Loreto Bay is the vision of dedicated environmentalists who wished to create a sustainable community. It is modeled after European hill towns with stunning traditional adobe architecture, charming walkways to the sea, and lovely gardens.
But there's more to see, so we include our Ford Explorer: for exploring.
Our location in the community is a treasure. I think it could not be better: so quiet, yet just a few feet from our charming coffee shop, a stone's throw to the community center and the 'greengrocer', a short walk to our new wine bar.
Our casita is unique. We wanted guests to immediately recognize that they were in a special place, not a standard condo or hotel room. We chose exotic, charming, one-of-a-kind pieces as well as the finest beds and appliances. Our high quality furnishings have caused some to wonder if we were wise to rent to the public, but we have been rewarded with respect from all of our guests. The kitchen is equipped as yours might be at home. From stemware to Cuisinart cookware, you will be more than satisfied.
The upstairs/downstairs bedrooms with individual baths provide privacy for two couples. Both bedrooms have televisions. The upstairs deck has a lovely mountain view. Although the water view is quite limited, the beach is only a two minute walk away. The very good golf course is 3 minutes walk away.

I am a retired English teacher; my late husband a retired US Navy officer. We live in San Diego, but only came to love Baja when we discovered Loreto. This charming Mexican pueblo (12 minutes drive from our casita) provides very good international restaurants, a marina for sports fishing, cute shops, and an impressive malecon. The people are the warmest we have met anywhere. Our grown children were thrilled by our choice and enjoy kayaking, snorkeling, and just hanging at the pools. The fishing is fabulous, but we are not really fisherman. Instead, we rent various small boats to explore the nearby islands. They are amazing with their untouched beauty.
Susan Hill purchased this villa in 2005
We liked that the airport was a 10 minute drive from the house. We continue to be amazed by the sunsets on the mountains. As tennis players, we were impressed by the ambitious John McEnroe tennis center just a few minutes away. Although the courts are far from world class, we expect they someday will be. The attractive Inn, associated with the development, adds availability of a modest gym, restaurants, pools, tour guides and beach services. These amenities are yours to enjoy while renting our home.
Great golf course one can walk to with special rates for renters. No cars ever drive by the homes. They are parked on the street. People are always walking by, as this is a walking community.Everything is close. So you get to know your neighbors. We like that. So far from any urban intrusion, the night sky is amazing. This is the most relaxing area we have ever visited. It is a place for renewal.
Muchas gracias! Your home was perfect. We had everything we needed. It would be nice if you could provide bicycles, though, as there is so much to see on bikes. Keep it in mind.
We will be back.
The house are beautiful and comfortable. The place are amazing and very clean and relax! The owner and the manager are very kind. I will back again!!!
This was a wonderful vacation, 6 weeks of perfection. Susan is lovely to work with and very accommodating. Answers questions quickly. Location of the casita is perfect. Quiet at night. Steps from the pool and not much farther to the beach, which is fabulous. A great place to stay, do yourself a favor and book it.
The home is as described, centrally located. It is a 30 second walk to the lap pool, a minute walk to the beach, and a minute walk will take you to the Loreto Bay village amenities/shops.
The home has a wonderful, comfy master bed, and the kitchen was so well stocked with cookware, bake ware and appliances.
The opportunity to rent the SUV was a great addition, and much appreciated.
Loreto and the surrounding area offer great outdoor activities. You can hike to the top of an extinct volcano on a island, kayak to the surrounding marine park islands, snorkel around underwater cliffs, sightsee through an amazing mountain drive to an old Mission, and take long walks on the beach, meeting all the residents doggies taking their guardians for a walk!
The residents of the city of Loreto are very gracious and kind. There is a distinct small town friendliness with every one you meet.
Susan is a great hostess, and we appreciate being able to stay at her home.
As an overview: we loved it!! The house is perfect. We (a family of 3 with a seven-year-old) went running in the mountains, tested out the road biking, cooked and enjoyed great fresh produce, swam in the (heated!) pools, rented kayaks to paddle in the Sea of Cortez, made sand castles on the beach, and enjoyed drinking fruity cocktails on the rooftop patio while watching the moon and stars.... It was so quiet and peaceful, and had everything we could have asked for! Safe, beautiful, and lots of fun. Thank you, Susan!!
Susan's house is absolutely lovely, and she was very helpful on email and on the phone with the details of car rentals, etc. The house is so welll designed! There is so much great outdoor space, and while the houses are close together, there is still a real sense of privacy--but also a sense of neighborliness.
The plants in pots all over the rooftop patio are beautiful, as are the vines trailing up the bannister ! The place is cosy, comfortable and sweet. Susan has decorated and furnished the place so nicely.
The kitchen is stocked with really nice pots and pans and appliances! We love to cook, and found everything we needed. The markets in Loreto are great, and the little neighborhood Fresh Market has everything you need, less than a block away.
We enjoyed our time immensely, and plan to return next year!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your comfortable casa! It's conviently located in the middle of things - golf course, market, coffee & wine bars, hotel & sea. We enjoyed the hotel ammenties - pool, workout room, kayaks & restaurants. The hotel concierge got us involved in salsa dancing lessons, hiking & bird watching tours. We met a lot of people (homeowners, visitors, locals) during our month long stay - Loreto is an inviting place. We'll miss the endless blues of water, mountains & sky. Thank you Susan for making the arrangements so easy and for giving us recommendations on restaurants and car rentals. We will definitely return!
This home is nice and very comfortable stay. It is a home away from home. It is walking distance to the Sea of Cortez, the hotel and golf course. I would recommend staying here since the owners are very kind and good people who really appreciates beauty.
Explore uninhabited offshore islands; enjoy overnight coastal camping with experienced guides, accessible only by kayak. Fabulous snorkeling.
Acclaimed golf course in walking distance.
Excellent place to learn paddle boarding.
