Beautiful Updated Montauk Condo on the bluffs overlooking the ocean! A private path leads down to an unspoiled stretch of white sand beach. Montauk Downs, one of the best Public Golf courses in the USA, is only a 5 minute drive away. Off season brings you in touch with nature with empty beaches and quiet vistas. Enjoy your morning coffee and your private deck overlooking the ocean then end your day with a glass of wine with a fire burning in your private fireplace. Only 100 miles from NYC but truly a world away.

Clean and comfortable.
It rained for most of the 4 day weekend getaway but we were able to walk the beaches during rain breaks, visit with friends and have some delicious seafood. On getaway day I called the owner for key instructions and he told me that since the place was not rented beyond that point and the weather had been so bad that we were welcome to stay another day or so to make up for it. Although we were unable to take him up on his offer, the gesture was very much appreciated. Good man!
LOVE this place!
My husband and I love the laid-back vibe that off-season Montauk affords, and this condo was the icing on the cake. Whether we were relaxing by the fireplace with some wine after a brisk walk on the beach accross the street, or sitting on the deck at dusk watching a doe and her babies wander about, we had a great time. Note--it's a little over a half mile to town, so bring walking shoes and put the local taxi on speed dial if you are carless Manhattanites like we are!
All about the location
I would say the descriptor of this rental is not quite accurate. The condo itself though relatively clean, hasn't been updated since probably the 80's and desperately needs it. There is a view of the ocean from the deck but the unit is on the first floor so it is a bit obstructed. But overall, the location was the perfect distance to town and the beach easily accessible (and not crowded). The property was also well kept and very quiet.
"Middling " Montauk
Although the location is great, the condo itself had not been updated in many yrs. Stove was not clean, sink clogged, carpet stained, decks unswept, chairs soiled. We had to buy our own cleaning supplies and were told the unit had been cleaned before our arrival. We did call the owner for maintenance of a dripping facet which he responded to but did not fix adequatedly. The owner offered a reduction in price, and assured us we would have it by our return home. We r still awaiting the check!
Fantastic location; absolutely wonderful!
The condo is right across the street from a quiet, gorgeous beach -- and two doors away from a great restaurant (The Surfside) ... so you definitely can't beat the location! Plus it's very comfortable -- the separate bedroom is great if one person wants to sleep in and the other doesn't; the couch is one of those comfy "sink into it" kinds, and the kitchen has everything you'd need. We absolutely loved staying here -- and are already thinking about rebooking for next year!
Good Family Place
The condo was great for our family (2 school-age kids and two adults), with a nicely-appointed kitchen, small dining area and large couch in the front room. The couch pulled out to a sleeper, which was fine for the kids. The bed in the bedroom was very comfortable, firm but a nice soft pillow-top. Overall, the condo is in good condition -- a typical no-frills beach place where you aren't too worried if you get it a little sandy. A little updating and more attention to amenities (some beach towels would have been great) could turn it into an even nicer place.
The pool wasn't open during our stay, unfortunately, but the grounds were nicely maintained (actually, they were being readied for season during our stay). The resident "manager" was nice, but not particularly helpful with the few concerns/requests we had. They were relatively minor, so we didn't complain to the owner (our stay was only three nights so we figured it wouldn't be something he could help us with from afar -- dripping shower, needed washcloths, extra towels, etc.). The manager did begrudgingly help us when we couldn't get the tv to work.
The kids appreciated the boogie boards we found in the bedroom closet. The beach is a very short walk away and gorgeous! The owner, John, gave us several recommendations for dinner and was very easy to work with. We would come back to this condo for future visits.
Come spend a memorable time in our condo on the bluffs overlooking the ocean. The condo has been totally updated in April 2014. Montauk on the eastern tip of Long Island is a beautiful year round gem. Famous for its world class salt water fishing, scenic beaches and some of the best surfing spots on the east coast, it is also so much more. It is home to 6 state parks, a renowned public golf course, the first cattle ranch in the USA and of course the Montauk Lighthouse. In summer it has become the in spot of the Hamptons, while winter brings a place for quiet reflection with nature everywhere.
