Free Skiing at Whiteface Mt. in the Winter.

A Fly Fisherman's & Hikers Dream in the Spring, Summer & Fall.

This charming log cabin is located in the High Peaks of the Adirondack Park on the West Branch of the Au Sable River in the Town of Jay. Sugar Mt. Cabin is secluded and surrounded by woods on a three-acre lot. Sleep well at night listening to the rapids of the river and the crackling of the woodstove. This rustic cabin is only 20 minutes from Whiteface Mountain and 25 minutes to Lake Placid. The cabin has a bedroom with a queen-size bed. There is also a large loft with a double bed as well as two single beds. It sleeps six comfortably. There are two full bathrooms, one with a two-person Jacuzzi. The living room features a wood-burning stove with plenty of dry firewood stacked outside. The kitchen has all the necessary appliances and utensils including a dishwasher and coffeemaker. Pets are welcome.

A covered porch runs along the front of the cabin. A picnic table and grill are located in the spacious secluded yard. There are woods in the back, which overlook the famous Au Sable River. Enjoy private river access to numerous paths and trails with Adirondack chairs and benches located to offer spectacular views of the river and Wilmington Mountain Range.

Sugar Mt Cabin is a short drive to the Olympic Village of Lake Placid. Golfing, hiking trails and other recreation can be found all around the area. If it should rain one day we suggest you visit cosmopolitan Montreal, which is two hours from Sugar Mt. You will find plenty of information and maps of the area when you arrive at the cabin.

If Sugar Mt Cabin is booked, its sister cabin, Broken Arrow Lodge, may be available. These cabins are identical in every way and each is located on their own three acre wooded lot. Broken Arrow is a two minute walk to the river over a small dirt road. If both cabins are booked, it will be indicated on the calendar.

About The Owner

After visiting the Adirondacks on vacation we moved here in 2000 and built our dream home. We now enjoy golfing, hiking, biking and skiing as well as providing beautiful, secluded cabins for those visiting

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2002

Why The Owner chose Whiteface Mountain

This was our second visit to the cabin and we absolutely love this place! Whether you want to hike, use the river, ski or just relax, this place has it all. Dave & Jean are very accomodating and have a beautiful, cozy cabin.

Clean and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our short stay at Broken Arrow. The cabin was clean and well-stocked. The wood stove kept it more than warm enough and the lot was great for our dog. We took advantage of the half-price Wednesday skiing together with the complimentary passes the next day which made our vacation very affordable. The kids loved the space inside and outside the cabin. We look forward to returning.

Broken Arrow Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at Broken Arrow. Cabin was clean and well stocked. Owner stopped by to make sure everything was in order and had some helpful tips on the area. Many great hiking trails in the area, but also not too far to enjoy Lake Placid! AuSable River was beautiful. We enjoyed bringing our dog on vacation with us. We would like to return again.

Broken Arrow Lodge and Skiing at Whiteface

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Broken Arrow Lodge during the first week in January, 2012 with our daughter, her boyfriend and our dogs. Had a great time there. Very clean, private and convenient. Dave came over the first night and offered his advice and guidance. Had cold weather and great skiing at Whiteface. It was cold during the week, but the cabin was warm (and loved that electric blanket)! We hope to go back again this season or next. Highly recommend for any couple or couples looking for a beautiful spot. Summers must be great there as well, since the access to the Ausable is so easy...

Christmas and New Year's at Broken Arrow

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful vacation at the Broken Arrow lodge. It's in a lovely location, it has all the amenities you could ask for, including wireless internet but not including for cable television, which is a blessing if you ask me. The wood stove is an added treat. My husband and I had a great time, and so did our little beagle.

Sugar Mountain Cabin

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in this cabin Feb 25-28, 2010 and loved it! The cabin with it's woodstove was so comfortable and cozy. We both love to ski (since we live in Colorado) and so we took advantage of the free lift ticket offer. It's a beautiful drive to Whiteface Mountain and the mountain is really fun to ski!

We will definitely return!
