While outside is magical, inside is furnished to perfection for upscale comfort and function. You will feel well cared for here, in your island sanctuary.

It sits above the waterfront for lovely water views. A sizeable deck wraps the house on the waterside where you can enjoy a BBQ evening.

On a misty night, you may choose to stay indoors, gathered around the glow of a Wood Stove. After conversation and contemplation, sit back and enjoy the cable television - complete with all the movie channels, provided in both the living room. WIFI internet and telephone are also available.

Meal preparation is a joy in this kitchen equipped with an island, maple cabinets, granite counters, and stainless steel appliances. Slate and tile are widely used, including in the attractive bathroom where the radiant floors will keep your toes warm.

At the end of the day, there's a comfortable king-size bed in the upper level master bedroom with amazing views. A second bedroom contains a queen bed and there are two twin beds in the third. The home is built on high-bank waterfront and the beach below is a private beach for the Sunrise Community.

Recently remodeled, it is wonderfully fresh and new.

I came to the San Juan Islands in the early 2000's to enjoy the abundance of nature, fishing, scenery and community lifestyle that are unique to the San Juan's. Step back in time in this oasis from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Enjoy the sunrise with a coffee on the deck, and keep your eyes peeled for eagles, whales, otters and seals. Or use my home as a jumping off point for world-class fishing, clamming, crabbing, whale-watching, hiking or simply further exploring the beauty of the San Juan Islands.

Watch eagles fly by while in bed, wake up to a sunrise, catch crab, and clams and eat the same night, feel and see the islands wild with no development in view. Watch sailboats and the ferry go by, watch otters play, roast marshmallows in the fire pit, play musical instruments provided, meditate on the beauty.

Lopez Island + Great view = Fantastic vacation

The house is great...tucked back in the woods on a bluff. There are neighbors but it feels very private. Beds are comfy (though one is comically tall), kitchen is modern/updated, open floor plan is great for entertaining, all facilities worked well, blah blah blah. The view is what takes this place from a 4 star to a 5 star. Coffee/beer/wine/puzzles/whatever are greatly enhanced when you're staring out over the water at boats, islands, bald eagles, sea lions, etc...

It worked well with two small kids. We kept them mostly inside and on the deck as the yard slopes steeply (because is has to drop down to give you the view!). Lopez is always charming, and very unique from San Juan and Orcas...friendlier, more open, less crowded. Lots of very easily accessed parks with great trails and beach access. I rent through VRBO and Airbnb 3 to 4 times a year, and I highly recommend this house!

A Great Get Away!

I had an amazing time in Lopez Island and this house was a big part of that. It had great views of the water. I cooked a lot and never missed a beat in the kitchen, as it had everything I needed. It is also a great place to just escape the fast pace life and get some reading or writing done. It was so cozy.

I will be looking forward to my next stay!

Lopez is magical. Matt's place worked well for us. He's super down to earth. House is close to ferry and the village. House sits on high bank. You can stroll to beach.

R&R at Sunrise Cliff House

We loved the solitude and beauty of the island and the house. Fabulous, water's edge views of picturesque Lopez Sound from the home's great room and master bedroom inspire spells of quiet contemplation. Comfortable and clean, with a wood burning stove we came to cherish! We've already booked our next stay . . .

Thanks for recommending the hiking on Iceberg Point, Matthew. It was a perfect way to spend Christmas day.

"This ride is a non-competitive rural road tour with marked short and long routes (3.1, 5, 10, 18 and 31 miles), on public county roads through the scenic landscape of Lopez. We encourage participants to consider making this a weekend getaway. Besides the ride, BBQ and music on Saturday, you can enjoy the 4th Annual Bite of Lopez and other local activities on Friday. Be sure to register early as this is a sell-out event with limited registration."

CANCELLATION POLICY:
We offer a "No-Penalty-Fee Cancellation Period" for a 2-Month Notice prior to your arrival date. However, If you cancel your reservation within 2 months of your arrival date, and the reservation is not re-booked, the pre-paid rents are not refundable. But, if the home does re-book for the same dates, same length of stay, at the same or greater rental rate, 90% of your prepaid rent deposit is refundable, less a booking fee, within ten (10) days after the replacement booking has paid in full. Security Deposits or Limited Damage Waiver payments are fully refundable if the reservation is cancelled prior to occupancy.

Because unexpected events can impact your travel plans, we recommend that you protect your vacation investment by purchasing travel insurance.

On rare occasion, a reserved property may become unavailable due to unanticipated conditions beyond our control. We accept no liability for such an occurrence, financial or otherwise, but will make every effort to provide you with equal accommodation at the same rental rate. If we are unable to do so, or if you do not accept a provided alternative, unused rental fees and charges will be refunded.

Pay 1st-Half to secure dates. Pay 2nd-Half at 45 days before check-in. Payment is by Check (preferable) or PayPal.
Re Pet Fee: It is $35 per night, per pet. Some discounts may apply.
