Beach Block 6 Bedroom Victorian Home in Center of Town

Bedrooms 6
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

House, 6 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 16)

'Fairwinds' Cottage - 18 Gurney Street, Cape May

This renovated 3-story Victorian Gingerbread Cottage (circa 1869) is one of the Stockton Row homes in Cape May. The house is just steps to the beach, it's about 1/2 a block away. You're located directly in town, in the Historic District, so there's no need to move the car. Restaurants, Shopping, Theaters, Tours, and the Washington Street Mall (outside walking mall) are located within a 4 block radius of the house. Enjoy the sounds of the horse drawn carriages pass by the house as you relax on the front porch.

This house is perfect for one family or two. The large living room with TV, Internet, and DVD's will keep the young ones entertained. If you're planning on cooking during your stay there is plenty of seating for everyone between the large dining room table and the table in the kitchen.

At the back of the house is a very large utility room to dump your beach stuff after a long sandy day at the beach. This makes for easy clean up at the end of your stay.

Parking is quite difficult in Cape May and this house is unique as it has parking for 3-4 cars behind the property. Please note that the driveway is shared with the neighbor and deliveries and trash pick up for the hotel behind the house are also wheeled down the driveway.

About Ami Menz, Broker Associate

Duck and Carol Menz, and their daughter Ami, are longtime residents of Cape May. We own Coastline Realty in town and along with other members of the family own the Inn of Cape May and Aleathea's Restaurant. We all enjoy going to the beaches, especially the dog friendly beaches with Benji and Heather, our two little Lhasa's. Feel free to ask us about town, we'd be more than happy to suggest some fun things to do while you're visiting.

Ami Menz, Broker Associate purchased this house in 1999

Why Ami Menz, Broker Associate chose Cape May

We chose to buy Fairwind's Cottage because of it's location to everything in town. We love Cape May and although we live outside of town, wanted to have an investment property on the island. The Stockton Row homes are the most photographed row of homes taken in Cape May.

What makes this house unique

We actually used to stay here once in a while as short camping trips for our kids when they were younger. They loved it even though it was a 10 minute drive from our house.

Another wonderful trip to Cape May

  • 5 of 5

This home is ideal for our large family gathering. We are always treated very well by the owners and the realtor (Ami) makes sure that our vacations are first rate. We have been coming here for five years now and always rent this house. Each year, the owners add some enhancement to improve the place (this year it was a second refrigerator). We are literally a short walk from the beach, the Washington Street Mall or any number of interesting stores and restaurants. Coming to this house in Cape May each year feels like not only a vacation, but like coming home.

Highly recommended.

Very nice home, well maintained and close to everything

  • 4 of 5

We were looking for a home large enough to bring family back to Cape May for my wife's birthday.

We were very fortunate to find this home which lends itself well to having a large group with plenty of bedrooms, bathroom and a large dining area. The kitchen is a little small but provides a wonderful excuse to try some of Cape May's terrific restaurants. Everyone had a great time and we immediately reserved it again for this year. The realtor who handles the home is very professional and responsive. The driveway is a tad tight but it is very nice to have off the street parking behind the house.

Owner's Response: Hi Paul! We are so glad you enjoyed our house. Our daughter Ami is the realtor that assisted you, we're glad she was able to take care of things for you. Every year we try to do a little more to the house for our guests, this year you'll see a much larger coffee table and a larger assortment of games we hope you and your family can enjoy. So glad to have you back again for another year. - Carol & Duck Menz
