My family and I loved it and we can’t wait to go back. There was so much room in the house everything was very clean when we arrive. The lake was amazing We really enjoyed tubing and fishing the boat dock had light so we were able to do some night fishing as well
Two stars only for comfy beds, master bath, and lake view
Reservation for Thanksgiving (Nov. 23-25) was made on Aug. 24 for 8 people. There was only one review and no renters weeks before we arrived. Karla called us Nov. 21 to let us know that the TV was not working in the downstairs living room (which seats more than 8). She was correct, and the DVD player did not work well either. Picture was only black-and-white. Seating in the upstairs living room was limited to accommodate about 4 people so that ruined all of us sitting together to watch TV. The worst problem with the house was the kitchen stove. We planned to prepare meals there but only 1 of the 4 burners worked and the oven walls were filthy with burned on grease. After we arrived, I called to tell her about the oven and she offered to refund a portion of our cleaning fee. At the time, I didn't realized that the only burner working was the small one on the front right side (which sits at an angle). So Thanksgiving food had to be prepared dish by dish in the microwave which was very disappointing. The only instructions for the house were several handwritten notes on the refrigerator. One note said that pulling out the handle for the tub in the upstairs hall bathroom would cause a leak in the ceiling below. It didn't mention that the tub drained slowly resulting in several inches of standing water. We had to buy toilet paper, trash bags, and paper towels on the second day because there were only 3 rolls of T.P. and one roll of paper towels and one trash bag supplied . The kitchen ceiling fan lights worked but not the fan. The chair seats on the balcony were falling apart. No outside lighting at the entrance gates or at the dock. A pool table in the upstairs living room was against the wall, and could not have been played even if it was moved to the center of the room because it would have butted against the chairs. Some safety issues - The only smoke detectors we saw were four still in their boxes. The steep steps leading to the front door had no handrails and there was no railing surrounding the porch.
We had a great time at Karla's lake house, playing on the lake and just taking time to relax for a few days. The sunsets were quite breath taking and we took some great pics. Our boys and there friends had a great time tubing and wakeboarding. The home is very quaint and blends into its surroundings with plenty of shade trees, unlike the development to the north in which it looks like all the trees were just bulldozed and huge out of place homes placed in their stead. My only suggestion would be that Karla place some sort of information/direction guide in the home which details her homes idiosyncriesies i.e. how to get power to the dock, operating dvd player, checkout procedures, etc. but she was very good at returning texts whenever I had a question.
I'm so glad you enjoyed our home. Thank you for your feedback. An information notebook is now in progress!
Most sincerely ,
