Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Plan your Bay Area holiday from this magnificent retreat surrounded by the best of Marin, San Francisco and the Napa wine country. The picturesque large A-frame home sits on a quarter acre of full grown redwoods with breath taking views of the San Francisco Bay.

Step out your door onto Mt Tam’s best trails and walk across the road to hike in world-famous Muir Woods National Redwood Forest. After a day outdoors visit downtown Mill Valley (10 minutes) or cruise over the Golden Gate into San Francisco for dinner (20 minutes). With Sausalito harbor and Stinson Beach surfing around the corner and the Wine Country 45 minutes away, our home is the perfect anchor for anything from a long Bay Area weekend or a month “in residence” in the town that some consider the most beautiful in the Bay Area.

Quiet and serene, our home has many amenities, but the best part for us are the two large decks; one with mature redwoods growing right up through the custom built decking and the other hiding a large, new hot tub in a fern and bamboo grove. Recently remodeled the home features vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, wood burning and gas fireplaces, granite countertops, new kitchen appliances, plush white carpet in master bedroom, teak deck furniture and much more.

There are 2 bedrooms, including the Master with its picture window and view of the Bay, a media room with 48” HD TV that can also sleep two with an inflatable bed and 2 full bathrooms. The spacious loft offers another space to hang out or work (if you can tear yourself away from the views long enough to use the free wireless).

Visitors tell us that planning their stay around Mt Tam and Mill Valley offers a more relaxing way to experience the entire Bay Area – close to the City and amenities, but with the feel of a local resident and plenty of space to chill. Our home is so quiet you can literally hear the hawks as they fly overhead. Come and experience it for yourself!

Amazing! Views to die for!

  • 5 of 5

Spectacular stay all around. The house is beautifully nestled into the redwoods, and while the neighbors are nearby the layout of the landscaping creates the illusion of sheer solitude and privacy in this most scenic spot. We spent hours and hours lounging on the deck, gazing down at the redwood hills. One note is that we were there on perhaps the hottest weekend in 100 years, and so we were a little toasty given the lack of AC. But that didn't deter from the amazing experience at all! Wonderful all around!

Great Views

  • 4 of 5

Property was nice. The home was clean, the hot tub worked and the kitchen is nice. There are a few items that could use some upgrades / TLC like a working gas grill and a few new chairs for the deck. Overall our family of four was happy with the stay. The drive into the home is a bit tricky but after a few times of driving in and out you become more comfortable with it.

Gorgeous Redwood Setting

  • 5 of 5

I have always wanted to live in a tree house and now I feel I can check that off my bucket list! Because of the location, we were able to get to Muir Woods before the crowds, and to be honest, I thought the redwoods grove were were staying in was just as beautiful. The manager was very quick to respond and very helpful with every question or concern. We couldn't have been more delighted with our stay.

perfect hideaway close to SF

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved this home. It is surrounded by redwoods and is elegant and luxurious inside. With just a 20 min drive into San Fran, this is a perfect place for a retreat that allows easy access into the city. Highly recommended!

Cozy house in a gorgeous setting

  • 5 of 5

I loved our stay in this house. It was a great home base for exploring Muir Woods, and venturing in to San Francisco. We took advantage of the proximity to Muir Woods to get there early (you must if you want a good parking spot), and I have to say, one of the two days we went there we got there before 8 am and got an amazing spot. And if you get there before it opens, you don't pay an entrance fee. Also not far from Sonoma. We dragged our two small kids there one afternoon after a morning at the Bay Area Discovery Museum, and it was a fantastic day (though extremely hot in Sonoma that day). I loved that the location was so close to so many other great spots to visit!

If you want a downtown type experience, this is not for you. This is more of an outdoorsy environment and it feels great getting into nature. The deck is absolutely gorgeous. It's right in the redwoods, with redwood trees going right through it. As others have mentioned, the road leading to the property was tricky to get to. We ordered Indian food one night, and it took about an hour and a half, because undoubtedly the restaurant delivery person had no idea where to go! It is very cool how the fog sometimes settles in the trees, whereas it can still be dry on the back of the deck.

We used the hot tub several times during our stay, and it was very nice. Great temperature, clean, and easy to use, as well as very private. Well equipped place, pretty much everything you need.

The only complaint we had was that when we stayed, the first night it was during a heat wave and because the place has no A/C we suffered a bit the first night. We were worried about the next night, but it cooled off quite nicely and we were OK for the remainder of our stay. The owner responded to my complaint about the heat with a small but gracious refund for our inconvenience, and offered to pay for an additional fan for us, but because she was out of town, we would have to buy it. It was a nice offer, but we were busy with activities and did not take her up on it. The upstairs, where the master is, was much hotter than downstairs. We shut all the shades during the day and that helped keep the place cool.

Overall, we had a wonderful time. There are some great places to eat in Mill Valley, and I liked that the area is just so gorgeous. We found a good sushi place, and ate in downtown Mill Valley a couple times. What an absolutely lovely place! If we come back to this area, we will definitely stay there.

Beautiful setting with fantastic forest feel

  • 4 of 5

Lovely property but second bedroom underwhelming. Outside needs so love and affection but the main kitchen, dining and relaxing area is superb with great views. Master bedroom is huge and owners provided baby cot unasked.
