About David & Peggy Carpenter

We live and work in Nashville, Tennessee, but the Smoky Mountains have long been our getaway place where we find peace and serenity away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We have tried to create a place where you could be comfortable, relax, and unwind. We hope that you will come to love and enjoy the beauty of the mountains as much we do.

David & Peggy Carpenter purchased this cabin in 2010

Why David & Peggy Carpenter chose East

We wanted to buy a cabin in the Great Smoky Mountains. When we were looking for a cabin to buy we wanted one that would provide all the comforts of home, would be private, and yet would be located conveniently to all the attractions that brought us to the area in the first place.

What makes this cabin unique

Carpe' Diem is a getaway providing luxury accommodations at a reasonable price. You will rest on pillow top mattresses, covered with soft down comforters, relax in the hot tub and recline in plush house robes. There are a lot of accommodation choices in the area...but you won't find one that has been more lovingly designed for your comfort.

Great stay, great amenities, close to all the attractions.

  • 5 of 5

It's a cozy cabin with room for two couples and a couple of kids. The couples can stay in the bedrooms and the kids can stay on a pullout in the living room. Kitchen has all the applicances and although it's a little small, we were able to cook a couple of meals for the 6 of us and a baby. There weren't a lot of channels on the tv for late at night after all the fun in Pigeon Forge. However, I have to tell you, it's a great value!

Weekend Getaway

  • 3 of 5

Overall, we had a nice time at Carpe Diem. When we first got there we had a hard time with the internet and TV but the owners were very responsive in helping us get that fixed. It was a great size for four adults, and the hot tub and pool table were nice additions. There's a few things I would say need improving, the bathrooms weren't as clean as I would have liked them to be (bath tubs and sink had some residue in them), the bed covers upstairs weren't all the way clean, and then the entire cabin was very dusty (I have bad allergies so it was very noticeable for me). Other than some cleaning issues, we had a nice time.

Owner's Response: I'm very surprised at there comments here, we pride ourselves in having a very clean cabin. I inspected our cabin personally and I know for a fact it was clean up on there arrival. we talked to them several times and they never said anything about it not being clean as we would have sent our cleaning lady back to the cabin to corrected the issues, and have since then sent her over there to do a deep cleaning again. I'm sorry these people wouldn't identify themselves here and felt this way.

Underwhelming

  • 2 of 5

The pic online made it seem like it was flat ground to the front door but it was relatively steep. With 2 disabled people in our party that was an issue. It was neat and orderly and cute inside, but a further look showed it wasn't very clean. Dust was falling off the ceiling fans. Dead roaches. And the shower wasn't cleaned... that was gross. It's reasonable to expect bathrooms to be spotless. And the sheets smelled so strong of detergent it gave us headaches... like the bedding was washed but not rinsed thoroughly. The cabin worked but we were expecting more. Just seemed like it was a half-hearted attempt to get ready for the next renters.

Owner's Response: I would agree that its underwhelming to have guest make these kind of comments. When you rent a property in the mountains there's always a slop of some kind, and ours is not very steep, had they called and asked we could have told them it had a sight slop to the Cabin We do have a contract with a Bug man to spray monthly for bugs as this is in the mountains, We would have sent our cleaning lady over there to correct this had we known there was a issue. Our cleaning lady takes linens home to her large washer and washes them thoroughly although some detergents have a strong scent to them. Bathrooms are scrubbed and cleaned and we spend thousands of dollars in maintaining and cleaning this property every year, I'm sorry they felt this way, had we known this we absolutely corrected it. i

Perfect little getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family and I recently stayed 4 days at the Beautiful Cabin in the Smokies. I have to say it was even better than it looked in the photos. Even privacy and quiet area to relax and unwind from the real world. Only five minutes from Wears Valley Road and ten minutes from Pigeon Forge, everything we wanted to do was pretty close to us. Would definitely stay here again if we return to the area.

Well maintained and very peaceful!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Smoky Cove was wonderful. The cabin was perfect for two couples. Beds were so comfortable and the cabin was furnished with all the things you would need. We were super close to PigeonForge for entertainment as well. Definitely would recommend this hidden treasure for a get away!

Perfect weekend getaway

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our time spent here. The only thing keeping it from getting 5 stars would be the lack of glassware and lighting. Other than that, the cabin is excellent. Comfortable furniture and beds, nice hot tub, and relaxing porch! Easy and quick access to the parkway. Thank you for opening your cabin up to us, we will be back next year!! Happy New Year!!!
