About Melissa Levis
The Levis family has owned the Wilburton Inn since 1987. We are a creative family that loves working together and welcoming travelers to discover our magical estate. Because we are a close family, we especially love welcoming multi generational family reunions. Patriarch Albert is a psychiatrist from Athens, Greece. He is the founder of Moral Science, the curator of The Museum of the Creative Process, and a pioneer in Conflict Resolution and the integration of the humanities and the sciences. Innkeeper Georgette Levis, was the sister of Lazard CEO Bruce Wasserstein and beloved Broadway playwright Wendy Wasserstein. Guests are always surprised to see the huge Sisters Rosensweig poster in the inn’s living room. Georgette's family nick-name was Gorgeous and she inspired Madeleine Kahn's Tony award winning role in the Broadway hit. The 4 Levis children include Tajlei: an Andover, Columbia, and NYU law school grad who lives on the Upper West Side of NYC and is writing the Broadway bound musical adaptation of the TV show, Green Acres. Melissa: a Middlesex School, Brown University and NYU award-winning songwriter who entertained thousands of NYC preschoolers with her band Moey’s Music Party. Melissa is delighted to be the new Maria Von Trapp and Vermont singing innkeeper. Oliver: a Cornell grad (where he met his wife Bonnie) and together founded Earth Sky Time Community Farm and Bakery, a thriving organic farm based from our childhood home, 3 miles from the inn. Their breads are a delicious part of the Wilburton inn breakfast and their organic farm night dinners every Wednesday in summer are not to be missed! Max: a Columbia, Harvard Divinity School and soon to be Boston University PhD. Max is the intellectual of the bunch and could have been a wonderful rabbi but instead chose to be a scholar and innkeeper. Max collaborates with Albert to pioneer an on-line program of emotional education and self-knowledge. The 3rd Generation includes 7 grandchildren!

Why Melissa Levis chose Manchester Center
This is an exceptional historic mansion with handsome archetecture and sweeping mountain views. It's a turn of the century robber baron mansion. Your guests will be so impressed with you for finding this spectacular home! And you should take the bridal suite in room 3 for all your hard work organizing the vacation!
What makes this Bed And Breakfast unique
The Wilburton was built in 1902 by Albert Gilbert on a 1200 acre estate. He was a good friend of Robert Todd Lincoln, who also built his summer cottage next door on a 400 acre estate called Hildene. The Wilburton commands superb panoramic views and two historic mansions, one on the hill and the other in the farm below, which was known as the Old English Inn and is now renamed as the Battenkill Valley Mansion. Tour our outdoor sculpture trains that show the history of love and the evolving images of women through cross cultural myths. Visit our son's Earth Sky Time organic farm and bakery less than 3 miles from the house.

Words do not do it justice
It is sincerely difficult to put into words the beautiful weekend we just enjoyed at the Wilburton Inn . We were a family of 23, of all ages, celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary. Let me just say that from the very first contact until the culmination of the weekend everyone at the Inn was more than helpful and caring and helped make the process seamless. We could not have asked for any better. The Inn itself is something to be enjoyed and savored...but, for us, the absolute best part of the weekend was the people. Everyone, from Albert (the owner of the Inn), Melissa (Alberts daughter and the Innkeeper), to Michele and Christopher (just two of the staff) was so attentive to detail and always ready to help no matter what. They truly treated us like family. All of our group said they felt so comfortable and relaxed (which is not always the case). The Inn is spectacular, the rooms are beautiful and so clean and comfortable. The views are exceptional, the food was some of the best we have ever eaten. The sculptural Museum of the Creative Process on the grounds is not to be missed, and, of course, there is shopping etc. in Manchester itself. I do believe that everyone took something good and uplifting back home with them. Also, we all hesitated and did not want to leave...that definitely says something about where you are. Might I say that it was a bit magical. If you ever have a chance to stay at the Inn with the Levis family...do not hesitate...jump right in...because they WILL make it special. We hope to go back again in the future. Alan and Chris and their whole family send hugs and our best to the Levis family and staff at the Inn
Exceptional Elegance in Manchester Vermont
We stayed at the Wilburton Inn (Wilburton Mansion and Maxwell House) for a corporate retreat this past weekend. Our hosts, Melissa, Alan and all of their staff, were extremely accommodating, considerate and helped to ensure every detail was attended to. The old world charm of the mansion creates a unique ambiance that adds an elegant touch to the stay. The chef, Gary, prepared wonderful breakfasts and dinner during our stay and the grounds offered lots of space to walk, enjoy, and explore. We highly recommend a stay here! Whether you are a couple looking for a romantic getaway, a family looking to get out of the city or a large group, the Wilburton is the perfect place to make memories you will never forget.
Amazing in every way!
You don't just stay at the Wilberton, you experience it! Our accomodations in the Equinox Views Villa were outstanding, the room was spacious, well appointed, incredibly comfortable and with gorgeous views from every window. The Inn-keepers are so warm and welcoming, they made our visit truly special. Breakfast was a culinary masterpiece, from the homemade breads and preserves, to the quiche, pancakes, fresh fruit and oh the lemon coffee cake...if I didn't live 3 hours away I would be there every morning! I most highly recommend the Wilburton and look forward to returning again soon.
Seven of my coworkers and I had the pleasure (and luck) of staying at the Wilburton while in Manchester on business. It was the perfect place with spacious, clean rooms, all amenities and a great open kitchen/dining area. We were able to work together and have our privacy. Highly recommended. We attended the weekly Wednesday night dinner party at the main house, what a wonderful collection of interesting people combined with delicious food and live music. All set against the gorgeous grounds and starry night. Melissa and her family are the ultimate hosts.
We had a group of 10 staffers at the Wilburton Inn August 4-7. We had the most fantastic stay. Our six bedroom, 6.5 bath house was perfect - clean, comfortable with stunning views. The grounds of the Inn are spectacular and unique - with a real story. The hospitality is truly amazing ... something you'd only find at a well run, family owned Inn. Thanks to Melissa and the entire Levis family for making us feel so welcome.
Wonderful experience! We hosted a family reunion of about 40 people and the Wilburton was perfect -- great location, beautiful accommodations, and a very helpful staff. We could not have been happier.
