Hidden among mature trees and tropical gardens is this oasis in Sayulita: Casa Duende.
Each of the three well-appointed bedrooms at Casa Duende have their own private en-suite bathrooms. A high, decorative wall blocks the view into the Casa from passersby street side, and the walls surrounding the side and back of the house ensure that the grounds are totally private. Guests can relax on the large, ground-level patio, equipped with a stainless-steel BBQ, sink and bar/counter - plus make use of the built-in wood smoker for the fresh fish you'll get from the local fishermen.
The two upper level bedrooms have a palapa-covered living room, and overlook the gardens and neighboring trees. The doors to the kitchen and living room are completely screened and open up onto the patio for a view of the bouganvillas, banana trees, cactus plants and gardens. Casa Duende is a quick, level, 3-minute walk to the plaza and to Sayulita beach.
There are no hills to walk, making this ideally accessible for all ages. There are stores nearby for purchasing groceries or other necessities. While there is no need for a car at Casa Duende, there is street parking should you require it.
Sit outside and listen to the birds while you have your morning coffee or a dinner of fresh fish that you just smoked and BBQ'd outside.
Life doesn't get better than Casa Duende.

Great location , decorated beautifully, fully equipped kitchen, wonderful outdoor area
We loved our stay at Casa Duende! the Casa is it's own Oasis only minutes to the beach and town. There were 2 couples, one single person in our gathering and everyone had their own room and bathroom. We fixed our own meals quite a few nights and enjoyed eating in the private, great outdoor garden, kitchen area.
Our only comment is the mattress in the south upstairs bedroom could be replaced - (the couple rolled into each other)the main bedroom bed was amazing as was the other one.
Thank you - we would love to come back every year.
House is in great location very close to town square. Spacious bedrooms. Landscaping is gorgeous. Only downside is Sayulita has an overpopulation of Roosters, which is no fault of property owners. Very difficult to sleep as everything is open air. Some furniture is worn and could use upgrade. I would definitely stay here again if I return to Sayulita.
We were in Sayulita for a beautiful wedding. House was perfectly located near everything and everybody. Everything we needed was provided. Highly recommend!!
Quiet, Close to town
We stayed here for 4 nights while we were in town for a wedding. The master bedroom is downstairs and is the only room with A/C. 2 bedrooms upstairs have fans only. This was ok for us but it was the last week of January and it was cloudy every day. Not sure how nice that would be in June. The property managers were great! Very helpful in arranging transportation from the airport for our party. There a water cooler in the kitchen which was great to just fill up your bottle and go. No washer/dryer available (contrary to what is listed in the property description). Wifi worked great for us. Located an easy 5 min walk to the beach and 2 mins to the center of town.
Thanks so much for your review and staying at Casa Duende. We highly recommend anyone staying between June and September to book somewhere that has a/c in any bedroom you intend to sleep in as it gets so hot and humid. So sorry about the washer and dryer, we do make it available to anyone that requests it.
Overall the house was amazing. PROS: Everything you need for a great stay. The owner was very accommodating to our large group. Plenty of dishes and glasses and cook wear. Over head fans and an extra floor fan. The master bedroom has the ac unit and if you leave the door to the room open it will also keep the living room and kitchen area cool as well. Sitting out on the patio we saw many birds and an iguana every day. Close to town but far enough away that it's not to noisy...... except for the roosters but you can't escape them in Sayulita! It's part of the charm! CONS: The house is lower than the road, you open a gate to some stairs to go down to get to the house. There is no railing on these stairs so they can be a little dangerous, especially at night because the sensor lighting doesn't always come on right away. My 75 year old dad took a tumble over the edge half way down. Thankfully he was OK. They really need to put some sort of railing up.
Overall the house is a great place to stay and we would stay again when we return.
Thanks so much for your review. We are so happy that the location worked out for you. It is nice being so close to town but still very quiet.
I am so sorry to hear that your dad took a fall. We will definitely take a look at the railing situation and see what can be done to install one.
We look forward to having you stay at Casa Duende for a future trip to Sayulita.
