Good for winter but definitely not for summer

  • 2 of 5

I've stayed in multiple apartments in Tahoya just in the last 16/17 season. We put in 20-30 days a season. This is slightly more expensive than these older units.

The good aspects of this apartment are a renovated bathroom and renovated kitchen.

The biggest negative for me was the fact that there is no air con in the unit and this is not specified in the listing. I had my seven year old daughter with me and she was sweating the entire time we were in there. Tahoe average summer temperatures in the day are in the 80s. It was 90 the days we were there. As you can imagine after a long day of vigorous outdoor activity the last thing you want to do is come into a humid, hot apartment to sweat after a shower. The back door has a screen but wasn't enough to get air moving so we had to open the front door which brought in a bunch of bugs. We had to sleep with the bugs in the hot air each night....wish we could have just gone camping instead.

Granted we come to Tahoe to be outside and we really were until 930 each night. I'm sure it would be fine for a winter stay.

Other more minor annoyances were the totally blocked shower drain that created a foot bath and the fact that I needed to print and sign a physical document for the rental.

Owner's Response: Clearly our guest did not have a good stay at our condo and we are sorry for that. We take our guest's comfort and feedback seriously. This was a very unusual situation and we had already worked with our guest and credited back half of the rental with our apology. Our guest indicated that she was satisfied with our actions. We do want to clarify the specific concerns our guest noted in her review: Our condo does not have air conditioning (AC) and our listing does not say that we have AC. To avoid confusion, we have updated our listing to be specific that we do not. The average high in Tahoe Vista in July is 77 and the average low is 45. Even during the hottest days, the low is in the 50's. Our unit with a screened sliding door and ceiling fan is generally very comfortable at night. There was a clog in the shower drain that we had that fixed after our guest left. Our guest indicated that this was not an emergency and we did not want to interrupt her stay to schedule the repair. We do require a scanned copy of a signed contract for each stay. We have found this helps us and our guests understand the specifics for their stay (check in time/check out time/ parking pass/ pool regulations/etc.) when payments are due and when to expect the return of their deposit. Our history has been very satisfied guests and we have many guests that return every year and rent from us. We are sorry for the confusion on this stay.

Great for small family, nice outdoor jacuzzi.

  • 4 of 5

Great for small family, 2 adults with 1 child or 1 adult and 2 children. Tight space but very comfortable. Very nicely appointed and remodeled. We stayed in winter, February, the outdoor jacuzzi was great. The on-site manager not as helpful as expected.

Great Location, New Kitchen

  • 4 of 5

This studio is idyllic. The space is small but really all my boyfriend and I needed as a place to crash after a day on the slopes. The home is very clean and modern with a newly renovated kitchen stocked with all the things you'd need (pots, pans, cups, etc) and the landlords were pleasant and easy to work with.

Practically on the water and having access to a hot tub made this even more lovely. Taking away a star only for the fact that the bed made sleeping comfortably a little challenging. The sides of our bodies kept falling asleep because it was so hard. Regardless, we would stay here again!
