Beautiful and Clean Getaway Home!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I wanted to escape New York City for Labor Day Weekend. We saw Aunt's place was open and we booked it immediately. While driving north to the house we found our way through beautiful scenery and over the reservoir. When we arrived, the house was perfectly clean and there was even a bottle of wine waiting for us! Our stay was comfortable and quiet and the perfect getaway. The second day we were there the weather was not the best and it rained most of the day. Ray and Allyson came over to the house and offered for us to check out later the next day to make up for it! Ray and Allyson were some of the best hosts we have worked with and we definitely plan on returning to this amazing little home for future vacations!

Country setting

The owners and this home are warm and welcoming. We very much enjoyed our stay.

If you love seeing lots of deer, easy-going hikes (Minnewoska State Park), delicious local brews (Rough Cut Brewery) and 24-hour access to amazing local meats (Applestone Meats in Stone Ridge) this area is the place for you.

Wonderful quaint cottage

  • 5 of 5

The warmth of our gracious hosts emanated before we even arrived. From tending to our requests (a guidebook on hiking!) to the unexpected - - bottle of wine waiting. They could not have been more lovely. The two bedroom cabin was immaculately appointed, and the history of the place was fascinating. Walking distance to the reservoir. We enjoyed relaxing on the porch in the red rocking chairs every evening. We hope to return. Thank you!

Quaint, cute and with character.

Owners were great. Really responsive and easy to coordinate with. The complimentary wine was a nice touch. The water does have a strong sulfur smell. They provided drinking water which was key. We were here in January so the gas stove made it nice and cozy.

Owner's Response: Very happy you enjoyed your stay. The water in this area has a touch of sulfur which is a little stronger due to lack of rain. The water is tested on a regular basis and is fine for drinking. We were so surprised on Sunday when our neighbor who looks after the property called us wanting to know if we had left a window open. He was going to go in and close the window, but we told him we had guests. The window was wide open all day and well into the night or early morning with the temperature dipping to 15 degrees above zero. Very disappointed, Ray & Allyson

This is an AMAZING house! First, let me say the owners are wonderful. They responded quickly to me and were so nice. They were in constant contact with us throughout our travels, as we hit traffic along the way and arrived later than expected. When we arrived, we were so happy. The owners were so pleasant and were there to greet us. The house was beautiful and perfect for my boyfriend and I. It was spotless and had everything that we needed for our weekend of relaxation and celebrating New Years. Down the rode is a beautiful reservoir - there is so much history that comes with the house. The fireplace was delightful along with the openness of the house. There are supermarkets 10-15 minutes away... The owners are very accommodating and helpful to tell you places if you wish to go out. There is also a delicious chocolate place called fruition near by that we stumbled across. We were so sad to leave! Such a beautiful house with great hosts. We can't wait to come back and go hiking in the warmer months. Thank you so much again, Ray and Allyson! Happy New Year and see you soon!!!

Just returned from a fabulous weekend stay at Aunt's Place - the house was perfect! We enjoyed cooking meals in the kitchen and sitting by the fireplace at night. Ray and Allyson were very nice and gracious hosts and quick to respond to our questions!
