Nice but could be so much better
Charlie and Terry are the nicest people. As we walked up to the front door, they had a sign in the window congratulating us for our anniversary, and a bottle of champagne inside. Very thoughtful.
They were out back on our arrival and showed us around the property.
Breakfast every morning under the hut on the dock was amazing. Watching the iguanas run around was cool to see.
Of course, the view is incredible and the kayaks on site were awesome to use.
Upon first glance the condo is fantastic.
However, every day, for the first 4 days we were there, we found a cockroach, a couple were dead, a couple were alive, one running down the wall in the kitchen. When this was brought up, Charlie and Terry both responded quickly and asked for our patience as these bugs are considered a perpetual problem in the Keys. They did have an exterminator come out right away and spray.
If you look too close at anything though, you see the care and maintenance just has not been kept up.
Just happened to drop something on the floor by the couch. Underneath was filthy. Dustbunnies and sand.
Some fixtures were rusted.
The toilet paper holder was pitted and rusting.
The mirror in the bathroom was supported by a cup wedged between the mirror and the wall. Take the cup out, mirror angles down really far.
Couldn't use the bin in the freezer for extra ice due to the yellow gunk in it. Outside of fridge was just dirty. Top had a layer of dust and the rest looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time.
The dock out back is nice but the only way in or out of the water is a set of mossy, rock steps.
A ladder attached to the wooden dock, like every other property around there, would be a good addition. Also, some shade by umbrella for the sand portion of the property would be welcome as well.
I really wish I could give the place 5 stars but I just can't. It has so much potential but doesn't live up to it.
Mr. and Mrs. Gomes, We had a wonderful week! My husband and son enjoyed the use of the kayaks and the dock for fishing. They caught 5 hammerhead sharks, sting rays and many other fish. We snorkeled as soon as we got there even though we had just driven over 1000 miles. The sunsets are amazing. The accommodation were marvelous! We are looking forward to coming back! EXCELLENT!! Sincerely, The Millers
Gorgeous property with abundant sea life steps from door!
The outside property alone was worth the price. We saw moray eels, lots of iguanas daily, every type of fish you could imagine, and lobsters. The fishing right of the dock gave us two limits of mangrove snapper and 3 small sharks (released) snorkling is amazing right on site, fish cleaning station was super convienent. Inside was good, plenty of room and patio was great. Will absolutely be the place we stay next time we are down this way. One thing to remember that is if you have small children you will have to be outside with them, there is nothing to keep them from falling in water anywhere. Which is what we expected to have to do. There are steps going into water which is nice, and 3 kayaks if you want to paddle out.
Nice place, pretty clean, good price! Upon arrival we were able to talk with the cleaning staff, she was a huge help to give us directions. Also the owners were very helpful to share their knowledge of the area and ‘must dos’ ... any questions, just ask! Loved the area, Lorelei was our fav restaurant. Enjoyed Kayaks and feeding fish off dock. Wish the beach had been so one could stick their feet in water and the trash that comes up and gets caught in the dock area is sad. The wind and weather blows it up and then when wind changes, it pulls it back out. Kinda sad to see the trash go back out to the beautiful bay. Robbies has boat rentals, a must while you are there! So many pretty things to see... We loved our visit.
This was our first time to Islamorada. We stayed in the Garden Villa with 4 people (mom/dad, teenage son, grandma). The villa and property were just as pictured and everything was very clean. The generous room sizes enabled us to set up a queen bed in the living room and a twin bed in the kitchen area; allowing everyone to have their own space. The kitchen was nicely stocked with everything we needed to be comfortable. The beach area was a favorite to relax during our downtime and enjoy an absolutely beautiful view. We all enjoyed watching the fish that hung out near the pier Sue's Promise was a great location as it allowed us to do all the activities we wanted without having to do a ton of driving.
Everything just as promised . . . and so much more
The property and amenities were far than we could have expected or imagined. Every need was covered, the villa was immaculate and so well furnished and appointed. So happy with our private, non commercial beach and cabana. Charlie, Terri, Barbie and Ken were so friendly and accommodating, with great travel and dining suggestions. The 10 days were perfect. If we can muster the 45 round trip driving hours, we will definitely return. Can not say enough positives to cover everything, but suffice to say we would highly recommend this property. Thanks so much to the Gomes' for a fabulous vacation.
