House, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2.25 Baths, (Sleeps 5)
- english, spanish, a little spanish
I bought the lot in 1994, and after paying it off, began construction and completion in 2004. Originally we planned on raising our family here full time, but later, because of other circumstances, decided to move back to San Diego and finish raising my children in the USA, and retire here afterwards. Our home is truly our little piece of paradise and when we are not here, we wish we were. We hope you enjoy our home and all that the Eastcape has to offer you while on vacation.
Carol purchased this House in 2004
Why Carol chose Los Frailes
Because I wanted to get as far away from humans as possible. If you are like-minded, you're going to love this place
What makes this House unique
It's like living in a science class. It changes every hour, everyday. The tides, wind, planets, wildlife, temperatures.

Perfect Escape for a Slow Pace Vacation
We traveled to BCS for a 2 month extended stay during Jan - Mar and wanted to begin the vacation on the East Cape since the remainder of our stay was on the West Coast in the Todos Santos area. This was a perfect spot for that - and living off the grid is a term used here that you need to understand before considering this area...it's a quiet, gorgeous, untouched (sometimes you don't see anyone at all) solitude in the BEST way. We snorkeled, off shore fished, & spearfished a little out in front of the house on days when it wasn't as windy! Definitely recommend going to the grocery store and filling up on gas (if you're going to do local day trips anywhere) in town (Cabo) before heading out there since there's little to nothing around once you arrive. The owner Carol was superb in her communication, directions and getting you setup before arrival; and Wynn their property manager for the house is on-point with his orientation he gives, making sure you have anything needed at the house and more. All around good experience!
Great Baja Experience!
This property is ideal for "getting away from it all." We were looking for a place that was off the grid so we could escape from our busy world for a week and this place certainly was perfect. Everything about the rental experience with the owners was easy. Prior to our arrival we were provided clear, comprehensive instructions on what to expect on arrival in San Jose del Cabo and how to get to the house.
We felt immediately "at home" and relaxed. It was well-appointed and everything was in good working order and it was very clean and spacious. The outdoor grill certainly came in handy and was almost brand new. The property manager was great to deal with.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and at this house. The view of the sun rising over the Sea of Cortez was truly remarkable. Right from under the Ramada, while having our morning coffee, we saw numerous whales breaching, dolphins, flying fish, and stingrays, in addition to the colorful birds that were enjoying the birdbath. Our entire experience was remarkable and we highly recommend this home to anyone.
Fell in love with the house and location
And did not want to leave... This house is a gem, it is perfect. The location is excellent: secluded, unobstructed views of the sea and the beach. The house is well designed: the master bedroom faces the sea, you will be lulled asleep by the sound of the sea and woken up by the same gentle sounds (or in our case, by the kids who can't wait to take a walk and watch the sun rise - gorgeous) The house has all you need, the kitchen is well stocked, the beds are comfortable and the place is clean and well maintained. The property manager is the most helpful guy ever and will answer all your questions. There is plenty to do - there is a goat farm a few minutes away, snorkeling is a few miles away, there are wonderful beaches everywhere, or you can just sit on the patio and watch the sea. If you are looking to get away from it all, then this is the place for you! We will be back!!
Wonderful location, very relaxing
We absolutely loved our stay at this house. The location is very private, the house is excellent (clean, everything works great). The view of the full moon rising over the Sea of Cortez was truly remarkable. We saw whales breaching from the deck and oyster fishermen right out in front of the beach. We would definitely come back to this place!
Chuck & Kathy
We've done a fair bit of VRBO renting and it's rare that a rental exceeds our expectations, but this absolutely did! We loved the accommodations - it was clean, had everything we needed and was super comfortable. The view is breathtaking! There are miles of empty beach to walk and it's a short drive to the best snorkeling beaches. We watched whales from the awesome covered patio and were treated to the full moon rising over the Sea - AMAZING! It was quiet and so easy to unwind from everyday life - we didn't want to leave! Loved our time there and would go back in a heartbeat!
Simply the Best
We have rented this lovely house twice and look forward to our next stay. Totally recommended for those who seek a quiet spot to enjoy the ocean and all that the East Cape has to offer. The ramada covered patio is perfect for morning coffee while watching rays jump and boats passing and we have enjoyed being visited by hummingbirds and cardinals as well. The roof is perfect for spectacular sunrises and sunsets not to mention moonrises if you are lucky enough to be there during a full moon. The house is immaculate and everything works; has a full size refrigerator and excellent gas range in the fully equipped kitchen. The owners have been great to work with both times we visited. Miles of beach to walk on although not swimmable right at the house; however, it is a short drive to Los Frailes or Los Arbolitos for excellent swimming and snorkeling. This may not be the place for you if you love the club scene but if you want quiet and great natural beauty this is it. Highly recommended!!
Our home is located approx. 6 miles south of Los Frialies and 8 miles south of Cabo Pulmo, and 1 mile south of Castillio de Arena in the Boca del Salado community.
