Our neighborhood has all you need for shopping with an excellent choice of food and fashion and boasts a large number of art galleries, bistros and restaurants.
The apartment is situated in a former office/atelier 8 floor building constructed early 20th century now entirely converted into high class apartments and studios. The building was designed by the famous architect Guimard (who desiged the art nouveau decorations of the Paris Metro). Our duplex loft apartment is composed of a 2nd floor (3rd floor US) space with: entrance, a well equipped kitchen, dining, reading, and working areas, and a sofa corner with TV and music, plus separate toilet and a bathroom. The sofa is convertible and sleeps two. Stairs lead down to the 1st floor with the master bedroom, an office/dressing, plus master bathroom with toilet. The apartment is facing south with windows at its entire length and is full of light all year around. It is in a very safe area, lively in daytime and evening, quiet at night. Access to our building is protected by a door code system and the apartment has a security lock.
The apartment was fully renovated less than 10 years ago in a contemporary style maintaining the old wooden floors. It is equipped with all what you need for a comfortable short or longer stays. The rental fee is all-inclusive and covers high quality linens and towels, and one cleaning per week.

We are a French/Danish couple and both of us are freelancing. We travel a lot for business and leisure and when out of town for longer periods we put our private apartment up for rent.
Erik purchased this Apartment in 2000
Why Erik chose Enfants-Rouges
We chose to buy this apartment because of its beauty, its space and its location in one of the most attractive areas in Paris.

Local Services & Businesses
The apartment is gorgeous, comfortable, and in the best neighborhood in Paris! Both floors are flooded with light from huge windows in every room (although the blinds can make it perfectly dark at night), and it’s a joy look up and down Rue de Bretagne to the many cafés, restaurants, and flower shops. We appreciated the beautiful furnishings and the wine and baguette on our arrival, as well as the recommendation for the best croissants in Le Marais. The apartment is up two flights of stairs, but the elevator is great for moving luggage in and out. It’s also special to stay in a building of architectural significance (designed by Hector Guimard). Thank you for the wonderful time! We hope to be back soon.
We love this apartment!
This is our second stay in this beautiful apartment in the Marais. We absolutely love this apartment. This time friends joined us for the week. Having beds and bathrooms on two floors gave both couples privacy. The kitchen and dining area accommodated our meals together. The piano is an added attraction for me. The location is ideal. It is a real Parisian experience to be on Rue Bretagne. The markets and cafes are abundant and excellent. We had fresh pastries from the boulangerie every morning. From the apartment one can walk to many attractions on the right and left bank, and there are at least four metro stops close by that will take you everywhere. Eric and Simone are gracious and accommodating. The whole experience was perfectly wonderful. I hope we will return again.
Thank you and we hope to see you soon again in Paris
Wonderful apartment. We will go again if available
Right in the heart of the Marais. As it is owner managed it was just like being at home. Plenty of towels and sheets and the owners made the place so very comfortable and they were friendly and caring. Many household items were left for us so we did not have to run out to buy any bathroom and kitchen essentials. Lots of books to read. Just steps away from two Metro stations and several more a little further away. Great little shops to buy food and other items to bring to the apartment or eat out in the many little cafes and restaurants around. The cheese shop down the road will vacuum pack to take overseas.
Some people mentioned the noise level, but it on a main street and in a city but it was shut out when the windows were closed. But it was also nice to stand at the window and watch the people go by.
The Marche d'enfants rouges is two blocks over and the Picasso Museum close by as are other art galleries. Don't miss Jacques Genin for their wonderful chocolates and caramels and the Pierre Herme store as you walk towards the river.
Building has an elevator and is secure. We've been to Paris for the last three years and this is one apartment we will return to.
We really enjoyed our stay and met up with the owners again when they visted New York. We will definitely try to adjust our next visit to Paris based on availability of this apartment.
Oasis in the Haute Marais
We were delighted with our stay in the apartment. Our initial contact with the owners could not have been clearer, more professional or kinder. The process of arranging the rental and our arrival was most civilized, and the owners were onsite at our arrival to introduce us to the ins and outs of the loft. The “customer service” was outstanding. It seemed we were treated more like friends than customers.
The street is busy with a café below, introducing some noise. The owners recommended we keep the windows closed to minimize noise, and since there are fans above each bed living with closed windows was possible. However, we preferred hearing some of the street noise making our connection to Parisian life more intimate. The pace of city life could be felt along this vibrant street. Each morning we went to one boulangerie for our baguette, another (Poilâne’s) for our croissants, across the street for fresh fruit and just beyond for wonderful cheese. Ah, what a magnificent location, yet far from the maddening crowds of tourists.
The spacious, by Parisian standards, apartment itself is filled with personality with hundreds of books, delightful and quirky artwork, a piano, and an entire wall of windows for “Paris gazing." The kitchen is small and efficient, just steps away from the dining table where four of us shared breakfast, dinner, and stories of our adventures of the day.
The street cafés are convenient and friendly, bus 96 was a very short walk away, and metro stations within a few blocks. While public transportation is convenient we enjoyed walking to Place de la République, Canal St. Martin, Ile de la Cité, Centre Pompidou, and on an especially ambitious day, the Arc de Triomphe. In our sixties the last walk was admittedly long leaving us to take the Metro for our return.
Without hesitation we have recommended the apartment to friends and colleagues.
Civilised market street
Being situated on a market street immediately above a café runs the risk of a little noise, but that’s a small price for being in the Marais, literally a few steps from several cafes, four or five bakers (including Poilâne), three or four wineshops, excellent cheese shop, Italian, Greek and French traiteurs, not to forget the butcher across the road. We popped over to breakfast at Rose's Bakery, and lunch and more than one dinner at Le Bougnat, with the wife in the kitchen, husband chatting to customers. You need to book at neo-bistro Les Enfants Rouges in rue de Beauce. And that’s before mentioning the Enfants Rouges market itself, mainly with prepared dishes of all varieties. No need to go hungry.
For a month, we went too all parts of Paris, and needed only occasional Metro trips, what with the useful bus nearby, but mainly because we could walk everywhere.
As the plan of the delightful apartment shows, it is sunny (even in December-January), and relatively spacious for Paris with one bedroom downstairs and the privacy of distance to the other, doubling as tv room. With dining, offices with desks, places for lounging, the apartment itself could not be more civilised, nor the owners.
This coming summer will be the third time my wife and I have stayed in the loft. We've both lived in Paris in the past, and return for annual visits of a couple of weeks, usually renting apartments. We find both the loft and the location ideal -- a terrific market street good bakers, food stores, pharmacies, etc, and a clutch of excellent and unpretentious bistros within a few hundred meters in any direction -- haute cuisine, basse couture. A few minutes walk to the Marais but spared the hordes of tourists and shoppers who overrun the rue des francs bourgeois on weekends and summer days; a short walk, too, to the Canal St Martin, where young Parisians hang out on warm summer evenings, and near to metro stops and busses that will get you anywhere conveniently. The loft is clean, bright and airy with much more room than the typical Parisian apartments, which tend to range between tiny and minuscule. The owners are helpful and attentive. Je reccomende!
