Beautiful home and location, with wonderful hosts

  • 5 of 5

The room was large with private entry. We had access to the kitchenette set up at the back lanani with a grill, untensils, pots and pans, spices and other basic necessities.

As wonderful as the property was, we have to mention what a wonderful people August and Daiva was; and how that just elevated our stay experience. August gave us suggestions every morning after hearing our plans. Some of his suggestions were spot on since he had thought about the beach conditions and weather predictions for the day. We are glad we altered our plans and took his suggestions into consideration. Our time there couldn't have gone any better! If we are lucky enough to come back to this corner of the world, we would MOST DEFINITELY stay at August's place only!

Thanks August. Hoping our paths cross again.

Beautiful spot in Captain Cook

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were on the Big Island celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and spent 3 nights in this area. August and Daiva were the most gracious hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with them and at their place. They gave us great insight on the area and shared stories about themselves that were so insightful and inspiring. The area where we stayed was very private and comfortable. The views and flowers around the lodging is breathtaking and it feels like you are taking a Tropical Flower tour every day. The kitchen is outside which was fun and contains a few surprising geckos. Once you get used to them surprising you its fine. I'm used to Bears and Bobcats but would scream like a little girl when surprised by them. (they didn't jump on me, they are just in their own habitat and I wasn't used to them) We toured several of the coffee places (Greenwell and Kona Joe) and was most impressed with Kona Joe. The tour is 15.00 per person but well worth it and they give you a coffee mug and lots of tastings plus a free cup of coffee at the end. The view is incredible and you can just go there and purchase a cup of coffee and enjoy the scenery. There are many little shops in the Kona area and it is a great area to spend the day exploring. We would definitely stay here again, it was sad to leave we enjoyed our time there so much!

The most amazing time ever. Our hosts were amazing!

  • 5 of 5

There is nothing bad I can say about our trip(honeymoon). Our hosts August and his wife were fantastic, and very knowledgeable about the island, which was amazing. From them letting us borrow snorkeling equipment to having the kitchen on the lanai. It's get quite cool at night perfect sleeping weather. It's really like you have the place to yourself the host stay out of your way we barely crossed path which makes you feel at your own place. And lastly the beach down the road was fantastic for sunsets, snorkeling, and relaxing/late night fun with the waves crashing in. We cannot wait to come back. As long as we are welcome back.thank you for the wonderful stay

weekend in paradise

  • 5 of 5

Daiva and August were wonderful hosts during our short trip to the big island. The yard is absolutely stunning and the room had everything we needed. You can tell that they have put a lot of heart and soul into their home. August was kind enough to provide beach towels, beach chairs and even boogie boards for us to use. He also had some great recommendations for local beaches and activities. This was my first VRBO experience and I couldn't have hoped for a better one. Hoping to go back to the island in a few years and would absolutely stay at Hale Gediminas again if I have the chance. Mahalo and aloha!

Charming and deliqhtful

August and Daiva's little studio was exactly what the doctor ordered! Their property is well kept, quiet, comfortable and relaxing. They have clearly spent a considerable amount of time thinking through the "little details" that make a VRBO so enjoyable. The bottled water, the care they take to make sure your stay is more than satisfactory and the cleanliness and fine condition of the unit all point to that. For example: the unit faces the back of the property, which they've made pleasant and private with beautiful tropical landscaping. But then they go the extra mile by including in their house a private path to your own section of their lanai, that includes a spectacular 200 degree view of the western Pacific Ocean (and sunsets...lots and lots of tropical sunsets). It's located just far enough from Kailua-Kona, but not so far the commute feels like a slog. Can I come up with any issues at all? Perhaps that sometimes the highway noise can be a bit loud...occasionally. But do not let that keep you from renting their unit if it feels this would be a good fit. Enjoy and Aloha!
