We have been married since 1978, have two sons, two daughters in law and five beautiful grandchildren. We fell in love with the Eastern Sierras over 30 years ago and have spent many vacations in the area. It has been our life long dream to own property in what has been described as the hidden jewel of the Eastern Sierras. We purchased the property in 2000, then built our dream house in 2007. We look forward to coming up here as often as we can.
Corey purchased this cabin in 2007
We chose Aspendell because of its beauty. Old growth pine trees surround the lot, the many aspen trees and of course the running creek across the street contribute to the beauty and serenity of the neighborhood. The temperature does not get over 80 degrees in the summer and the evenings are cool and comfortable. This areas is the most beautiful and peaceful place we have ever known.
Sit on the deck or view through the windows the many wildlife such as birds, deer, squirrels, chipmunks and the occasional fox strolling through the property. Gorgeous sunrise and sunsets. The stars are so bright you feel like you can reach up and touch them.
My husband and I rented this house as a hub to day hike the Sierras. We couldn't have picked a better location. We had the Sierras at our door step but Bishop was only 15 minutes away. When we tired of hiking, we could easily drive to one of the sightseeing spots in eastern Sierras-Mono Lake, Devil's Post Pile, Bristle Cone National Monument. Or fish Bishop Creek which is right outside the house. At this elevation, we had cool mountain breezes escaping the heat in the Owens Valley. The house is completely equipped and beautifully furnished. The owners are a delight. We plan on returning. BTW, try the fire roasted pizza at Cardinal Resort. You can walk there from the cabin.
This cabin is comfortable, clean and can accommodate several people easily. Beautiful views, great kitchen and comfy rooms. There are many activities to do right there near by from hiking, fishing, horseback riding, a local lodge with wonderful food. Inside they have books, games, DVD, wifi and TV. We stayed a month in June 2015 and I hope we. An return again in the future. It is so beautiful and peaceful up there and not one time did I feel creeped out by the place.
The only thing to be aware of is the stairs if you have elderly or those with physical needs you need to know there is no easy entrance. From car to home there are 14 steps up or a very uneven climb up an incline to 4 steps to access the main living area.
This is not really a problem but I felt there could be those out there that would want to know. My 90 year old grandma made it but we were very careful with her.
We stayed for the month of June 2014, and it was fantastic! There is plenty of great hiking and fishing very close nearby. As for the house, it was big and had all of the amenities of home -- not a bit rustic. There is a great big outdoor deck where you can relax with a book and a beverage, watch the birds and other wildlife, and enjoy the beautiful scenery. There are lots of indoor activities (board games, video games, TV and DVD player, etc.) to keep the kids occupied, if you need a few minutes of peace and quiet. Also, there is pretty good trout stream fishing less than a five minute walk from the front door -- if you are introducing young kids to fishing, and want them to enjoy a little success. I can't say enough about the location -- Aspendell is charming and quiet, and there is so much to explore in Bishop Creek Canyon and the surrounding area. By trade, I am a Software Engineer, and I was able make a working vacation of this; it was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable things I've ever done. The Eastern Sierra's are AWSOME!! A former Californian, I drove all the way from Texas to get there, and hated to leave. I will gladly come back to this place if I get another chance. Five stars without question.
We celebrated my husband’s 70th birthday at this beautiful cabin. We hiked and fished and took plenty of pictures of the colorful aspen trees. We had 5 deer that visited us every evening as we sat on the big deck listening to the stream. This home has everything you would need to make meals and play games at night. We highly recommend staying here. We plan on coming back again
Wow this house is great, better than 5 stars! We found it very comfortable, well appointed and wow are the views spectacular. When we weren't hiking one of the many close by back country trails or fishing the very productive creeks and lakes you could probably find us relaxing on the awsome deck. What a beautiful month
in the mountians. Can't wait to come back!
Wow! Even better than the pictures show. This place is great and in a great location. Close by fishing, hiking, deer watching and deck relaxing! Great corner lot location with all that you will need for a wonderful stay - plenty of linens, beds, dishwasher, coffee maker, tons of games and puzzles for the kids (and adults). Great star gazing, family friendly and just all around awesome. You will love it!
Very close to the famous Buttermilks for rock climbing.
