The Palms is a 33 unit tower located at the serene and upscale north end of Jaco Beach, Costa Rica. This fully furnished and amenity filled 6th floor end unit provides 1400 sf of upscale living for up to 5. On the balcony you enjoy ocean breeze living and views of Jaco and it's 2 mile long beach, all fronted by the Pacific Ocean.
From the front door step into your vacation home, and let your eyes follow the first view of the spacious kitchen/living room and the blue ocean you see prominently through the double doors to the balcony. This balcony is different than any other in Palms. And the Palms unquestionable have the best balconies in Jaco. 604 is not the top unit on the Palms’ south tower, just one below and no eaves dripping after rain, or roofline extension affecting camera shots or ocean view. And what a view! Because the xx4 units at the Palms aren’t on a property line, our left hand side is not a wall but open view with more balcony rail. That simple fact gives us incredible breeze access and views of not only the beach and Pacific Ocean, but all 2 miles of Jaco Beach and the surrounding mountains. The sun comes up over the eastern mountains to the left and beautiful sunsets over the center rail on its right side to the west. Yes it’s an east-south-west panoramic view.
There is always a breeze and plenty to look at and admire from that balcony. High enough not to hear much human banter from below but open and low enough to hear the waves greeting the beach. Also it seems we are at optimal height for fly by the Scarlet Macaws, frequently going by at eye level. I am not just saying that. It is true!
At night during a clear night you get a night sky that will have you learning constellations. Orion the hunter, Cassiopeia and the Southern Cross are favorites. But, wait a moment, you haven't even stepped past the foyer at the kitchen.
So the kitchen is fully operational with all the appliances and utensils you will need, including a one button microwave for the quick eats. But there is no reason to cook while in Jaco with all the different restaurants for all budgets, and many choices of cuisines. If you want to save some money, and cooking is your way to relax with friends and family, our kitchen is fully equipped and gives you all that you need to feed the “herd”. And if by chance there is something we dont have, and need, you can buy or bring it for less than $50 with receipt and we will gladly reimburse you for that contribution.
Your full table meals can be cooked or almost any restaurant will do take out and delivery to be served on the 3 chair granite bar, or quaintly with table cloth and candlelight on the balcony and the 4 chair wooden table
The living room includes entertainment center with DVD player, music system, blue tooth sound bar and 18” HK superb quality speaker that can used for phone calls, or music play, Of course we have WiFi and cable TV via wall mounted 55" UHD Smart TV and comparable smaller units in bedrooms. All TVs have DVD players options. And of course, plenty of DVDs for the rainy days.
The master bedroom has private access to the balcony and private full bath. The large guest bedroom has classic picture frame mountain views and shares its full bath with the rest of the living area. The guest bedroom includes a queen bed and a single twin bed to easily provide sleeping for 3. A queen size auto inflate air mattress with linens provided the option for another or if you simply need to have privacy with separate arrangements.
For additional guest, up to 5/6 total, other options are provided by recliner sleep in our built in 5 recliners in the living room suite, or outside sofa sleeping.
Each bedroom is equipped with 42/32 inch flat screen HD TVs, with Roku streaming option. The master bedroom has king bed (voted best ever) and quality linens to ensure the sleep that starts with sound/feel of the surf rolling into the shore. Before the waves can withdraw back to the ocean you are floating on the cool gentle ocean breeze into a sleep you waited a year to have.
That's how easy and deep my sleep is here compared to my old life, and how different I bet your first night will be here away from the high intensity of life in your North American world.
The bedrooms both have large closets for hanging clothes, and are stocked with extra linens, variety of towels, pillows and a hotel safe. There is also an iron and ironing board for what I don’t know but it’s option during your stay. I have learned the electric washer and dryer closet can provide that vacation suitable smooth clothing look quickly. But the iron is for that occasional need you may have.
The bathrooms include high flow shower head and rapid recovery 40' gallon water heater, hairdryer and a
makeup mirror for that added convenience.
The main area and guest bedroom
share a full bathroom to provide restroom service for all visitors and guest in your unit during your stay in Jaco.
Most guest end up spending much of the day on the 300 sf covered balcony. That is until the hotter part of day puts us all in front of the energy efficient air conditioning system. It works fast, and separate room controls keeps everyone happy. During that part of the midday try any soft place for a cool drink and a refreshing siesta!! It's vacation time in Jaco.
The services of our on site manager, Gabriel Herrara & Associates will always insure friendly advice on the do's and dont's - and always with the respect you deserve.
Our pool partner and adjacent neighbor, Crocs Resort & Casino is the biggest thing to happen in Costa Rica tourism since Zip lines. With our jointly owned pool complex and Casino we at The Palms wonder how you could go anywhere else to find the perfect setting for your vacation experience.
The surrounding area provides something for everyone, from gambling, shopping, dining, to world class sport fishing, surfing, canopy zip-line, white water rafting, crocodile tours (relax- different rivers!), Eco-tours in national parks and many other adventure tours that can only be enjoyed in Costa Rica! Our concierge Lupe has been working with us for most of her 7 years in the tourism industry, and will assist you with everything needed to enjoy your vacation, regardless if you are seeking pure relaxation, or excitement and adventure! Surfing, white water, eco-touring and fishing here is world class!!
Easy access from San Jose Airport using one of the many very friendly and reliable shuttle service taxis and vans with the new modern toll highway is something that we highly recommend!! Leave the driving off your duty list on this vacation! The modern highway provides predictable speed limit ride - 1.5 hour from SJO airport in San Jose to Jaco! If you need rental cars we have plenty of vendors in Jaco. All the big ones are here or 5 miles away at the nearby Los Suenos Marina and Resort. That facility with its shops, restaurants, Marriott and 18 hole golf course are just good company for the biggest international Marina north of the Panama Canal.
Directions to Jacó...
The toll road from San Jose to Puntarenas, aka "Harbour Highway" is evidence that Costa Rica wants to see more traveling tourist to go West! This highway (CR 27) completed in 2010 is the fastest route to Jacó from the airport and San Jose. There are several ways to access the new highway, and the best route depends upon where you are picking up your rental car. The rental agency should be able to provide a map to the highway. Once you're on the highway, it is a straight shot to Orotina. After about 45 minutes and just past the toll booth in Orotina, you exit right, take the cloverleaf to the roundabout and continue south for about 30 minutes on the coastal highway (CR34) to Jacó. Depending where you access the highway and how many toll booths you hit, the toll costs run $3 - $5 total.
You can also take the old highway (CR 3) over the Aguacate Mountains. It is a steeper and more windy road, but quite scenic if you are acustomed to driving in Costa Rica. From the Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO), take the Bernardo Soto Carretera (Hwy 1) north toward San Ramon. Exit at La Garita and follow signs to Carara National Park, Atenas & Orotina. Continue on this road through La Garita and the towns of Atenas, San Mateo and Orotina. As you pass through Orotina, follow the signs to Jacó. Stay on this road until the toll booth. Just past the toll booth, exit right and follow the signs for Jacó. Drive time from the airport to Jacó is about 2 to 3 hours, depending on truck traffic.
For those of you who would rather leave the driving to someone else, we have wonderful and trustworthy bilingual drivers that can pick you up at the airport or shuttle you anywhere in the country.
From almost any major airport in the US you can book a non stop flight to San Jose, Costa Rica and take reliable shuttle service from there to Jaco. Be in the condo and on the Pacific Ocean in 4-7 hours, depending on your point of origin. From Atlanta on Delta we are oceanfront in 5 hours!! But not any ocean, and not any place. This is Jaco, Costa Rica, and that is the Pacific Ocean. A world away and in paradise - in 5 hours!
What are you waiting for? And yes, I had that same feeling the first time, and every time since when I see this beach from my balcony. I get that same rush and appreciate that this country is only 5 hours from my first home in Atlanta, Georgia.
Now that is a vacation worth experiencing at least once in a lifetime!!!
We will be glad to assist you in all aspects of your travel arrangements.

I am willing to share it with you and will negotiate at every opportunity to get you in. Your interest and final stay in my place affords me a chance to come more often, defray some of my ownership costs, and hopefully make a few friends along the way!!
Amy Shumate or Butch Register purchased this Condo in 2010
Why Amy Shumate or Butch Register chose Barrio Los Faroles
Enjoy tropical paradise in its most powerful natural splendor! Jaco is an easy 1500 ' walk south but our northern beachfront is different in its natural setting and the rocks in the surfzone are obvious eye candy. But on the broader comparisons we have better SAND!! This is due to predominant ocean currents distributing lighter sediments and finer sands on the north end. The resultant larger tide transition beach gives us a better walking and activities base experience at low or high tide. There is also a large river and lagoon to the north, viewable in some of the pictures. The 7 foot tide change twice a day reveals dynamic natural hydrologic patterns and associated forage by waterfowl, wildlife and fisheries in the lagoon and adjacent mountain jungles.
What makes this Condo unique
We are located at the quiet north end, and now our new neighbor, Crocs is providing quality retail shops and 5 star restaurant options with a share in their world class pool center. Things are looking up with Crocs as our amenity center next door, and getting louder next door if thats what you want - but come home to The Palms!

Amazing Waterfront Condo
Really loved our accommodations in Jaco. The condo was great and had an amazing view.
What a View!
First, the place was amazing, the balcony was the size of a NY apartment. We were out and about enjoying Costa Rica most of the day and should had spent more time on the balcony enjoying the panoramic views from the balcony. You can literally see all of Jaco beach and since this is a corner unit you have views of the hillside.
The owner was awesome. You do not need to bring anything with you because he has everything stocked (obviously I am not referring to food). He had all the towels/linens/toiletries so you don't need to waste space in your suitcase bringing them into the country or waste time buying them when you arrive. The unit was extremely spacious and we get to use the Croc Casino facilities including the gorgeous pool. Butch also provided travel and tour recommendations. We will definitely use his place again if we ever go back to Jaco.
Wilson, Thank you very much for your review. I am obviously happy with your opinion about the condo and the community. The tours you went to are the same ones I had just taken my family on in December. It is a magical place and anytime you want to come back please know I would be so happy if you would give me a chance to have you all again. I could make it a good package now that you know your way around. The best season is all year, except September October. And they are great if rains mostly at night. Otherwise it’s all good.
Wilson, and his family were the best kind of guests. They planned their trii so they knew what they were doing. They did almost all the good tour things early in trip so they could relax on the off days and enjoy the condo and it’s percs. I was pleased to meet them and enjoyed their stay very much.
We stayed in condo the month of March. For just over a week there were 4 people and the last 3 weeks only 2 of us. The condo has great views of Jaco and the ocean. Great oversized balcony where we relaxed while watching and listening to the ocean waves. We saw Scarlett Macaws fly past daily at eye level. We did the short walk to Monkey Beach and saw the capuchin monkeys eating and playing in the trees.
The kitchen is fully equipped. Air conditioners in all rooms if you require more than the ocean breeze. The use of Crocs pool was a great bonus. While it is located on the northern part of the beach it is a nice stroll along the beach into town or a $2.00 taxi ride. We would recommend this condo.
Sandra/Jeff, thank you for nice words and compliments. We do work hard to make the unit ready for each guest. And the balcony is the best part of all our units at The Palms, but especially us xx4’s with open left instead of wall. I do thank you for being such nice people and taking good care of the unit. It was our pleasure to have you and IF you ever come back please know we treat return guests with special care and discount rates.
Lupe said to say Hello as well.
The damage deposit has been fully refunded. The electricity usage was not very high for the hottest month of the year. So it’s on the house! That was the gift I promised you. Use it for a good night out when it warms up back home.
Lovely Condo, great Location
We just returned from a fabulous 8 day trip to Costa Rica over the Christmas Break. We traveled with our 2 children who have food allergies and rented Condo 604 at the Palms. The owner responded to our inquiry very quickly and we were able to book very fast. The property manager Lupe is amazing. She contacted us prior to our trip and helped reserve all our tours and transfers. The tours she reserved were so professional. We had excellent tour guides and drivers. Lupe even helped us by getting a few groceries on the day we landed to help us ease into the condo and gave us recommendations on places to eat. The owner is wonderful and stopped by and checked in to see if we were comfortable and gave us some tips for the area.
The condo itself is far more impressive in person. It's really spacious . The outdoor massive deck is priceless. We woke up every morning and had coffee on the the couch . The condo has everything you need to make your stay very comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with utensils, pots and pans, dinnerware. The two rooms were very spacious with ample room to store your clothes. Both bathrooms had rain showers and were big as well. There is air conditioning in every room and we needed it as Jaco was quite hot this past week. It was wonderful having the washer dryer as well. Crocs Resort is just next door. There is an easy access from the rental unit to the resort. They have beautiful pools and restaurants. We spend many afternoons at the pool and ordering snacks and drinks poolside. It's about a 15 minute walk into downtown Jaco where there are so many restaurants, ice cream shops, coffee shops and shopping . You can also get a taxi very easily . We have started using VRBO as it's a much safer way for us to travel internationally given our children have food allergies. The kitchen was so helpful for us to fix quick safe meals for them and still be able to enjoy such a lovely country. We would highly recommended staying here when you visit Costa Rica. Pura Vida
I will make it short. I respect the time and privacy of my guests so I try to meet them after check in, and then not intrude again. But some people are just so nice you want to go back and hang out. This family became friends with me in just a few minutes. Very nice people. They left the unit like they found it.
It is reassuring to meet such nice people, traveling together and being happy!
Excellent stay at the Palms in 604
Really enjoyed this condo in Jaco. Butch is a great host and his assistant Lupe was fantastic in sending me all the info I needed and setting up transportation from/ to San Jose.
The condo is clean, spacious and well equipped. The living room has new very nice furniture with big HD tv with English capable stations. The beds are comfortable in both bedrooms and both have big HD TV's. The kitchen is spacious with all the utensils you need with big refrigerator and seating at kitchen counter. Both bathrooms have spacious showers and plenty of towels. When needed the A/C system cools the condo quickly.
The outdoor balcony is great and has plenty of table seating and a very comfortable couch.
The view is fantastic as you can see all of Jaco, the beach & ocean with awesome sunsets and the mountain range.
Beach chairs, towels & ice chest are provided.
Having access to Croc's is a plus as they have a nice pool with bar, sports bar, excellent food at their restaurants and gambling all next door to the Palms.
The Palms is on the quiet end of town but only a nice walk or short cab ride to the middle of town.
This is another fantastic example of how lucky and great some parts of my life are now in Costa Rica. I get to meet the nicest people looking for the real fun and sun that we share from our condo in Jaco. Will was experienced with town and our project but not this property. We are now happy to be friends. He will get that special deal next time, like all our repeat clients. Besides, He is neat and easy to please so we like these kinds of clients. We first take care of the business arrangement and then we enjoy him and his excellent personality. Same formula we used on the last 43 similar clients. All we have to do is make it clean and ready. The Palms takes care of the rest. All our units are good. This man Will is truly a good guy. Like Charles and Leo with Kim before I have enjoyed the November December like no other. We look forward to seeing Will again next year. Alll of our guests seem to be the nicest people, It must be something in the water! Lupe and I are similar in our thoughts about the guests. We want them to enjoy the condos and any tours they want to do in our area . Lupe makes all that happen. Yea this is a good life. The Condo is the Business but the people really make the smiles! Will was such a great guy and he was a pleasure to get to know. My newest friend is hopefully coming back soon. While Atlanta won this game I
am certain that New Orleans will win one soon and then I will have to be the gracious loser so he can enjoy his team win. Just like he did for me! Come back soon, and bring your Drew Brees with you. But no more needles to the eye of my Matt Ryan doll! Please. Why else would Matty Ice throw two ridiculous interceptions. Drew did his with no mojo from me.
This was an excellent place to stay... Well appointed, clean, breezy, great view ... Loved it
I received a very quick response from my inquiry on the property from Butch the owner. Butch is a good guy and has the assistance of Lupe, a great young lady. Three days before I left for the property I was hospitalized for a week. Butch was very understanding and was kind enough to modify my reservation and pricing.
Lupe the property manager was waiting for me when I arrived. Given I was still recuperating Lupe went to the grocery store for me to pick up some basics.
Lupe and Butch both made sure I understood how everything worked phones, internet, tv, etc.
It was nice that some basic stuff was waiting when I got there...coffee creamer and sugar..plus a bunch of filled ice trays
The condo is beautiful and has very comfortable furniture. First couple of days it was hard not to fall asleep to the ocean sounds and beautiful cool breezes.
It has a great view of the ocean and easy access to the beach or the huge resort next door.
There is 24 hour security at the building. The building was quiet and not a bunch of loud partiers.
I really enjoyed my month there and wish that I could have extended it in that condo. But both butch and Lupe worked to find me a place for the next month.
Both great people and a great place to stay...heck yeah I would.reccomend it and heck yeah I would stay there again.
Charles, first has become my friend because no way I could ever meet a better kinder cooler human being with a better heart and attitude about anything yu could talk about. As normal and capable as they come Charles is just a very kind man. I thank him for the nice words. But in truth this should be about Charles is the 5 star person and I would like to be friends with him the rest of my life. Great guy!!
