The Coquina - Come Find Out Why It's a Favorite:

The Coquina is a small, well-maintained community with 42 residences, only half of which are available for rental. Guests make The Coquina their home away from home year after year. The building exterior, stairways and balconies were all completely redone a few years ago. The Coquina owners take good care of their property and ask that their guests do too! It is a v-shaped complex and our condo is the second from the North end--there is absolutely nothing between you and the beach!

The Coquina offers a large sparkling blue swimming pool, a smaller one for kids, and an oceanfront deck with comfortable lounges, deck chairs and umbrellas. The pools were resurfaced in 2014. Picture yourself lounging around the pool with the dunes, the wide sandy beach, and the surf all right there!

For a change of pace, watch the sunset over the Intracoastal Waterway while you grill your meal and dine on the building's shared upper deck. The condo also offers tennis and basketball courts.

Crescent Beach: Room to Play!

Surfing, boogie boarding, sailboarding, surf fishing, sea kayaking, bicycling, jogging, kite flying, frisbee and football, shell collecting, exploring--Crescent Beach is open for all these activities but never seems crowded. Crescent Beach is nesting ground to sea turtles, so stay on the lookout and you might see some hatch. Dolphins are also often seen jumping the waves in the distance, and birders can observe many different species of shore birds.

Historic St. Augustine is Minutes Away:

St. Augustine offers many options for visitors. You can take the trolley to explore the city which is full of history, great shopping and excellent restaurants. You can simply stroll the old streets with colonial Florida architecture and discover boutiques, sweet shops, street musicians, and artists, or visit the many tourist attractions including trolley tours, horse and buggy tours, the Old Spanish Fort, the Living History Museum and the Colonial Quarter developed by University of Florida, The Alligator Farm, Ripley Believe It Or Not Museum, evening 'ghost' tours, The Fountain of Youth, Potters Wax Museum, Lightner Museum, Flagler College with its beautiful towers and Tiffany stained-class windows, The Old Jail, The Oldest Schoolhouse, and the Lighthouse and Museum, just to name a few!

Great Restaurants Up and Down the Beach!

You might imagine that there are lots of really good seafood restaurants in St. Augustine and the beaches--and there are. Most are casual and each have a distinctive flavor and style--O'Steen's for fried shrimp, Saltwater Cowboys for fresh catch and frozen drinks right on the Intracoastal at sunset, Oasis for a beachy sports bar with fried shrimp, fish sandwiches, and key lime and peanut butter pie (my daughter's favorite), Florida Cracker Cafe in the historic district for grouper sandwiches and salads and live guitar music after dark, and beachside Sunset Grill for local color, blackened catch of the day, salads, and Minorcan red clam chowder, just blocks from the condo.

There's Paula's for burgers right next to the surfboard rental, Napoli's Pizza for New York style pizza delivered to your door, and Red Frog and McToad's for breakfast or casual dining. In St. Augustine the Columbia Restaurant serves authentic Spanish cuisine in a very memorable atmosphere, La Pentola serves continental cuisine to rave reviews, and Casa Monica hosts a wonderful Sunday brunch and a martini bar. All are located in the historic district. For cocktails on the water, try Conch House and Resort or Kingfish Grill. Both are located alongside marinas, so you can watch the sailboats and yachts. Gypsy Cab Co. continues to please steak lovers.

There are also many more casual restaurants and bars along the A1A bypass along St. Augustine Beach.

There are many other restaurants for steaks, Italian, or vegetarian fare. Find your favorite or pick up some fresh shrimp or fish and grill it yourself on one of the upper deck grills. Expect to eat well while you are here!

Nature, Fishing and Golf at its Best:

Active visitors enjoy boating, sailing, sea kayaking or guided kayak and boat excursions along the Intracoastal Waterway, hiking through the many nature preserves and trails, bird-watching, bike rental, surf board rental and lessons, deep sea fishing and jet skiing. Rent a bike or a surfboard nearby, join a kayaking ecotour, hike through the gardens at Washington State Oaks, fish off Flagler Pier or at Matanzas Inlet, or visit Marineland Research Center to see more marine life up close. Don't miss the climb to the top of the Old Lighthouse--the view is well worth the effort!

Numerous highly-rated golf courses are open to our guests. The St. Augustine area is truly a golfer's paradise.

Major Area Attractions:

Crescent Beach is close to Orlando and its theme parks, Jacksonville, and Daytona Beach, all of which have airports convenient for out of town visitors.

About Lauren Richardson

Thank you for visiting! The owners Barry and Lauren Richardson welcome you to this spectacular property which their family has enjoyed for many years. Over the years, many changes have taken place, but The Coquina remains a cherished destination for family and guests who return year after year.

Lauren Richardson purchased this condo in 1973

Why Lauren Richardson chose Crescent Beach

Barry's mother, Caroline, chose this property on Crescent Beach as her personal retreat many years ago. Crescent Beach provides a healthy and family-friendly nature experience. The proximity to St. Augustine adds opportunity for historical and cultural exploration. There's no better place for recreation, rejuvenation, and relaxation. For all these reasons, we keep this retreat in the family and offer it to others to enjoy!

What makes this condo unique

Our favorite times at the Coquina are sunrise and sunset. We love walks on the beach at dusk, especially after a storm. Take in an awesome sunset over the Intracoastal Waterway, fall asleep to the sounds of the waves, or wake up to an ocean sunrise from your bedroom window. The pristine, wide beach at Crescent Beach is perfect for all your beach activities, and the natural beauty of the dunes and the shoreline are well-preserved. Bird watch, ride a bike, fly a kite, learn to surf, go fishing, play golf or tennis, then take a break and head into St. Augustine for history, culture, restaurants and shopping. For a true 100% beachfront experience and comfortable, casual Florida style, and so many world-class destinations nearby, we don't think you can find a better condo than this one!

Guestbook comments from the owner

From our guest book:

Sadly, last day of our vacation and packing to leave. We absolutely loved it--our little beach cottage. We loved the art decor. It was absolutely charming and so comfortable, but most of all the spectacular views of the ocean from everywhere in this place! We had a very relaxing and peaceful and fun stay here! Disney World and Universal studios, shopping, morning walks on the beach, collecting shells, sightseeing at the spectacular historic district and then last night our "seafood night" out. This was a very memorable time we won't soon forget. Thank you.

Wonderful location!

  • 5 of 5

My sisters and I really loved the location for this condo. The beach was beautiful. St. Augustine downtown area is relatively close and an easy drive. The condo itself had plenty of room - loved having 2 bathrooms for 4 women! The condo was well equipped with everything we needed. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice condo in perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

We found the condo to be very clean & well stocked with all the ammentities of home! It is direct oceanfront with a beautiful view. The drive into old town St. Augustine was a straight shot & probably 15 minutes. There are several locally owned restaurants nearby. We would definitely stay here again when in the area.

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Gorgeous view of the beach.

  • 4 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay in the condo. It's about a 15 minute drive into old town St. Augustine. Master king bed confortable. Didn't sleep in second bedroom but just sitting on the beds they didn't seem as nice. New upstairs bathroom. The kitchen had pots and pans and 2 casserole dishes. Plenty of dinner ware. There is a coffe pot but no coffee. Only salt, pepper, and sugar so you'll need to bring or buy everything else. Would stay again.
