Come enjoy the fabulous sunsets and relaxing atmosphere in this spacious a-frame on the bay! The house is just minutes from the great shopping and dining of the city of Fairhope, but just off the beaten path enough to feel private and secluded! Located on the eastern shore of Mobile bay, the house faces almost due south, meaning refreshing breezes in the summer, but protection from the wind in the winter, making the outdoor weather fabulous year-round!
This house would be perfect for two vacationing families. The downstairs bedrooms both have King sized beds, while the bunks upstairs will sleep lots of kids! The sandy beach is perfect for small kids. A snowbird couple would also love this house, as the upstairs need not even be used! The view from the kitchen as you cook is just breathtaking.
There is a public boat ramp just one mile away, so bring your boat for skiing, tubing and fishing on the bay, or for a beautiful ride up the nearby magnolia river to swim in the cold spring waters.
Don't forget to pack your appetite for seafood. When baited, the three crab traps provided catch as many as a dozen crabs a day!

I am a stay at home mother of three girls ages 18, 16 and 12. I live only 20 minutes from this property. I am very active and enjoy training for and competing in triathlons.
Trin Ollinger purchased this cabin in 2004
It is a great place to vacation. We love to sail, ski, tube, fish and swim. It is only 20 minutes from our primary home, so it was convenient.
We love to be on the water as much as possible, and the breezes and weather here cannot be beat!
We stayed for 3 nights and had a wonderful, relaxing time. The weather was perfect. The listing is very accurate. The house is clean and well maintained. All the appliances are new and worked very well.
Trin is very accommodating and easy to work with.
Sitting on the dock and watching the sunset was great. The kitchen and living room are spacious and well designed. Beds are very comfortable.
I would recommend this house to anyone. This is not a luxury home, but a clean and very enjoyable vacation house. The kayak was fun!
We would love to rent this house again.
Overall we had a pleasant experience nice private beach and dock. Only disappointment being the property was not very well maintained. With a small bit of repair this would be very nice place. We also we're not aware that there was a major construction project happening next door until arrival. There was heavy equipment and construction workers present the majority of our stay should have been mentioned sooner.
My family and I stayed for 4 days and the home was excellent and a great choice. Trin was a pleasure to deal with and very responsive. The home is comfortable, well maintained and exactly as described. We will stay here again if we visit Fairhope again.
I rented Trin's property for a family get away and to just relax. Everything about the location and house made that totally possible. The beds are comfortable and plenty of pillows, blankets and towels. The living space is comfy and functional, although because of the AMAZING location being right on the beach and the constant bay breeze we spent most of our time on the porch or out on the pier. The description is accurate and we found the property to be clean and maintained. Trin's house is what one would envision a "beach cottage" to be comfortable but not stuffy.
Every friend that came to visit immediately commented on the great location and relaxing feel of the house. The house is located conveniently enough for food shopping or to go into the town of Fairhope if you can pull yourself away from the view. Trin was accessible and responded to my question for directions (which GPS is totally accurate with) immediately. I felt like I was staying at a family friend's house and not some impersonal "rental." If your looking for a place to feel unplugged, live in a bathing suit and leave the stress behind this is it. We all enjoyed being lulled by the sound of the waves whether at night on the porch or sitting in the hammock chairs on the pier. I would definitely recommend and rent from Trin again.
In the several years for renting through Home Away we have never been as disappointed as we were with this unit.
1 There was no printed helpful information, as we have always found in several previous rentals, to help us with how any appliance functioned or equipment worked let alone directions to any necessary or desirable in the area nearby. Fortunately there was a plunger near the downstairs toilet which flushed very weakly.
2 The three controls for playing DVDs and videotapes in the vast collection were missing their batteries. Result: no videos at all all five days. Reported to owner who lives fairly close in Fairhope, Al, her response: "Oh, that happens sometimes." No offer to provide replacement batteries.
3 The insect bites on my back I realized after doing online research back at home came from FLEAS! Somehow the larger of the back bedroom harbors fleas which bit only me--perhaps because I was the only one who used the white, knit coverlet. This is a SERIOUS Situation!! I can't help but wonder what's in the 7 upstairs beds and the other downstairs.
We would definitely not recommend this rental unit. It is very poorly maintained and serviced.
OK....so...this house is perfect for families with children. There are two bedrooms upstairs with four twin beds in each. There are two "masters" downstairs with king sized beds. All beds very comfortable...all linens clean and plentiful. Especially towels! I stayed here with just my sister, so tons of room, we never even went upstairs except to look around! One bath upstairs; one bath downstairs. Now for the real scoop: this place is magical. All you hear is the sound of tiny waves lapping on the sandy beach at your front door. Pelicans flying by in formation. Walk out on the dock and you are in another world. I literally dream about being back at this place! Food for the soul.
Do not come if you are addicted to the internet or your kids have to watch TV in order to survive. (You can easily get internet in town). But if you want to get away from it all and actually spend some time together playing board games etc...this is the place for you. Your kids will love wading out into the shallow (forever!) water and playing on the little beach. Trin is the NICEST...got back to us immediately with any questions we had. The home is very well stocked with any and all kitchen stuff you might need. There is nothing fancy about it; but very comfortable. Lots of incredible restaurants in Fairhope.
We LOVED this place! Will come back the very first chance I get.
