Terrific place

We were upgraded to this unit for our recent stay and boy were we impressed! It's a beautiful unit, super clean and very inviting. Cam was helpful when we needed her but otherwise, it was our home away from home for a week. We will absolutely be back to rent here again.

This place is absolutely amazing in every way. We couldn't have asked for more or been happier with our stay. Smooth check-in and out...we were even allowed to check-in early and out late to accommodate our flights. The place was spacious, super clean, quiet, and just all around wonderful! I really can't say enough good things...and you can bet when I come back to NOLA(which I will), I will be staying here again! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

This condo was absolutely perfect and exactly what I was looking for. My party included myself and my husband, and my sister and her husband. We came for the New Year's festivities in New Orleans. For my sister and I, it was our first time in New Orleans. When we were looking for a place to stay, we wanted somewhere in the French Quarter, not too far from Bourbon Street, and affordable since it was New Year's. This apartment met all of our qualifications! The pictures of the living area do not do it justice. The living area is a lot more spacious than I thought it would be, and the bedroom and bathroom were great as well. We had definitely enough room for four people and our luggage. The walk to Bourbon Street and anywhere in the French Quarter was great! Just walk a few blocks down either Toulouse or St. Peters, and you are right in the heart of the French Quarter. Paying for parking is absolutely worth it. We parked our car, and didn't move it but one day when we ventured out of the French Quarter. Everything is literally within walking distance. There's a small market not too far away that we were able to get a few necessities and very reasonable. Communication was great with Camela! We were able to get into the apartment about 20 minutes before check in at 3 pm, and she was super helpful and very friendly. We had zero problems with the fold out sleeper sofa, and it was actually more comfortable than a traditional sleeper sofa mattress. The apartment building was SUPER quiet. It was definitely nice to get away from the loud crowds and drunks on Bourbon Street, and walk home to our cozy, quiet apartment. The apartment and Camela overall was perfect, absolutely perfect. Everything was within walking distance, the gated parking and building made us feel safe, and Camela was such a gracious host. I will definitely keep Camela in mind for my stay in New Orleans EVERY single time. Thank you for your amazing hospitality!

The one word to describe the stay at this condo is disappointing. I read the previous reviews and I was excited to meet Cam. She sounded like she was going to be a great resource for the best places to eat and things to do, but when she met with us to check in she treated us like we were inconveniencing her by arriving later in the day. This seemed odd because when we booked the room, we made sure she knew all of our flight information. It was also written in the contract. She requested that we call her when we got on the shuttle so she would have a better idea of our arrival time. Which we did. While she was showing us the condo, we asked about a market nearby. She just said there was one down the street a couple of blocks and that was about it. I just figured she was tired and we didn't want to bother her with any other questions. She finished showing us the condo and left. 

The next morning, I was unhappy to find that the air mattress on the sofa bed was almost flat. Since we had a little trouble filling the air mattress the night before, we figured that we hadn't filled it up enough or didn't close the cap tight, so we didn't call to complain. We just made sure the second night that we filled it up fully and that the cap was on as tight as we could make it. In the morning it was completely flat, so we called the owner right away. She said she wished we had called her after the first night because it was going to be hard for her to get a replacement on Saturday. She said she would try. We figured she was on it and hoped that when we returned that night we would have a new mattress or even some padding or something so we wouldn't be waking up on a hard surface, again, but nothing. She never contacted us until our last night. She texted that she couldn't find a replacement and she would refund our cleaning fee. So, now we had another rough night to look forward to. Because I had spent three nights now on a hard bed, my back and neck were sore and since I knew I was going to suffer through another night, I wanted to take a hot bath before bed. I got another dose of disappointment. The tub would not hold water. The water was now cold so I took a five minute bath, some ibuprofen, and went to bed. I am not a person who is never satisfied or grateful. If I was, I would have called after the first night. To me, it seems like Cam did not try to find a solution to a serious problem that was simple to fix.

Owner's Response: Its hard to respond to this as it is not quite how I remember the situation. I'm not sure was expected when they arrived, but I gave them the same "tour" of unit I give everyone. Most folks don't want to sit and talk to me; they want to get out and see NOLA so I try to make it as brief as possible. I actually did explain to them how to get to the local market in detail. I did not hear about the mattress situation until Saturday afternoon after they had slept on it for two nights and everything was already closing. I could not get a replacement for them and for that I did apologize and gave them a credit on their bill. (I now have a spare and I will keep on on hand always.) I never heard a word from them (or any other guest) about a faulty plug in the tub. We checked it out after we read the review and it seems to be working fine. Things do break or malfunction. We try very hard to get everything fixed as soon as is humanly possible. It is very hard to please all the people all the time even though we try very hard to do so. We rent five units in this building and they are full almost every weekend and the vast majority enjoy their stay very much. I apologize if I did not recognize that these guests were probably were not familiar with VRBO travel. While I try to text our guests with any information they might ask for and be responsive as best I can, I also have a full time job and do my best to work around that. I think my guests will agree that I respond to there communications within 15 minutes of asking for something. However, I think sometimes visitors might be happier in a full service hotel where there are more amenities such as a 24/7 desk or an on site concierge. I am very sorry that these guests did not enjoy their visit.

Cannot Recommend

I find it hard to believe that someone who makes their living renting places to people on vacation, wouldn't have all kinds of back-up items on hand, like a replacement air mattress. These mattresses have a tendency to wear out pretty easily, especially when used often and folded up in a sofa bed. I consider myself an easy going person and I try to make the best out of every situation. It was very hard to make the best of this situation. I hardly got any sleep for four nights because the air mattress in the condo wouldn't hold air. When we contacted the owner after two nights of the bed going flat, she treated my girlfriend like we were in the wrong for not contacting her after the first night. Truthfully, we weren't sure if we had filled it correctly, so we wanted to give it another try before calling and complaining. After that, we never heard from her until she texted us on our last night that she couldn't fix the problem, and was giving our small cleaning fee back. In my opinion, it is ridiculous to think that she couldn't think of any way to help us for our last TWO nights there. She really didn't seem to care that we were sleeping on a very hard surface. I suffer from a bad back, and after the first night, I was taking pain medication to get through the day.

After that, the first night I slept on a real bed, I woke up in the middle of the night to see if the bed needed more air.

Two Stars Was More Than Fair

I was one of three people (a single woman over 60 and a couple, 35 and 50 ) who rented this condo. We agreed that we wanted to be fair in our review even though we were unpleasantly surprised and disappointed at the way we were treated by the owner. The condo was very clean and mostly as described in the VRBO ad. No one was at fault for the noise from the major construction going on up and down the street in front, nor for the noise of other tenants and foot traffic, especially at night.

The problem was this: The first night (of four) the air mattress that was found rolled up in the sofa bed lost a lot of air during the night and the couple sleeping on it woke up on the hard surface of the bed's frame. Thinking that they might not have inflated it fully, and not wanting to complain right away, they decided to try it again. The second night it completely deflated after a couple of hours and they got up several times to put air in it, but found themselves lying on the frame again. We called the owner that second morning. She responded with annoyance, scolding us that we should have called sooner; no assurance that the problem would be taken care od and no apology. I should mention that this was just an ordinary camping-type air mattress. I have the same one at home. It is not a pricey air bed (and even if it was). It can be purchased at a Walmart or similar stores. I checked when I got home and there are several in the city and they all have numerous air mattresses. The owner had no back-up plan, no demonstrated problem-solving ability and no expressed sense of responsibility. She did nothing. She texted us on the last night saying she would return our cleaning fee. She would not take my call the next morning before we checked out. I feel that her behavior was unacceptable. Luckily, we had decided to spend the second part of our trip in another VRBO rental, and it was GREAT. We would highly recommend that rental. I guess I could say that if you stay in this condo and have no problems, maybe just a couple not needing the "sofa sleeper", this would be an acceptable place to stay. We cannot recommend it.
