.

For those of you who, like me before this, have always stayed at resorts and are considering renting a condo instead, there are pros and cons of each - but from a space, convenience, value perspective, the condo wins hands down; the only downside in my mind is maid service and the lack of a "pool scene" (there is a nice pool/hot tub at the Fairways, just not the same vibe as you would get at a resort with pool service), but for this condo in particular, the easy access to the Fairmont for resort amenities and the scene at the owner's beach definitely scratched that itch for us.

I highly recommend this unit and agree with all of the great things other reviewers have said about it and Nancy. We would definitely stay here again on future trips.

The best!

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Nancy and Dave’s home. The owners meticulously maintain the home and everything is so organized. Access to the Mauna Lani beach club just minutes away from the home and it was perfect for us. Such a wonderful place to stay when coming to the Big Island - we can’t wait to come back again for another visit!

The property was in excellent condition. Felt & looked exceptionally clean, "new", & wonderfully decorated. Would never have known that it was more than 5 yrs. old & had been rented to many. Very inviting to anyone!! Rooms had one or more ceiling fans to help with the air conditioning circulation. The master bedroom 'bed' was very comfortable. Great to have a desk area & printer, & a few office supplies. There was a huge shower, a jet tub, comfy throw rugs, large closet with plenty of provided hangers, laundry baskets, etc. Although we only used the master bedroom, each room & bathroom was stocked & furnished in comfortable ways, providing a sitting area, tvs, bath supplies, change of sheets, towels, blankets, etc. There was a hair dryer in the bathroom drawer, although it was not on the list provided. Loved having the snorkel equipment, beach towels, laundry facility in the home, kitchen supplies, BBQ which we never used, but looked great. This location was very convenient & close to the pool, & yet we never heard any of the guests who were at the pool. I believe that there was a club house with exercise equipment, but we never got down there. Also a private beach for the Fairways guests. Great to have a secure entrance with a changeable code, that only the owner & the current guest knows. The owner, Nancy, provided a list of provided amenities to the guest, after the commitment to rent was made, which was very helpful. Nancy also had assembled & left in the kitchen, a tabulated binder of interesting places to visit, maps, directions, house guidelines, etc. Also very helpful !! About the only tiny thing that was not perfect, were the directions for how to enter the Fairways gate, how to find the rental # and the details about the parking. I had read them at one time, but had not remembered that those items were contained in the body of the "agreement". Which was fine, but would have been just a little more helpful to have them also repeated or listed on a separate sheet of paper, of "how to proceed, once the guest locates the entrance of the property". After the very long experience of packing & traveling, my brain just could not remember where I had read that information. By the time it was dark outside, we were pretty lost, We also had forgotten about NOT parking in the driveway. Maybe another cute "sign" or hanging "box" with the parking permits super visible by the front door? THIS PROPERTY IS ABSOLUTELY HEAVENLY

Owner's Response: Detailed instructions pertaining to the condo containing driving, parking, wifi access, security gate and door codes, and other condo specific information is sent to each traveler in a separate email at least one week before arrival. Most of our guests find it convenient to travel with a printed copy of these detailed instructions.

Amazing!

We really enjoyed our stay at Nancy and Dave's townhome. It was beatifully decorated, close to the Hapauna beach and had everything you needed for a relaxing and comfortable stay( kitchen full of pots/pans, beach supplies, and etc). We would come back in a heartbeat!

Another perfect stay

This was our second time staying at Nancy's and it was just as perfect this time. The home is kept in great condition, the beach equipment and snorkel gear is all very good quality, the kitchen has everything we needed, and the location is quiet and very convenient. Nancy is always completely gracious and fair to work with, and the home radiates her care for the place.
