Gorgeous Lake & Ultimate Privacy!
Burns Lake Cabin is a luxurious gorgeous, lakeshore, executive log home on 70 acres of private woodland surrounded by Chippewa National Forest! Relax and de-stress in absolute privacy and north woods beauty. Burns is one of the most beautiful lakes in the area (about 350 acres). This hand-scribed log home was built by executives who loved the woods and is meticulously maintained. You will never find a lovelier setting for your ultimate relaxation in the wilderness. Listen to the lake, paddle in the kayaks, fish, ski, snowshoe, hike, hunt, or mountain bike on logging roads and private paths. We're open all year!
All bathrooms are tiled and luxurious. Relax in the 24 foot tall great room with the full-height fireplace. Gourmet cooks will love the kitchen - with calphalon professional cookwear. The house has been completely refurnished, with oriental rugs and luxurious leather furniture, a home gym, lounge area with wet bar, and rustic log beds by a local artist, with a new chimney, roof and log staining in 2015. Burns Lake Cabin even has an automatic back-up generator system, so no power failures will mar your vacation!
Year round, this beautiful cabin at the center of Minnesota sports and recreation country is available for your vacation of a lifetime. There is something for everyone! Sports enthusiasts will love the boating, fishing, hunting, golf, kayaking, sailing, swimming, running, hiking, snowmobiling, ice fishing, cross country skiing, just outside your door. The more restrained will have a wonderful time strolling on logging roads, canoeing, gently cycling and walking along miles of national forest paths and roads. Then come home for a picnic by the water.
The Chippewa National Forest in northern Minnesota covers a huge proportion of Itasca County. We live among hundreds of thousands of acres of wilderness and very little private land. The Forest itself consists of 1.6 million acres, and hosts the largest population of nesting bald eagles in the lower 48 states. During your stay, you may see osprey, eagles, pileated woodpeckers, hawks, red foxes and of course lovely white tail deer. winter evenings think about the great day outdoors and curl up in front of your own huge stone fireplace with hot gingerbread and coffee, a mystery novel or the love of your life!

Great Get Away and Relaxing Cabin
My brothers and I have been camping in the area for years and decided to upgrade to a cabin as we are getting older and the camping became more work than fun. The Burns Lake cabin was just the ticket. The cabin is very cozy and has just enough extra touches without losing the country feel and atmosphere. We all agreed to reserve the cabin for next year and hope this has started another long term commitment for us to get together for some fishing each Spring. Thank you Gay and Russ for providing a quality home and location for us to enjoy!!
Best family vacation ever!!
This vacation was the best ever! The cabin is beautiful, modern but still has that On Golden Pond feel. Private, secluded but not so much that you feel completely alone. There isn't a lot of activity on the lake so you pretty much feel like the whole lake is yours. The fishing was excellent. My husband and I would go out and spend hours just sitting and fishing, enjoying the peace and quiet while occasionally hearing the loons. Our children enjoyed the vacation as well, they got to relax, they pretty much stay busy all summer with sports! We definitely want to come back!
Relaxing, Pictureseque Lake Vacation
The lake and its surrounding were gorgeous! Coming from NYC, we were seeking a peaceful, bucolic experience and we were not disappointed! The cabin was spacious enough for two families to share comfortably. It was very clean and well-appointed. We would definitely come back again!
We have been trying to find a cabin that would fulfill the needs of our two families and I believe we have found the one! In fact, after the first day we all agreed, we want to come back next year!
LOCATION - The cabin is located near the National Chippewa Forest with smaller towns near if you need anything. The area surrounding the cabin is secluded, peaceful and beautiful.
LAKE - The lake is so quiet and peaceful that when we were out on the boat in the early mornings, we could hear the sound the loon's wings as they flew above! It's not a big lake, but the perfect size for us and the five loon we shared it with :)
FISHING - Each day plenty of fish were caught for our traditional shore lunch meal. (mostly crappie, sunfish and bass) The dock had plenty of room for two boats and the fish cleaning area by the lake worked out great!
SWIMMING - Knowing there wasn't a beach area for the little ones down by the lake to play and swim, we brought along a small pool which we set up on the back patio. This worked out great since where there was plenty of room for them to play and splash and for us to sit and watch them.
OUTSIDE SPACE - The spacious yard worked out great for our traditional corn hole and ladder golf tournaments! The kids enjoyed racing around the circular driveway and playing ball in the yard. One cooler rainy day, a few of the adults enjoyed the warmth of the hot tub.
FIRE PIT - The fire pit area was perfect! Plenty of areas to sit, wood to burn and the view of the lake with the sounds of the loon couldn't get any better!
CABIN- Clean, spacious and beautiful!! With 13 people total, it can be a challenge to find enough room for everyone to sleep and to have a little time for themselves. This was not an issue at Burns Lake Cabin!! Everyone had a bed and a comfortable one at that! The three different levels worked out great, especially when it was nap time for the little ones. The upstairs wet bar/reading area was a perfect spot for a little R n R and the front porch overlooking the lake with the rocking chairs was wonderful! The kitchen had a nice pantry area, plenty of counter space and almost everything we needed! We did lose power one night, but within seconds, the generator took over - great resource to have available!
GAY & RUSS - Fantastic to work with!! We didn't see them during the week, but knew if we needed anything, they were not far away.
We all had a great time and looking forward to our return next year!!!
My family stayed at this cabin last summer. There were 15 of us and we were all able to stay comfortably with an additional air mattress downstairs. The cabin is spacious, clean, and beautiful inside and out. We have started a family tradition at Burns lake and we all look forward to returning in a couple weeks.
Burns Lake cabin is great for kids! They can swim and fish off the dock, run in the yard, go on family hikes (sporting fancy and very exciting compass whistles provided by the cabin owners ), kayak, and see all kinds of wild life.
All you need is bug spray, sunscreen, food, and family to have a great time. The lake is also big enough to tube and ski.
Fall asleep to the sound of loons instead of other campers at this private and quiet oasis. A great price for the space!
NOTE: There are stairs down to the lake so this could be an obstacle for those with disabilities.
Respite in the Woods
We had a wonderful time! The cabin met every expectation for our family adventure based on the listing and was the blank canvas for our extended family vacation for 18 people--including toddlers to teens. The kayaks gave our kids easy access to the lake to fish and swim at a moments whim. The kitchen, deck and fire pit gave us the perfect venue for simple family dinners and snack times together. We played board and lawn games throughout our stay and spent many hours drinking coffee, talking and "unlaxing" on the porch swing and rocking chairs.
The rooms were very comfortable and the hot tub provided an extra bit of luxury that we all enjoyed. My in-laws, who have mobility challenges, were comfortable in the master bedroom/bath on the main level. We had plenty of room to spread around the cabin and do various activities.
I would highly recommend this place for this place for anybody looking to get away from it all and spend some quality time with much loved family and friends!
