About Laura and John Fairless

I'm Laura. My husband John & I live & work in Seaside, keeping up this wonderful home for travelers & family alike. Many travelers have said how wonderful it is for reunions, small events or even a romantic getaway! Everyone loves to come stay in our charming home. My parents cared for this lovely home for 40 years & left it to me.

Laura and John Fairless purchased this house in 1963

Why Laura and John Fairless chose Seaside

Our parents moved here in 1963 to work for a logging company. They found it a wonderful place to raise their family. Our mother spent lots of time in Seaside as a youth. Her dad, Reggie bought some 'beach cabins' near the Salt Works, in about 1955 so his family could enjoy the beach more often. When my parents moved here we needed more than a cabin and they discovered this lovely home. As I explore our area & see the houses I'm reminded of my mothers exclamations about 'all the cute little houses'. This is certainly one of them. Come see for yourself.

What makes this house unique

In just a few short minutes you can be on the spacious Seaside beach. It's a lovely place for soliloquy or socialization! There's no better place to walk, ride your bike or people watch than the 'Prom' in Seaside and every evening many people come out to view the sunset. The beach has plenty of logs & driftwood to make a bonfire & roast hot dogs. Many people enjoy clamming & crabbing. The charm of the house itself is intriguing & comfortable. Curl up on the sun porch for an cozy afternoon nap. Our house was build in 1920.

If you're going to have a large gathering or reunion, there are several other vacation rentals nearby, which if coordinated far enough in advance, could all be rented simultaneously so your group could be close together but not under the same roof. Let me know your needs & I can see if the others are available as well.

Wonderful old house!

  • 5 of 5

I and my two sons and their wives and children stayed in Grandma's Beach House in September. We really enjoyed the ambiance of the house and the antique touches such as the old ceiling lights, etc. We felt like we were home and our stay was so relaxing! We even found some toys in a chest in the living room that my 6-year-old granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed. We brought my daughter-in-law's two small dogs and they felt completely at home too! We were so close to the beach and boardwalk that there was virtually no need to get in the car again until we left. Our one regret was that our stay was too short. We'll be coming back here again soon.

Great old beachy beach place, close to downtown and a block from the beach.

  • 4 of 5

The house layout was a little funky but it worked great for our extended family group. I thought that only one shower might be a problem but it worked out just fine. A big bonus feature for us is that we were able to have 2 dogs there from different part of the family, and they played the whole time!

Thank you again for providing a memorable Seaside experience. Everything about the house was great as expected (except the water pressure, small gripe). We will be booking next year's vacation soon!

4th of July family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous time in the house. It fit my family nicely. We also had the rest of our family across the street. The kids spent time in both houses. We loved it. We hope to get it again next year.
