'La Porte Rouge' is a large restored early 18th Century farmhouse (which belonged until this century to the Comtesse d' Auvers), situated at the end of a quiet country road and surrounded by landscaped grounds, gardens and fields in the small village of Auvers, near Carentan. The main house is a fully furnished two story structure with a large living room, a large L-shaped kitchen-living room. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed and one baby bed; one large bedroom has one double bed and two twin beds; the four other bedrooms have twin beds. The three complete bathrooms are spacious. The house is tastefully furnished with antique rugs and old Norman furniture. Ideal for family reunions or several couples/children and elderly people. All amenities are present for a comfortable stay. The house is surrounded by fields where cows and horses can be seen grazing throughout the year. The grounds are landscaped and there is an orchard full of fruit trees (apples, pears, apricots, peaches, cherries, chestnuts, hazelnuts and walnuts) and two ponds. Traditional French meals can be prepared by a cook of the village, at an additional cost, to enable you to spend all your days touring the countryside and come back to a warm meal in the evening!

About the owner: This house has been in my family since 1926 when it was given to my grandparents by their parents as a dowry. My husband and I purchased it in 1984 when it was put up for sale and, after extensive upgrades, we are happy to share it with others. It is truly a family house, full of history and memories. We hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do.
