We had stayed at a friends condo several times in the area and just fell in love with Playa Hermosa and decided to buy a place to come to more often and potentially retire to. This development offered us a nice short walk to a quiet beach and the nearby restaurants. Good neighbors and good sun
We love the serenity and beauty as well as all the amenities and activities the area has to offer.
The place is updated, clean and well furnished. The amenities work well; the kitchen is functional. The grounds are nice. The pools and their surroundings were well kept. There is a feeling of security as the security guards were ever-present (in a good way). The condo is a <10 minute walk from the beach. The area is quiet, with a nice beach and several good restaurants close by. It is well located between various beaches and towns to the south and the airport/Liberia to the west.
Condo is just as it looks in pictures. It was vey clean and comfy. The pool and walkways were always clean. Short walk to the beach. Restaurants nearby. Close to the airport and zip line . Hiking to waterfalls, rafting, boat tours are all available.
What wonderful accommodations in such a great town. The condo was even nicer than we expected and was a perfect place to end our extended trip. Close to adventures and the airport, it allowed us to explore the country, chill out at the pool or walk to the beach. After one especially long hot day hiking a volcano it was great to come back, flop into the pool and make ourselves a great dinner in the kitchen. The town itself is wonderful with great food options in beautiful settings.
My husband, son (16) and I enjoyed our week long stay at Ocean Breeze Condo for our 25th Anniversary at the end of August. Beautiful unit, fully furnished with washer and dryer, pools right outside the unit, walking distant to the beach, tour guides just a 5 minute walk outside the gate, restaurants on the beach and outside the gate as well, great for those who don't want to rent a car. Corby was very welcoming and helpful. The neighbors are all very nice, we would highly recommend this condo to those who are going to Costa Rica.
Your condo was beautiful and very clean, Lori. We enjoyed the pool outside our balcony. The maintenance people were continually working outside to keep things in great condition. The four of us found everything that we needed in the condo. Walking to the beach was quite convenient. The only reason that I gave the condo a good instead of excellent was because the water pressure was an issue. The people in this country are so friendly and helpful. Neighbors in the condo area were very nice and helpful also. My family and I would return to your unit in this very relaxing area. Thank you for sharing.
My sister and myself enjoyed a week stay- maintenence guy was kind and kept the pools very clean. We felt safe in this community and there are lots of Canadians. Beware of the gate malfunctioning (have property manager's number). Lori (owner of condo) was the best and wonderful to work with! World Skype made it easiest to keep in touch with loved ones. The kitchen is fully equipped, so we bought fresh produce and groceries at the Marketo in Coco and enjoyed homemade meals and frozen drinks on the balcony. Coco (about 10 min. south of Hermosa) is best for gifts and the Marketo has cheaper prices than local markets. Also, Cafe Brit was the best coffee (you can purchase it at the grocery store) and everyone LOVED it in the U.S. as a gift.
I highly suggest renting a car and book your rental car 2-3 weeks in advance through National near Liberia; check your credit card company on insurance coverage and note they have mandatory insurance coverage, so know the FULL price up front or you will be surprised with "hidden" fees. Four wheel drive is a must for adventurers; book in advance and know your prices up front as they charge.
Places to eat... Ginger was our favorite! Playa Hermosa Hotal and Velero and Pizzeria Bocelli. The local food at the grocery store was so good that eating in was our favorite!
Places to see... Guanacaste is the dry rain forrest, so you will need to plan a day trip for more tropical climate. We enjoyed beaches Hermosa, Coco, and Nacascolo was our favorite (through Four Seasons golf course- the bus takes you on tour for free- know spanish for this one). If you're a backpacker, you cannot go wrong! Make sure to have lots of water and freshen up your spanish speaking skills if interested in the less touristy routes- study maps well in advance as there are lots of hikes. We enjoyed Puesto Murceilago where we hiked through the dry forrest 10k to Bahia El Hachal and Santa Rosa National Park (day pass gets you to both).
Culture... I enjoyed the way locals lived simply; local food/produce, less electronics and more socializing with others. You can hear a lot of birds and the howler monkeys from the condo which was quite peaceful. The seashells were beautiful, but please do not pack them to preserve the land (and it's illegal).
