Overview

About the property

Country House, 3 Bedrooms + TV room with pull out sofa, 2.5 Baths,

Peace and quiet are just over the ridge from the hubbub of Georgetown Lake. Our 3 bedrooms are furnished with three queens a double pull out sofa and a twin bed. . More sleeping is available in the Game room for camper kids. Snowmobile or four wheel right from our front door to hundreds of miles of trails.

Perched on a forested hillside, our house is just 2.2 miles from the nearest public boat launch, beach and dock on Georgetown Lake. 44 Miles from Butte, 90 miles from Missoula and 6 miles from Philipsburg you can gaze out over the Flint Creek Valley at the Sapphire Mountains from the kitchen, deck or dining/living room. Discovery Basin Ski Area is just 20 minutes away and there's a great loop for cross country skiers, hikers and joggers right from the house. Old Works Golf Course in Anaconda is 30 minutes away and was rated in the 'TOP TEN PUBLIC COURSES' by Golf Magazine. Elk, Deer, Bear and a curious Red Fox are regular visitors. There's a spring creek on our western property boundary and mining ruins just upstream.

THE FISHING UP HERE IS INCREDIBLE! Flint Creek, Georgetown Lake, East Fork Reservoir, Silver Lake and renowned Rock Creek are all fifteen minutes drive or less. There are literally dozens of mountain lakes within an easy hike of the wilderness boundary and several you can drive right to.

Discovery Basin is a mom 'n pop ski area with great beginner terrain and some steep n deep stuff off the backside for more advanced riders. If you are coming in the winter months, you will need to use a 4 wheel drive vehicle, just as we advise you to use on the road to Discovery Ski Area.

There's close access to as much public hunting as you could wish for. Some deer, lots of elk and bear. Granite Ghost Town is 8 miles away and sapphire mining is about the same distance. Philipsburg offers a grocery store, galleries and restaurants. One of the coolest candy stores I've seen is right across from a summer theater with musicals and such. Antiques, art and cowboy bars line Broadway in 'P-Burg'. We will consider pets with a deposit. No internet but the cell service is decent 3G.

Owner's Response: Yes, out spot is a slice of Montana! Beauty, serenity, awesome views! We do maintain our road to the best of our ability, and do state clearly ion our site that 4 wheel, all wheel is a must in the winter. We recommend the same for the road out to The great Discovery ski area. Cross country and snowmobiles from our cabin add to the diversity! Come try it out!

A peaceful retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this peaceful cabin! It's very well stocked, spacious and beautiful! The beds were very comfortable and we loved the deck! We hiked around the area and drove up the road to Georgetown Lake and watched the sun set and then came back for a camp fire and smores!

We had rapid response from owners and they gave great directions to get us there smoothly!

We had a fantastic time in this beautiful, spacious, well stocked home and would stay there again.

  • 5 of 5

11 friends and family members spent a great January weekend in this house and the house fit our needs wonderfully. While the house is nestled pretty far into the woods, we made it to Discovery over cold snowy roads in the advertised 20-30 minutes, seeing moose and elk on the drive in and enjoying the private feel as if the woods were our own. 5 small children ran throughout the house safely and happily, and the interior amenities were even nicer than the pictures. The large kitchen is well stocked, the bedrooms are quiet, the three bathrooms are great for large groups, and many of the personal touches are far above the standard of most VRBOs. If you want a great house in the woods between Georgetown/Discovery and Philipsburg, I highly recommend this house.
