I rented both of the houses at La Casa Verde for the weekend of my wedding. I live in San Francisco but had family coming in from all over the country. I had driven by the house many times and noticed it because it has quite a presence so I was really excited when I saw it listed on homeaway. It turned out to be the perfect decision and place to host my family. Many of my family members had not seen each other in years so to have them all together was a treat for everyone. We had 19 people total and between the two houses there was plenty of room for everyone. The houses were modern, clean and had good flow. They also had good common space for cooking and eating and visiting which was important to us. I live in the neighborhood so I am familiar with it and think it is the best place in San Francisco to live and visit. The Mission has everything you could possibly want and if you can't find it there is easy transportation to get anywhere else in the city. Renting both houses at La Casa Verde was a great decision for our family. I would definitely do it again.
It is designed for people with NO mobility problem as we did not know it was two floors with hard slippery wood steps. It is not made for toddlers either too. It is only great for ONE family. We were two families and we did not know that the bathrooms were located in the bedrooms and we had to go through the bedrooms to the bathroom. No privacy. And the huge big bathroom has no doors. It's a cool design but a waste of space. The 3rd bathroom is tiny with just toilet and sink. You have to publicize that its 2.5 bathrooms but not for two families or set of friends.
One of the showers is computerized electronic (no faucet handles) design. It took us a while to figure out while wasting water. No instruction.
- A unique lamp in the center of a bedroom above the bed in one of the bedroom is not working
- (Need to add night reading lights in this same bedroom)
- television in another bedroom with the massive bathroom is not working right.
- Problems with heat but we finally got it up and running; Owner at first was rude as we woke her up. Then she contacted us later the week offering
to assist which we managed without her help.
-lobby light above the entrance door - we tried to turn it off to save electricity, but it flickers non-stop so we left it on 24 hours.
- no battery in the smoke detector near the entrance fixture (we could see it open and empty)
- not enough plastic bags to throw our garbages out as required by o
I followed the protocol of closing up the place. I am concerned about washing the towels. It is very hard to wash the towels if we use it in the morning and ready to leave for the airport. This rises our concerns that other people could just dry the towels and fold it without WASHING IT. We would not know if its washed or not. We took a shower the night before to be able to wash the towels. WE PREFER TO PILE THE TOWELS AND LET THE OWNER OR MANAGER WASH THEM like with the sheets and pillow cases.
- Sheets are worn out. It needs to be replaced. Some blanket and quilts are torn. I took pictures but cannot find how to upload them.
-Not accessible to small food grocery shops.
I will not recommend this overpriced dwelling to other friends. I have been a strong Home Away user and this is the first time I am not pleased with it. I prefer Home Away over other competitors. but having a second thought will look into others for this summer at a beach resort. Thank you. and Happy New Year
We atteneded a conference at Fort Mason's marina in San Francisco. This house was convenient and allowed for an easy commute to and from the venue. We had 5 people We rented a car and was able to find parking within a few blocks of the property each night. Every morning we had to relocate for street cleaning. This allowed us to find new places to grab coffee or an early morning juice from the local fresh juicing bar. We had a group of 5 (3 women and 2 men) and it worked out well for our group.
We would consider staying here again.
Robin cancelled our booking one week before our travel date. The reason she gave was that the apartment was double booked and she hadn't realised.
Really interesting property and a good base for exploring San Francisco.
The house which is split into two and we had the smaller part without the endless pool/spa - but it was still fine for accommodating 8 people - 4 adults , 4 kids. The location is good and handy for the main street and just a 10 minute stroll to the metro. Easy to get to from the airport and no point in hiring a car just Uber and use public transport.
The house is also a Pokestop which went down very well with one of our party !
Robin, the owner, was really helpful in the run up to the booking and all the information provided was spot on.
