About the property

3 Bedrooms 3 Bath House With Gulf Views, Walk to Beach, Shops, Cafes

Our parents came to Anna Maria in 1964 and all we got was this beach house that is still in the family. This house is unpretentious and well loved and sits a mere 150 steps down the road from the soft, white sandy beach on the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. We are a short stroll away from the heart of Anna Maria (Pine Avenue) where you can find boutique shopping, dining, cafes and scooter/bike rental. Around the corner, you will find a bakery, a sandwich shop, an ice cream parlor and souvenirs galore.

Why Dani Capitano chose Anna Maria Island

Location, location location! Prosperity on the island has grown since the land was purchased, but the location of our property is still amazing! We are steps from the gorgeous beach, and a short stroll away from what is considered the heart of Anna Maria- Pine Avenue- where you will find shops, eateries, novelty stores and a bakery or two.

What makes this house unique

Our house is a comfortable, unpretentious place to relax and put your feet up. The third floor boasts an open kitchen concept with dining/living room. French doors open up to a balcony, where you can sit and enjoy dinner or grab a seat on the porch swing to listen to the gulls. Besides wi-fi, there is a closet full of board games, and several books throughout the bedrooms to choose from. Trust us, you'll want to take an evening walk on the sand down by the water which is close proximity to the house and hear the waves.

Perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

We got to stay at this rental over the 4th of July. Little did we know what fun we would have! There was a parade that was so fun and entertaining that we forgot how hot we were. My kids went home with candy, many Mardi gras bead necklaces and were soaked by the water gun fight that the parade "offers". It was awesome! As for the property, we had 9 people and had plenty of room for sleeping, eating and lounging. And it is only a very few steps to get to the ocean! But don't forget the neighbor's fresh fish market. We ate the best fresh fish all week! (Course we had to eat at the Sandbar across the street one night and give my hubby (the chef) one night off:) This property is truly in a perfect location and was perfect for making memories with our family!

My family and I loved the house...steps from the beach

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at this home. It has great views and just steps from the sand. The house has everything you could need. The island has alot of restaurants in walking distance or if you want to prepair your own food, the house is fully equipt for you to do so. Very comfortable feel to the place.I have not slept better in months before our stay. It did rain one day on our vacation but the house has cable, internet, a lot of board games and books to read. There is an amazing porch swing off the bedrooms that I had to pry my teenagers off. Everything is within walking distance from the house. I loved that the kitchen and living space were separate from the bedrooms, just in case someone needed to rest they had separate spaces. My kids range from 5 to 21 and there was something for everyone to do. It is a great place for a family with children of all ages to stay. We have stayed at other homes on vacation and this is by far one of the best. We will be booking this home again in the future.

Owner's Response: Jaime, Thank you so much! It was absolute pleasure to have you. It makes me so happy that your kids loved the giant porch swing- my husband built it recently and I was hoping people would really enjoy it! Thank you for taking such good care of the house, as we worked really hard to get her back in good shape after our mom passed away- so happy you all had such a great vacation! :) :) Best, Dani

We stayed here Dec 25th-30, 2016. I hope this review is posted because of the 9 reviews, they are all over 2 years, (2014, 2013, 2011, 2010 etc). Upon arrival Nancy, the owner's , sister appeared and talked with us for about 1 1/2 mins. and made sure we found the key, and she quickly said something about living in a "tall" house. On the last day we were there we fiqured she ran the seafood shack, next door. The rental house is 3 stories, which you can clearly see in the pics. FYI, if you or anyone in your party is unable to climb stairs, this is not the place. There are 15 stairs to the second level, which has 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths and a washer and dryer in a closet in the hall. Then you walk up another 15 steps to the 3rd floor, where the kitchen and living room, and another full bath is. It was 80 degrees each day and the 3rd floor got hot, so there was a old nasty with black mold window air conditioner that upon turning on sounds like a freight train. We tried running the AC unit while we were gone. FYI, there were no hand soap, towels, no paper towels, no dish liquid, no dish washer liquid, laundry detergent etc. We did find all the towels above the washer and dryer, they were old but adequate. Plenty of beach towels. This is not a rental that you "oh, and ah" , my and husband's face dropped as we walked through the place. We decided we will make due. The internet, and cable did not work, and there was no contact info for the owner or the sister. In our group of 5, we all tried our luck at getting connected to the internet and the cable. Everything is old, a bit dingy, the sheets on each bed had miss matched sheets that were all worn. So, if stairs do not bother you, and the unit is subpar, and you bring all your own supplies for kitchen and bathrooms, (we went to CVS on Christmas Day to buy everything, when we arrived), and it is about a block and half, from the beach, view of water is minimal from the 3rd story. I contacted the owner, Nancy, several times before and after our trip and she responded very promptly. She allowed us an early check in, at noon, and we left check out at 3:30 am. Could not contact her while we were there, we had no internet. After we got home and had internet service I told her of the 3rd floor AC unit, and the dryer old and took about 2 hrs to dry an average load. She mentioned she had not been there in some time, and would see about replacing these items. Great location!

Owner's Response: Hi Renee! Thank you for taking the time to write. And, you are absolutely correct about older reviews. I apologize for such a late response. I wanted you to know that we really are not irresponsible landlord types. Our parents bought this property almost 60 years ago, and finally were able to build on it during the late 80's. We lost our mother fairly suddenly a few years back and so for one reason or another, my siblings and I let the beach house go. We actually listed it to sell right after Christmas, but had a change of heart. And so, my husband and I are dedicated to getting our house back in working order so that people can enjoy it as much as we always have. Our mom would have wanted as much. You spoke with my older sister, Nancy, on the phone and met our mother's cousin whom lives next door in the "tall house". I feel badly that you had a difficult time with the internet, and with it being Christmas I understand and share your disappointment. I can't say why you were unable to reach Nancy, but I do apologize for any inconvenience. Whitecaps is exactly 200 yards from the beach and Pine Avenue, which is the heart of Anna Maria and just a block and half away. It is true the house has an awful lot of steps- not for the faint of heart, as you know, and our home has that kitch factor; our mother loved vintage Florida! We know that we have work to do! So, I thank you for your review. I have taken it to heart and will be sure to provide future guests with items you mentioned. I wish you safe travels! Warm regards, Dani Capitano at Whitecaps

Perfect location and the best Price !

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay there for two full 2 weeks over the Holidays in Dec. Our family had 4 adults and 2 children (8 &15).

Location, location , location ! The closeness to the best beach on the island was the ultimate ! We can walk there anytime and the kids can come and go on there own. Its like having a beach front property but w/ half the cost. We can see the gulf ocean from the living room porch.

There are lots of amenities near the house , like restaurants, coffee shops, gift shops, rentals, ice cream shop, etc. all w/in walking distance. It has a nice pedestrian neighborhood feel to the place. It was never noisy or over crowed. It is also close to the City Dock area where one can also fish. This northern end of the island is really the best in comparison to the rest. We are really glad we got to stay at this part of town.

We also joined and took advantage of the nearby City Community Center while we were there. It offers workout facilities, tennis courts and athletic fields. It a great place to meet other tennis players.

The house is not luxurious , but very clean and comfortable and had all the necessities.

The Owner was very nice to work with and responded promptly when we called or had questions. You just cant go wrong w/ this place at this price.

We would definitely go there again !

Charming and Vintage

  • 4 of 5

We loved the White Caps. Perfect for our daughter's wedding on the island. We hope to return every summer for a reunion. The beach house had everything we needed. You can almost walk or use trolley to get or go wherever. The Waterfront restaurant is amazing, excellent appetizers and entrees.

I was a little hesitant with the rental being reasonably priced but was pleasantly surprised. The home was in a great location and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The area is very laid back and in walking distance to shopping and places to eat. We enjoyed a very short walk to the beach and there was a great place to eat on the beach at the end of the street. We would love to rent the house again!

Anna Maria
Car: not necessary

If you are looking for a five star resort, Anna Maria is not for you. High-rises and resort clubs are prohibited on the island; most rentals are second homes belonging to families who have been coming here for generations. Our beach house is filled with old school charm and serves as a comfortable place for folks to gather and relax. the third floor kitchen is sufficient for cooking dinner, with enough room in the adjoining dining/living area to entertain your whole family or group of friends. The third floor balcony boasts some beautiful views of the beach, and especially the sunset. The three bedrooms are located on the second floor, two of which open up to a screened in porch. Our mother's fisherman cousin lives next door, so don't forget to pop over and purchase some of his delicious fresh fish caught that morning off of Anna Maria. Stroll on over to the Sandbar for dinner and some live island music, or walk down Pine Avenue and check out a plethora of cafes and boutiques. Ginny and Janey's, around the corner, sells home made giant cinnamon rolls (my children's favorite) and bottomless coffee for breakfast. Bring a great book (or borrow one of ours) and relax on quite possibly one of the most beautiful beaches in the country.
