Vacation Home in the Northwoods of Wisconsin

Sleeps15
Bedrooms 3
Bathrooms2
Property type house

Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-9)

Whether you to like to snowshoe in the deep snow of winter or look for wild flowers in the spring, there is a Place In The Pines for you all the seasons of the year.

This is a great family vacation area with numerous activities to suit all. A family favorite is tubing down the Eau Claire River. We drop off about a mile up the road at the dam and in about an hour and a half float right up to the shore of our property. Canoeing and kayaking is fun as well, 1 canoe and 2 kayaks provided. If you are adventurous, the Brule River is only a half hour away, where you can rent a canoe or kayak and meet the challenge of the 5 star rapids.

The back porch is a great place to relax and watch the hummingbirds fight over the feeder or maybe see some deer stroll across the back yard at dusk and dawn. A black bear has been spotted a few times in the area. In the early morning before everyone is up, a bike ride to the golf course just up the road a mile is amazing - so quiet and serene and thrilling to see the herds of deer grazing and hear the birds chirping.

I invite you to enjoy a mini-vacation at Place in the Pines, where your family and friends can enjoy a peaceful time away or for the more adventurous ones to explore the many activities in the area.

About Patti Brown

Love my family of 4 kids and 4 grand kids and trying to get all together at one time is like herding cats! I cherish the times we can all be together and especially at the cabin. I wear many hats, mayor of New Trier, business administrator of 2 churches and volleyball at the Y with long time friends for the past 30+ year. I enjoy spending time with 2 close friends John and my Boston Terrior Gordy. Traveling to LA and Chicago to visit daughters, Lanesboro to my son's family and nearby Rosemont to the youngest son's home keep me in touch with them. Social media is good, but just not the same as in person. I grew up on a farm with 8 brothers and 1 sister in Viola, MN so family was instilled in us as was our Catholic faith. Grateful for all God has given me!

Patti Brown purchased this house in 1999

Why Patti Brown chose Northwest

Cabin Fever brought me to this beautiful place in 1999. I had always dreamed of owning a cabin in northern Minnesota or Wisconsin. Then, came across a ‘for sale’ ad in the Sunday paper for parcels of land with a 40 year old Red Pines plantation on the crystal clear water of the Eau Claire River in northern Wisconsin. Within 2 weeks, it was mine and it wasn’t long before I was searching for house plans. Two years later I built my “northwoods vacation home,” with the help of the contractor, friends and family. My 4 children have made many memories here and now look forward to doing the same with the 4 grandchildren.

What makes this house unique

The area is so versatile for everyone of all ages. You can enjoy the quiet and serenity of nature, fishing, golfing or nature walks. Shopping isn't far away - the local boutiques or the shops of Hayward, Duluth or Superior - all within an hour. Snowmobiling, cross country skiing, ATV trails are also popular. The cabin is big enough for family reunions, family get-togethers, scrapbooking groups or maybe a quilting weekend get-a-way!

Everything you would need to feel at home.

  • 5 of 5

It was more than I thought it would be. The river was so nice. Tubing down the river was so relaxing. It's shallow enough to not have to worry if a kid fell in. All the amenities that came with the house kept the kids so busy. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the cooking essentials. It was just what we were looking for. Thank you Patti for sharing your house with us. We made some great memories. Chelsea and Scott

Heavenly Honeymoon Haven!!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and our 2 furry kids spent 36 glorious hours at this awesome getaway location on our Honeymoon in November 2014. Patti was so kind and courteous even though we were booking last minute right after a large group of hunters had just left. The place was immaculate and more than we needed or expected!! The fireplace was very romantic and, even though we didn't have a lot of time there, it is a memory we will keep with us forever. ♡ We are planning on coming back soon and hopefully for many anniversaries to come to make new memories and reminisce about old ones! All the comforts of home are here and the pool table is an added plus for us as we Love to shoot! Thank you Patti for allowing us to stay at your beautiful vacation home! Jeff & Shari Thomas ♡

Family Gathering "....in the Pines" for our 41st Anniversary

  • 5 of 5

We had planned to do this last year in September but family issues arose. Patti very graciously put us on her calendar for this September, same time, same place. Our reunion went off without a hitch! We enjoyed each other's company but especially enjoyed introducing our grandsons to the great North Woods! They enjoyed fishing in the river, camp fire and smores at night, day trip to Duluth to see the big ships and a good time was had by all! We were a party of 6 adults and 4 small boys and the accommodations were outstanding! A major plus....we got to see the Northern Lights one night and the Fall color was just starting during our time there! It was tough to leave it all behind and return to our jobs. With Patti's help, we made memories that will last a lifetime! If you're looking for peace and solitude....if you're looking for a place far from the maddening crowd....if you have a desire to re-connect with the great North Woods, then this is the place for you and yours! Maybe it's time you took the advice of Robert Frost. In 1916 he wrote, "....Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less-traveled by....And that has made all the difference." As for me and mine, the less-traveled road to Patti's "Place In The Pines" was a great choice for us! Give her a call and check it out for yourself. You'll be glad you did!

Christmas in the Pines...

  • 5 of 5

By far and away the best Christmas in many years. A gorgeous home, with so many amenities. We all enjoyed playing pool, ping pong (big doubles tourney), darts, games, and we also had a slide show of old family photos. We even made Ukrainian eggs (Pysanky) in the spacious kitchen/dining area. Every day, I hiked the river in solitude and took incredible winter scene photos. Patti is awesome to work with and very accommodating. Thank you for our slice of respite.

Wonderful cabin, delightful, as good as or better than advertised

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I had a guys weekend and found ample beds, very comfortable accommodations and overall a very comfortable and nice cabin to enjoy. The owner was very prompt and courteous in communication and had the place very well taken care of and stocked. The condition and comfort of the place exceeded our expectations and we thought it was even better than the pictures show. Very nice.
