About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3.5 Baths, Dog Friendly, Hot Tub, Sleeps 6

Hummingbird House is a beautiful find: a lovely well-equipped home on a sunny property with views, privacy, numerous amenities, and a central Russian River Valley location. Sit out on one of the lovely decks with morning coffee, soaking up the sun, enjoying the tranquility. Then, set off on a great day of exploring all Sonoma County has to offer! When the day is done, come back, make dinner with the local ingredients you've collected, and take an evening soak in the large hot tub.

FREE NIGHT SPECIAL! 3 Nights for the price of 2 starting in January! Or get an additional night free with any stay 2 nights or longer! Valid January 2nd-March 31st. Excludes February 13th-19th. Not applicable to retroactive reservations.

To book the special on VRBO and HomeAway, make your reservation for 2 or more nights. Include a comment about which night you would like to add for free. As long as the night is available, we’ll take care of the rest!

Hummingbird House is a 3 story home nestled against a sloping hill and overlooking a grove of redwood trees. The top story, which is also the entry-level, has the open living room, kitchen and dining areas. The kitchen is well-equipped, the dining table comfortably seats 6 people, and the living room has floor to ceiling windows, a large couch, a flat screen TV (you can log in to your Netflix, Pandora or HuluPlus accounts) and a wood-burning stove. Sliding doors lead from the dining area out to the first of three decks, where the gas BBQ and outdoor dining table are located. Also on the top story are a small office, with a desk perfect for finishing a bit of work or browsing the internet, and a bathroom with a free-standing tub.

The second story, accessed by stairs from the living area, has a bedroom with a queen bed, a half bath/laundry room, and the master bedroom, with a king bed, its own bathroom and sliding doors to the middle story deck. The master bedroom bathroom has a shower/bathtub combo. Stairs from the middle story hall lead to the lowest story, which is entirely made up of a bedroom suite with a queen bed, small sitting area and a bathroom with a shower. A door leads from the suite to the lowest deck, where the large hot tub and lounge chairs are located. The hot tub deck can also be accessed by a spiral staircase from the second level deck or from stairs leading up from the yard.

The meadow-like yard is large and is full of open space and scattered fruit trees. The upper portion of the sloping hillside is tastefully landscaped. There is plenty of space for kids to play and dogs to run (please note the yard is not fenced, so unleashed dogs need to be under voice control). Surrounding the open meadow area is a forest of redwood trees. The Russian River is just down the road, and river access is less than a mile away. The start of Russian River Valley Wineries is less than 3 miles away.

Know Before You Book:

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Hummingbird House is 6. Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at any time.

Parking: On-site parking is permitted for a maximum of 3 vehicles. RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Security Deposit vs. Damage Protection:

When you make your reservation, you will automatically be assigned a security deposit, plus a $30 non refundable processing fee.

The alternative to the large deposit and processing fee is the damage protection program, which is $49 and covers up to $3000 in accidental damages.

The damage protection program is an insurance policy. The $49 is not refundable, but you’d be covered if you accidentally broke a wine glass…a lamp…or if someone knocked over something major, like the television. There is no processing fee associated with the damage protection program.

If you would prefer the damage protection program, please include a note with your reservation. If you do not include a note, we do contact all guests before charging the security deposit and processing fee in order to confirm your preference.

Office Hours and Booking Information:

Our office is open from 9 am to 5 pm every day, excluding major holidays.

After making a booking and confirming their security deposit vs. damage protection preference, guests will be sent arrival instructions and a contract with our terms in detail to sign and return. You will be contacted within 24 hours of making your reservation.

No same-day reservations past 2 pm. It should not happen, but in case the system is allowing you to book for same-day arrival and it is after 2 pm, please reach out to us. If it is after 5 pm, please do not complete your reservation; no one will be available to process your reservation and prepare for your arrival.

Bed Sizes: Master bedroom: King bed; Second bedroom: Queen bed; Downstairs bedroom: Queen bed.

Location: Great wine country location! Hummingbird House offers a deal of privacy. Although there are other homes in the tucked-away neighborhood, there are no visible homes from the back decks or the back side of the house. There are no immediate neighbors. Despite the privacy, Hummingbird House is located on a very accessible, well-maintained road and is just a short drive to wineries, restaurants, and other attractions the area has to offer.

About Russian River Vacation Homes

We are Russian River Vacation Homes, a part of D&G Equity Management, Inc., a family owned and locally owned/operated property management company.

In 1980, D&G founders and owners Michael and Patty saw a need in the area for habitable, affordable housing. At that time, many of the little cabins along the Russian River, originally built as summer cabins, were unsuitable for year-round occupancy. D&G assisted property owners with fixing up and renting their cabins. As the largest property management company in western Sonoma County, D&G Equity Management continues to be a staple in the Russian River community.

Russian River Vacation Homes is an off-shoot of D&G. One fine day in 1985, Michael's client, Bob, asked "Hey Mike, can you rent my cabin out just for the week or weekend instead of by the month?" Michael said "Sure!" and Russian River Vacation Homes was born. As renting vacation rentals became more popular, Russian River Vacation Homes grew into a full-time business with its own office. Today, Russian River Vacation Homes professionally manages over 60 high-quality vacation rentals.

We strive to make each and every stay the best one ever. If you have any questions or concerns about reserving or staying with us, please don't hesitate to contact us! We are here to help.

Fantastic stay! Couldn't ask for a better place!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Hummingbird House was fantastic. It is located in a perfect spot, lots of privacy, yet so close to some amazing wineries and the Russian River. We wish we could've stayed longer!

Great House within 20 minutes to so many great things!

  • 4 of 5

House was clean and comfortable. Yard was spacious and with all the trees on the property you felt secluded and it was quiet. 20 minutes from Redwoods, 20 minutes from Downtown Santa Rosa, and minutes to so many wineries.

Clean, secluded, and very easy.

  • 5 of 5

The property, though a bit dated, was well cared for and clean. Kitchen was well stocked, so I recommend going to the house first before going to the store. They don't toss or take spices or dry goods from the previous renters making it a bit more affordable. Plenty of dishes and kitchen supplies. Bathrooms also well stocked. There were six of us celebrating a birthday for four nights. We had a blast and enjoyed the house.

Charming place with beautiful yard

  • 4 of 5

Hummingbird house was perfect for 2.5 couples traveling with our dogs, who loved the wonderful terraced yard and porch areas. The home has lovely big window on the upper levels overlooking it all. The area is beautiful and was close to the vineyards we were visiting. The house was clean and comfortable and had most of what we needed. We did cook a dinner there and 2 breakfasts and it would have been helpful to have a small supply of napkins and aluminum foil. We usually find those in the VRBOs we've stayed at, perhaps they just ran out. Also, beware that there is no way to shut the front door without it locking, so memorize the 6 digit key code immediately or keep it with you at all times. There is a small sign but there's a good chance you won't see it until it's too late the first time. But once you are used to that, it's helpful not to have to share a key between the guests!

Notes

  • Additional Fees
    -Cleaning/Linens Fee
-14% Taxes on Rent and Cleaning (12% Transient Occupancy Tax and 2% Business Area Improvement Fee)
    -Damage Protection, see below
    -Optional Travel Insurance

DAMAGE PROTECTION: Guests choose between a $49 Vacation Rental Damage Protection Fee and a $1000 Refundable Security Deposit. A $30 Processing Fee is added to reservations with the Security Deposit option. The Vacation Rental Damage Protection is strongly recommended and is the option most guests choose. It covers up to $3000 of accidental damage and can be used for many common 'damages,' such as an excessively dirty hot tub or pet-related damage.

CHOOSING OPTIONAL FEES: If you book through VRBO/HomeAway, both Damage Protection options and the Optional Travel Insurance show in the rates. State your preference in the comments section of the reservation and we will adjust the rates before processing payment. If no preference is stated, we will contact you prior to processing payment.
  • When a reservation is received, we process payment and send an email confirmation within 24 hours or less. Confirmed reservations are final.

    NIGHT MINIMUMS:
-Two night minimum October to Memorial Day Weekend (holidays have a higher night minimum)
-Three night minimum Memorial Day Weekend through late June, and September
-Four night minimum end of June through August, expect week minimum over the July 4th Holiday and the first week of August.
-Major holidays including Thanksgiving, Winter Break and President's Day may have a longer night minimum.
-All specials exclude holidays and must be mentioned at the time of reservation.

Read our Reservation Info for more information on our policies, including night minimums and rates.
  • NOTE: We use an automated system that integrates the VRBO/HomeAway booking engine with our own reservation software. This is generally a good thing; calendars and rates are more accurate than they ever have been and are becoming more reliable every day. However, this is new technology, and has occasionally malfunctioned. If your reservation seems to go through for less than the stated night minimums, or if the rental rates or availability seem too good to be true, be aware that the system may be experiencing an integration issue and your reservation may not be accepted. If you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to give us a call.
