About Arnold Manangan
My wife and I currently reside in Decatur, GA. We lived in Hawaii and both of us received our Master's degrees from the University of Hawaii. Our jobs took us to Utah, Colorado and to Georgia. I retired as a U.S. Public Health Service commissioned officer after 30 years of service in the health field. My wife is a public health professional. When we can, we go to the beaches of Florida and South Carolina and to the mountains for North Carolina. We go to Hawaii to be with our relatives on special occasions like graduations, birthdays, and unfortunately funerals. We value our staying in contact with familes and friends. We cherish being with our 3 grandsons who are in their peak ages of providing enlightenment for us.
Arnold Manangan purchased this Studio in 2004
Why Arnold Manangan chose West Beach Village
We were introduced to Kiawah Island in 2003 when our in-laws and their families and our family converged to the island where we all rented several cabins. It was so much fun going to the beach, going on the different bike trails and going to downtown Charleston and just simply visiting. That was the start of our being so fascinated with Kiawah. We were excited so we decided to buy our condo in 2004 and when we stay there we still continue to be intrigued by its beauty and serenity. The condo is ideal for us to vacation because it is right on the beach. It is on the 4th floor and you just take the elevator to the first floor, walk several steps and your feet is touching the sand. Enjoy the changing tide. At high tide our sons and grandsons ride their surfboards and body boards. At low tide, we enjoy walking the beach and seeing the different birds like egrets and pelicans flying above and even diving from the airs to catch their meal. You are most likely to see these birds including plovers running on the sand in a unique fashion. Walking and seeing those birds put me in a romantic mode and I usually sing to my wife the sandpiper song that came out in the 60's. Yes, I love being at our Kiawah Island property
What makes this Studio unique
The close proximity to the beach is a draw to being at our condo.

Cozy and lovely!
After a very long drive we arrived to calming music playing as we opened the door. Instant relaxation! It’s perfect for two people, and maybe a child. It was a romantic retreat for us. We only wish the weather had been better to take full advantage of the beach. If we lived closer, this would be a regular retreat for us. I loved the decor! The little kitchenette has everything you need. I couldn’t believe that it also had a dishwasher. Note- the coffee shop and market that a previous review mentioned are no longer there. You’ll now need to take a car to get to another shopping center. That was our only disappointment, but now you know this, you won’t be disappointed by anything. This villa (think “studio apartment”) was everything we were looking for!
Quaint, we would probably stay again
Quaint little place in Kiawah. Great value for the location. Comfy bed (a little firm but fine). It is a true studio condo, no separate bedroom. Nice touches like Pantene shampoo, McDonalds coffee for brewing, and good creamer. No sugar. Could use some general cleaning such as the heater vent, the mat in the shower, etc. But we were pleased overall!
Great studio condo in a quiet location on beach.
We had an excellent stay here. Condo was clean and located in a quiet part of the island right next to beach and with plenty of walking/bike trails. We especially enjoyed the short ride to the market with restaurants and shops. Perfect spot for a quiet getaway. Owners were excellent to work with, responsive and courteous.
great little place
My wife and I had a wonderful stay. This is a great little property. It has a nice balcony, which doesn't have beach views, but feels like you are sitting up in the trees. It is steps from the beautiful beach, with a nice boardwalk approach that has a shower and foot shower to rinse off with before heading home. Southern Kitchen has a great breakfast and is right across the parking lot, although we cooked most of our meals in the condo. The local supermarket is great, and not ridiculously expensive. The bed and other furniture are comfortable. The non-stick frying pans need to be replaced is about my only criticism.
Cozy, the perfect stay for two, or a small family of 3-4!
We really loved our stay at Shipwatch! The studio was comfortable and included everything we wanted and more! The attached small porch was an added bonus with chairs and a table to enjoy the fresh air. The island is secure by a guarded gate and offers many amentities! The beach is quiet and offers some of the best sunrises and sunsets, you can't beat the proximity from your villa to the beach!
Beautiful Property in a Beautiful Setting
The villa is simply beautiful, as is the whole island. The owners were great to work with. We had a wonderful trip despite having to leave in the middle of it. Arnold was available to us the entire time and worked with us to make our stay successful. One of the most peaceful places I have ever stayed. Highly recommend.
Art and music festivals are held during the summer months along with wine tasting events at Freshfields Village which is 2 miles from Kiawah Island. Bohicket Marina offers fishing guides and tours.
