About the property

Beach House on Tidal-Fed Canal w/ Fixed/Floating Docks, Screened Porch

On an ocean-fed canal within view of the salt marsh inlet, this single-story, raised beach house enjoys the active serenity of the Carolina seascape busy with the changing tide and coastal birdlife. A hand-crafted footbridge over the canal, located nearby, brings the beach within easy reach. This beach home boasts spacious kitchen, private fixed and floating docks on canal, large canal-front screened porch, covered front porch and ample parking.

The new homeowners of The Silver Tuna (previously known as Wessel) have made this beach home one in which they and their guests can relax and have fun. A number of repairs and wonderful upgrades have been completed since 2015 including a refinished exterior trimmed with plantation shutters, new outdoor shower (that will make your day!), all new mattresses, flat screen TVs, expanded canal-front screened porch double its previous size, lovely new full size bathroom (making 3 bathrooms now!) and another bathroom has been beautifully renovated. Also new is an exquisite collection one-of-a-kind artwork inspiring just the right touch of Pawleys Charm.

Guests will LOVE the New Dock! Incredibly spacious and handsomely built with cedar shingle roof, built-in wraparound bench seating, sink with side counter, running water, electricity, lighting, floating dock with ramp equipped with handrails and spectacular waterfront view.

South Litchfield Beach

South Litchfield Beach is easily among the prettiest beaches in South Carolina. Bounded by low lying sand dunes and the blue-green ocean, the beach is characteristically wide with soft white sand and spans 7 miles from end to end.

Summertime can get busy on South Litchfield Beach, but families love rekindling friendships made from past stays as they book year after year in the same home within this small, beachside community in which nearly every home is rented in summer. Grocery and beach stores, popular dining venues, and local eclectic shops are conveniently close by.

While primarily residential, Litchfield Inn is located on the north end of this beach where guests can enjoy oceanfront dining within easy and safe walking distance. Indulge at least once during your vacation and choose between the relaxed cabana atmosphere of Austin’s Cabana Café or the elegance of Austin’s Ocean One located on an upper floor with panoramic ocean views.

Huntington Beach State Park shares the same strand as South Litchfield Beach, a popular destination for families, photographers, and nature lovers. A 4-mile drive north along Ocean Highway 17 will bring you to the forested state park entrance where visitors will fall under the enchanting spell of the beauty and wildlife of the Lowcountry sand dunes and marshlands.

Also only 4 miles away is Brookgreen Gardens, another local treasure. Brookgreen displays world renowned sculpture amidst acres of lush gardens and majestic oaks and offers miles of walking paths through what once was a working rice plantation. It is also home to the only accredited zoo on the Carolina coast, where you will see native animals in their natural habitats.

The Pawleys Island/Litchfield Beach area is known locally as the Waccamaw Neck. Pawleys Island, known for its “arrogantly shabby” character, encompasses Litchfield but has its own beach – and island – where it splits away from the south end of Litchfield Beach. The relaxing ebb and flow of the tide sets the pace of our Lowcountry coastal region of South Carolina where getting on Island Time comes naturally.

Outdoor activities are a great way to experience the unique beauty of our area. Locals and visitors alike enjoy surf fishing, deep sea fishing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, surfing, boating, bicycling, and beach combing – just to name a few. Nationally renowned golf courses abound as well as historic landmarks and plantation tours. Myrtle Beach, only 20 miles north, and Charleston, 80 miles south, make great day trips. And for those who truly want to get away from it all, stake out a spot of your own on our beautiful beach!
