Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7-9)

Get away from it all to our peaceful alpine retreat nestled in aspens and pine trees with a view of the mountains (the backside of Squaw Valley’s KT22). Our welcoming family home has an open architectural design with cathedral ceilings and large windows providing an abundance of natural light.

Relax in our great room with cozy wood burning fireplace and sliding door to the deck. A large fully-equipped kitchen has butcher block counter tops and stainless steel appliances. Downstairs there are two bedrooms: one with a queen size bed and one with a new twin/full bunk bed, perfect for kids. Upstairs there is a master bedroom with a queen size bed and a loft with a sofa-bed. In summer, enjoy the spacious deck with comfortable patio furniture and gas BBQ grill. There is ample parking for four cars out front.

For entertainment, there is a 42” Sony HDTV, blu-ray DVD player, Xbox, Kinect and broadband Wi-Fi internet. Kids can enjoy a bookcase full of children's books, board games, puzzles and coloring books. A new portable crib, baby chair and high chair are available for use.

Alpine Meadows is an adventure playground! In winter, enjoy world-class skiing and snowboarding at Alpine Meadows ski resort(1 mile), Squaw Valley (4 miles), NorthStar (18 miles) and more. When spring arrives, hop straight onto a wealth of hiking and biking trails, ride horses/ponies at Alpine Meadows Stable, raft and fish the nearby Truckee river and enjoy the lake (boating, beaches and play parks). Explore locally run shops and fantastic restaurants in Tahoe City (5 miles) or Truckee (11 miles).

We love to spend time at our second home with our family and friends and look forward to sharing it with you. It is perfect for one to two families but it is not a home for large parties or groups.

About Fiona

We love to ski, mountain bike, hike and enjoy the outdoors.

Fiona purchased this house in 2010

Why Fiona chose Lake Tahoe North Shore CA

Alpine Meadows is quiet, rustic and the best place to “unplug”! We love to ski Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley and originally bought the house for winter use. However, we discovered the true delights of summer in Tahoe and have taken full advantage of the many hiking and mountain biking trails (one of the best mountain bike rides starts from right outside our front door!). We also enjoy pony riding at Alpine Meadows Stable, the beaches and water sports on the lake and the great nearby restaurants in Squaw, Tahoe City and Truckee.

What makes this house unique

Well equipped, comfortable and cozy house with newer furniture, appliances and bedding. Quiet location very close to Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley ski resorts. Great shops and dining in nearby Tahoe City and Truckee.

Great Trip, Great Cabin, Great Owners

  • 5 of 5

This might get a little long, but when I chose to book I had a lot of questions that were not answered by the small number of previous reviews. Our trip was a mini-reunion composed of my wife and I (30s), our child, my two sisters (20s), and my Father (60s). it sounds full, but the cabin was the perfect fit with room for a couple more.

The Cabin:

The cabin is easy to get to with enough parking for at least 3 cars (even with 30 inches of fresh snow).

Everything was clean and worked perfectly.

The front entry has plenty of storage for jackets and boots and gear.

The beds are very comfortable and the couches in the living room were just as good for post skiing naps.

The Kitchen is FULLY STOCKED with lots of counter space for prep work if you're the house chef (I am). Crock pot, waffle maker, big pans, small pans, cookie sheets, coffee grinder, coffee maker, its all there. There's an in-sink disposal and very quiet dishwasher as well.

The Dining table was plenty big for our meals and family games of UNO.

There's a nice TV next to the fire place with no cable/satellite, but a small movie collection and DVD player.

There is also cable internet, so we were able to stream some movies from netlfix as well.

We have an 18 month old, so it was great that the cabin had a Small Crib (Pack'n Play) and high chair for meals.

The Owners:

The Owners were very accommodating and happy to answer any questions before and after check-in. Truthfully, this made all the difference for us. I made several inquiries in the area with only one response.

The Area:

We're probably sticking with Alpine Meadows for any future trips to the Tahoe Area. Its peaceful and secluded. If you're looking for nightlife and lots of restaurants, the village at Squaw Valley is only a 15 minute drive.

Things to Know:

The area has terrible cell phone reception. I was happy to turn off my phone for a week, but my father used the internet to check emails here an there. ENJOY!

Ideal 2 family winter getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is a great weekend getaway for 2 small families. The house is in an ideal location for skiing at Alpine (or Squaw); house is laid out nicely, is clean, and has all the comforts of home: nice linens, plenty of blankets & pillows, nice kitchen assortment, wi-fi, XBox. Pleasant interaction with the owner. My family would love to rent this house again!

Wonderful vacation at comfortable family home

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful vacation we had over Christmas at this amazing, cosy and comfortable mountain cabin. Even with new snow, access was no problem. On Christmas Eve it snowed some more, making Christmas Day picture perfect, with breathtaking mountain views from all the large double glazed windows. The cabin is furnished to a very high standard with a spacious, well equipped modern kitchen. A quick car ride takes you to great skiing and local shops /restaurants. The hardest part was leaving this memorable and welcoming family home.
