Our 5 STAR renter reviews say it all! This spectacular 5000 sq ft, 6 BR, 5 1/2 bath, home is located at the top of the prestigious Hound Ears Country Club gated community. The amazing long range views go all the way to Tennessee and West Virginia, and change with the weather and the seasons. Designed by a prominent architect in the Frank Lloyd Wright vernacular, it is a unique home like no other in North Carolina.
The house can sleep 12 and features 6 Bedrooms. The Master and the 'Zen' bedroom each have King sized beds. The 'kid's' room has two twin beds and the other 3 bedrooms have Queen sized Beds. There are also 2 Queen size pull out couches, one in the living room and one in the downstairs

The dining room seats 8 and there is a table for four in the breakfast area for a total seating of 12. There is also a guest bedroom on this floor with a full bath/powder room with double sink.
The huge Master Suite is in it's own seperate wing connected by an enclosed sky bridge to the main house which provides maximum privacy. It is on 3 levels. The upper level features a huge Master Bedroom with king sized bed, a gas fireplace and a 42' LED HD TV with DVD player. It also has a convenient half bath, a seperate seating area, and a home office on this level . The center level has seperate His and Her's full baths ,and dressing room. Perfect for keeping younger children close to their parents. NOTE! This is the 6th bedroom in the house, but it is accessed only through the main Master Bedroom so it is great for keeping your own kids close by but infringes on your privacy in the Master Bedroom if other adults use it.
The lower level of the main house features a large guest 'Zen' bedroom, a full bath, and a seperate bedroom with 2 twin beds. In addition, the additional 'Jetson' suite has a private bedroom with it's own bath and entry.
There is a family/play room with a queen pull out couch, 42' LED HD TV, DVD player, Play Station 2, Wii game, and a stereo.
There is also an enclosed laundry room with full sized washer and dryer.
The house was completely renovated when we bought it. It included new furniture, new wood floors, and new flat screen HD TV's with dvd players in the LR, Playroom and all bedrooms. The kitchen utensils and accessories are all new. There are dishes and silverware for 14 guests. The linens and towels are top of the line. Everything has been done at an 'Owner' quality level, not as a rental.
As you can see by our rave 5 star reviews, for the last 5 years, everyone who has stayed here has had a great time and given us a 5 star rating. We hope you'll come too.
Share your stay with friends or family, with 6 bedrooms there's plenty of room and you'll have a million dollar house for the price of a Motel 8!
The North Carolina mountains are prone to snow and icy conditions during the winter months. The house is at an elevation of 3400 feet. A 4 WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE AND/OR CHAINS ARE REQUIRED DURING THE WINTER MONTHS. THE HOUND EAR'S ROADS AND THE DRIVEWAY ARE TOO STEEP AND SLIPPERY FOR 2 WHEEL DRIVE DURING HEAVY SNOW AND ICE STORMS.

We bought this home even though we were not really ready to buy. It was that spectacular! We're from Miami and getting away from the heat and humidity is in the summer is a must. I've been vacationing in the area all my life and wanted to get something that we could spend a lot of time in someday. This house is it. We refurbished/redecorated the entire house. This was done with top of the line furniture and accessories for our use, not cheaply done as a rental property.I know you'll enjoy this house as much as we do.
Owner purchased this House in 2010

Lovely Stay in Hound Ears
This home is beautiful and accommodated five couples perfectly. Kudos to the owner for the detailed instruction book, which comes in handy when trying to figure out the heating and cooling systems of the house. The house is not fully centrally air conditioned, but there are portable units for the areas that are not; and, typically, you don't need ac in the mountains but we encountered an unusual warm spell. The house stayed very comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped and the views are breathtaking. We would stay there again.
House with gorgeous views
Very spacious home, well equipped with video games for the kids, lots of cleaning supplies, linens, table cloths, etc. Lots of cute spots for pictures besides the amazing views. We went in February and were blessed with amazing weather but like the suggestions say, in the winter you might need a 4whl drive as it's very high up in the neighborhood. Overall very nice, welcoming and we will be back!
Thanks for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed yourselves and we look forward to seeing you again.
Great property, beautiful view! Owners were very accommodating.
Thanks for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed your stay, hope to see you again.

Wonderful getaway location!
Our group of 10 enjoyed a lovely stay at this Hound Ears home. It has plenty of room for a large group. The kitchen Has plenty of utensils, dishes, etc. The linens are nice. The view is spectacular. The house sits at the top of the mountain, and you feel like you are on top of the world. The home is very convenient to Boone, Blowing Rock, And Banner Elk. We would definitely recommend this for a restful getaway and for a fun reunion with family or friends.
Thanks for the kind words, we hope to see back again soon.
Perfect Mountain Getaway
This property was perfect for 4 couples and 4 tween children during Fall Break. The views are perfect. The house has an interesting layout which added to the enjoyment of the vacation. Much of the house has been updated, and the master suite was especially comfortable. The kitchen, while well-equipped, could use some updates and is laid out in such a way as not to accommodate several people who want to prep/cook at the same time. Given how many excellent restaurants are in the area, the kitchen ended up not being much of an issue for us. I highly recommend this property. The mountain views are simply spectacular.
As Beautiful as Advertised
Twelve of our family (including three children ages 10-16) met here in July for a reunion, and this beautiful, quiet spot was an excellent choice for us. The rooms were situated in a way that gave privacy to each family group. We made good use of the well-equipped kitchen and dining rooms; they suited us very well. The owners obviously respect their home and take pride in it. Communication with the owner was prompt and clear. We visited the Grandfather Scottish Games and hiked on the trails off the Blue Ridge Parkway, and we recommend this home highly for families who don't care about the built-in amenities of a resort.
Thank for the kind words. We're really glad you had a good time. The house is made for families and I'm glad you're considering coming back. We look forward to seeing you and your family again.
Zip lining, the newest craze is available within 15 minutes of the home. We're close to both major ski mountains, Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain,a and to family friendly Appalaction ski mountain . Snow Tubing Parks are available nearby. Also , the world famous 'Tweetsie Railroad' amusement park is only 15 minutes away! Your kids will LOVE it.
