About George Heiligman

Bud, a native Hawaiian, grew up in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. I have lived in Oregon for more than thirty years, but return to Hawaii to visit family and friends as often as I can.

We have owned the condos at Valley Isle Resort since 1990, and we have had the Punaluu cottage in our family since the 1970's. We are pleased to share these beautiful beach front units with you. We hope that you enjoy your stay on the magical islands of Maui and Oahu.

George Heiligman purchased this cottage in 1975

Sweetheart of a cottage right on the water

  • 5 of 5

This is a throwback in time to the 60s...just like the Old Hawaii or staying at your grandparents cabin. The beds are super comfortable and the waves and ocean breeze make sleeping and relaxing a dream. Great swimming and snorkeling right outside your window as the area is protected by a coral reef. But bring or invest in swim shoes. There are boogie boards and snorkeling gear in the cabin to use. Can’t say enough good things about the place. There is a person on sight that rents out paddle boards and kayaks for $30 per day. Just go to the security guard and ask for Jays contact info. You can’t go wrong renting here.

Mahalo for this gem!

We just returned last week from staying at this rental, and it was everything I could have wanted. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city and Waikiki, you have what essentially is a private beach and George makes sure to have amenities included in the property to help you enjoy your stay, such as beach chairs and towels and snorkelling equipment. Even little things such as soap and paper products are there when you arrive. The place was wonderfully clean and we had no problems. The view is outstanding and I would recommend watching the sunrise every morning like we did. It is very peaceful getting to fall asleep each night to the sound of the surf. There is a reef on this area of the island that keeps the bigger waves at bay and makes it a wonderful spot for swimming, snorkelling, and even relaxing. Close to North Shore and delicious food trucks. We decided only a few days into our stay that (when!) we come to Hawaii again, we are going to stay in this exact place. Free parking and a strong internet connection are also nice amenities. We couldn't get the TV to turn on, but didn't miss it at all. Mahalo George for sharing your property with us and making my dreams of paradise come true!

We are just back from a fantastic stay on Oahu, including 4 days here. We loved the view, the sounds of the waves and palm trees, the steady breezes, being steps from the beach (saw a turtle close to shore, a moray eel, and small fish when we went out a good ways snorkeling), and the proximity to the Pupukea and Haleiwa. We hated to leave! Made good use of the kitchen for eating in and packing picnics; it's great to have a stove, not just a microwave like many places. Didn't use the outdoor shared grills but saw others enjoying them. Would happily return and strongly recommend!

Wonderful Place to Stay!!!!

  • 5 of 5

My aunt and I just returned from our visit to Oahu. We spent a week in this cottage. It was great. The first thing I want to say is that the pictures are absolutely representative of the cottage and the view from the windows. I slept in the bed by all the windows and loved listening to the ocean. Pat's at Punalu'u is a very quiet place and it was nice to come back to the cottage after fighting traffic in Honolulu or the North Shore and just walk on the quiet beach. I would come and stay at this cottage again if I am ever in Oahu.

It is more like a condo than a cottage.

  • 5 of 5

We spent our honeymoon in this condo and it was amazing! It is out of the main tourist area of Oahu and is definitely a bit of paradise! It was an opportunity to spend time away from all the busyness of daily life. It was definitely worth the money and was a very good price for the island. We were able to snorkel, swim in waterfalls, soak in some sun and just get away from it all! Trip of a lifetime! Only advice I would give is the long purplish blue things floating in the ocean at times are jellyfish and are small but quite painful - found out the hard way!! Thanks George for such a wonderful place to spend in paradise!!
