About the property

Beach House on Tidal-Fed Canal w/ Fixed/Floating Docks, Screened Porch

On an ocean-fed canal within view of the salt marsh inlet, this single-story raised beach house enjoys the active serenity of the Carolina seascape busy with the changing tide and seaside bird life. A hand-crafted footbridge over the canal is located nearby bringing the beach within easy reach. Beach home boasts spacious kitchen, private dock on canal, canal-side screened porch, covered front porch, and ample parking.

The Silver Tuna (previously known as Wessel) has NEW homeowners! They are excited about making their beach home one in which they and their guests can relax and have fun. A number of repairs and upgrades were completed in 2015 including some much needed exterior work, all new mattresses/bed covers, flat screen TVs, and some new pieces of furniture. A completely rebuilt covered dock on the canal was completed March 21, 2016. The canal-side screened porch is under construction to be enlarged to double its previous size – completion expected spring 2016. New dock photos are all close-ups due to construction in progress on yard and porch. NEW PIX coming soon!

Guests will LOVE the New Dock! Incredibly spacious and handsomely built with cedar shingle roof, built-in wraparound bench seating, sink with counter, running water, electricity, lighting, floating dock with ramp equipped with handrails and lovely waterfront view.

South Litchfield Beach

South Litchfield Beach is easily among the prettiest beaches in South Carolina. Bounded by low lying sand dunes and the blue-green ocean, the beach is characteristically wide with soft white sand and spans 7 miles from end to end.

Summertime can get busy on South Litchfield Beach, but families love rekindling friendships made from past stays as they book year after year in the same home within this small, beachside community in which nearly every home is rented in summer. Grocery and beach stores, popular dining venues, and local eclectic shops are conveniently close by.

While primarily residential, Litchfield Inn is located on the north end of this beach where guests can enjoy oceanfront dining within easy and safe walking distance. Indulge at least once during your vacation and choose between the relaxed cabana atmosphere of Austin’s Cabana Café or the elegance of Austin’s Ocean One located on an upper floor with panoramic ocean views.

Huntington Beach State Park shares the same strand as South Litchfield Beach, a popular destination for families, photographers, and nature lovers. A 4-mile drive north along Ocean Highway 17 will bring you to the forested state park entrance where visitors will fall under the enchanting spell of the beauty and wildlife of the Lowcountry sand dunes and marshlands.

Also only 4 miles away is Brookgreen Gardens, another local treasure. Brookgreen displays world renowned sculpture amidst acres of lush gardens and majestic oaks and offers miles of walking paths through what once was a working rice plantation. It is also home to the only accredited zoo on the Carolina coast, where you will see native animals in their natural habitats.

The Pawleys Island/Litchfield Beach area is known locally as the Waccamaw Neck. Pawleys Island, known for its “arrogantly shabby” character, encompasses Litchfield but has its own beach – and island – where it splits away from the south end of Litchfield Beach. The relaxing ebb and flow of the tide sets the pace of our Lowcountry coastal region of South Carolina where getting on Island Time comes naturally.

Outdoor activities are a great way to experience the unique beauty of our area. Locals and visitors alike enjoy surf fishing, deep sea fishing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, surfing, boating, bicycling, and beach combing – just to name a few. Nationally renowned golf courses abound as well as historic landmarks and plantation tours. Myrtle Beach, only 20 miles north, and Charleston, 80 miles south, make great day trips. And for those who truly want to get away from it all, stake out a spot of your own on our beautiful beach!
