The huge main great room has a fireplace on a huge stone hearth. 50' big screen HDTV with DVD. Huge comfy 15ft sectional. Log game table. Nice wall coverings throughout and a bear skin. Large fully stocked kitchen with granite counters and stainless appliances. Huge dining table for 15 or more. Additional counter space w/stools. Parking: for 8-10 vehicles. Garage workbench for your sports gear tune-ups and a ping pong table for the matches.

Truckee has 2 regions. One has the original historic, rustic look with the wooden plank walkways and charming shops etc. from the days of the old west gone by, while the other end of town is contemporary. Both have shops, restaurants, taverns galore. This town has become the #1 hotspot of Tahoe and Tahoe Donner Resort is now famous, google it.

I try hard to give you the absolute best rates. Please do not compare mine to another smaller house or a condo located in a less desirable area like South Shore or Kings Beach or on some busy street like Northwoods in Tahoe Donner. There is no comparison, you would not be comparing apples to apples.

is preferred but you can reach me by phone daily from 9am-7pm

This house is 3 stories. The 2nd story, main floor, has the family room, kitchen, laundry room and 1 master bathroom with full bath. The 3rd story has the 2nd master bedroom with full bath, 2 additional bunk rooms and a hall, full bathroom. The ground floor has 2 bdrms & 1 bath with a 2nd small family room (making it 6 bdrms & 4 ba + a 2nd family room)

Beautiful 'mission' style cabinets, and granite counters. Big and open with lots of counter space and stainless appliances. It has everything for all your kitchen needs, including pots and pans, dishes, coffee maker, microwave, BBQ, etc..

Huge deck with built in benches, seating for 30, that runs the entire length of the back of the house. Great for summer BBQs and family get togethers. Gas BBQ year round for your use.

Large light and bright, there are huge pine trees and aspen views from every window. You will feel the incredibleness of being in the Tahoe National Forest. If you're lucky you may see a buck, or wolf or a bear pass by!

There are 2 master suites with Queen sized beds (one of those master bedrooms has a 'sleep number' mattress so you can adjust the firmness to suit you). The other master on the 3rd floor, has vaulter ceilings and a balcony off it. The other 2 bedrooms have queen over queen custom bunk beds to accommodate up to 4 adults per room. There is also the loft area which has a comfortable 'full size' futon that can accommodate 2 more adults.

Are available option for $15/person or save your $ & bring your own linens (totally up to you, you decide what you want) towels and queen sized sheets (or king size will work). Futon is a 'full size'. Sleeping bags are fine too, especially for kids. 2 blankets and 2 pillows/bed are provided to all 10 beds.

There is an extra large washer and dryer.

Pets are allowed but NOT on any furniture. If this is unacceptable to you please find another house. Also, no 'aggressive breeds' such as Rots, Chow's or Pits or mixes thereof, per my insurance co.

In the summer there is river rafting, scenic 'All Terrain Vehicle' riding and mountain biking at select ski resorts. All are a short drive from Tahoe Donner. Donner Lake is 5 minutes away where you can rent sail boats and kayaks or bring your own boat to our private beach facility. You can swim and sun, have a picnic and enjoy the snack bar there. I also have membership to the exclusive Tahoe Donner, Trout Creek, clubhouse. For about $8 per adult per day (young kids are free) you can get your fill of the 3 pools, 3 hot tubs, steam room, workout room and a full on gym. Tahoe Donner also has horseback riding in the summer with advanced reservation. There are also tennis courts & several golf courses as well.

There are 2 restaurants within Tahoe Donner Resort, one is formal, The Lodge. It is a short distance up Northwoods and the food is phenomenal. You can eat in the formal dining room or the casual bar where you can watch sports on the wide screen T.V.s The other is 'Pizza on the Hill' that serves delicious pizzas, burritos, salads etc..and plays family movies weekly.

Beyond that there are a variety of restaurants galore in the town of Truckee itself, from world renowned fine dining to fast food.

There are lots of shops in Truckee. First there is the 'old town' section with the charming shops, wooden sidewalks, and rustic look of days gone by. Then there is 'new town' which is contemporary. In both you will find an abundance of shopping, from clothing, gifts, ski wear, art, candy, furniture etc..

This is a wonderful, huge mountain home. We love it and think you will too

About Tor McLean

We live in the San Francisco bay area. Been going to Tahoe since I was a kid. Learned to snow ski in Tahoe.

I have been renting our other 3 bedroom house, also in Tahoe Donner, since 2003. In 2009 we aquired this 6 bdrm house. It's very popular. People love it.

Tor McLean purchased this house in 2009

Why Tor McLean chose Lake Tahoe North Shore CA

Tahoe Donner is the place to be. Such a nicely kept development and so many things to do during all seasons. It is such an upscale resort. A mile from town yet quiet and private, off the main road. 1 mile from the popular Trout Creek Recreation Center with 2 pools, hot tubs, full size gym, steam room, sauna and more! 3/4 mile from the tennis courts, pool and Pizza restaurant. Also 1 mile to the golf course and pro shop, a fancy restaurant and lounge. Outside eating available as well. 2 miles to our private and state beaches.

Tahoe Donner is one of the best area's around all of the Lake Tahoe region. Close to everything but not too close, so it's quiet. The natural beauty is spectacular here on the north shore. It is close enough to the SF bay area for a weekend trip. 2.5 hrs from where we are in Walnut Creek.

What makes this house unique

Usually rents as 6 bdrms but we do accept reservations for just the 4 bdrm portion of the house during the off seasons or for a last minute get away, anytime.

Awesome big house that could fit many families!

  • 5 of 5

My family (20+) and I had an awesome stay at Tor's cabin for a family reunion! The house was huge and great for multiple families! My family was coming from Daly City, Sacramento, San Diego, and other cities as well! We went to the Lake which was amazingly fun! It was not even a 10 minutes car ride away, more like 5 minutes! The house had a great kitchen for cooking! It had everything you need like pots, pans, plates, silverware and much more! I would definitely recommend anyone who wants to have a nice family vacation! Look forward to maybe booking this spot again in the future!

Great for large groups with children

  • 4 of 5

Our large party of adults and children was well accommodated in the house. The kitchen was well equipped and it was a great space for a large group.

I appreciated the transparency going into the rental that the house was well used. I may have been disappointed in the state of the house had this not been the case.

Overall I consider this rental a good value for the area.

Great place for multi family weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 22 (five families with lots of kids) booked this property based on needing to find a home that could accommodate several families in one place for a soccer weekend. Large kitchen/dining table area that allows for 12-14 to sit and dine together with an outdoor patio to accommodate the entire group. Kitchen was stocked with all necessities, plates/silverware, etc. you might need. Lots of queen size bunk beds (which the kids LOVED!), and plenty bathrooms to accommodate our large group. There are three (non-bunk) queen rooms for adults wanting own space. We brought our own linens/towels and which was easy enough, with less work at end when tidying up cabin. Owner was responsive when we called with questions and also followed up during our stay to make sure we didn't have any additional questions. I would definitely recommend it for any large party that is looking to stay in Truckee and will treat this home like their own.

Annual Family reunion

  • 5 of 5

This is our 4th year staying at the Davos Cabin. Our family of 30 have a reunion here since 2012. It is very clean and has plenty of room for all of us. We love the kitchen and huge dining area where we can enjoy home cooked meals and good company. It is fully equipped with everything we need to make 3 meals a day for 30 people. There are games for the kids to play with in the latge family room. The owner is very Responsive, We recommend Renting boats and tubing at Donner Lake Marina, a few miles away form the cabin. We highly recommend this cabin. We will be back again next year, it's something that all the kids anticipate every year to have bonding time with the cousins.

Girls getaway

  • 5 of 5

My Ojai womens group decided our monthly meeting would be somewhere cool. We were so happy to be up in the mountains, the wood decks, surrounding pines, vistas of green mountains totally renewed us. It housed us all very well (all 26 of us) and we had a great time cooking together in the well stocked kitchen. The house had such a warm feeling and the amenities made it all work smoothly. We decided we would come back again next year when the heat started getting to us here.

Very comfortable home for large family

  • 4 of 5

We held our annual family reunion at Tor's house. We usually have from 20-30 people attend and it's difficult finding a house that is large enough. Tor's house accommodated 30 of us well. (Three floors, enough bedrooms and bathrooms.) We especially liked the really long dining room table that opened out to a spacious porch. It was nice to be able to save a little money by bringing our own bedding and towels. The kitchen was well stocked and Tor was clear in his expectations. The house was close to Donner Lake and a recreation area, so there was plenty to do.
