We bought this condo intending to retire there in a few years. We are avid travelers but love our current East San Diego base. We are looking forward to moving closer to Balboa Park, restaurants and all that is within walking distance of the condo. We hope you enjoy our home as much as we do!

Our condo is perfectly located. Close to all but situated high enough up and on a quiet street to offer a residential feel. Walk to the spectacular Balboa Park with it's Zoo, Restaurants, Museums and amazing architecture. Within walking distance to 25 restaurants and bars. You won't be disappointed in your stay!
This is a great location close to Balboa Park, restaurants and even a Pilates studio. Easy access to downtown, the bay and freeways to explore San Diego. All the amenities in the bath and kitchen were plentiful and modern. Repairs were made promptly and professionally. The only thing the unit needs is a full length mirror.
The Alicante building in Banker's Hill / Hillcrest neighborhood is by far the most well kept, secure, clean, and detailed high rise building in the area. The residents and management are all warm and friendly. We liked the location…a five minute walk to the Old Globe, Balboa Park, Zoo, Croce's Jazz Club, and San Diego's Hillcrest neighborhood with many great restaurants and bars. Grocery Shopping is close by, as is the Bus which stops in front of the building. It is a 5 minute drive to the airport and an $8. Uber fare. The underground parking (2) is very secure and the check in procedure simple and fast 24/7. Once you open the door to this beautiful flat you are immediately struck with the remarkable 270 degree views stretching from Balboa park to La Jolla, including the airport which is entertaining all day as you watch the jets weave between San Diego's towers. They are not loud as you are quite a distance from the airport itself. The view of San Diego's Big Bay is commanding and you can watch the many large ships arrive and depart…even the aircraft carriers and Cruise liners. The evening views are stunning as you are high atop downtown San Diego…the living room is large, the home entertainment center fantastic, with plenty of books to read on the shelves. There are two decks that include a full size BBQ and seating which is perfect for morning coffee or meals. The Kitchen complete with everything you need including a Keurig coffee maker and a view ! Both bedrooms have spectacular views from the beds, complete with televisions and roomy closets. The bathrooms are large with plenty of soap and towels. Internet worked fast and the motorized shades on the windows very convenient. Air conditioning kept us cool all day and night and there is even a small office cubby with a printer, paper, and extra ink. The owners really paid attention to detail down to the art on the walls. We loved our stay here and will be back many more times in the future. You can't stay in this level of luxury at this price anywhere in the world, let alone beautiful San Diego. A big THANK YOU !
This place is where some rich executive would live. AMAZING views, great tvs, modern furnishings with a 24 hour gym! Within walking distance to a lot of restaurants. 2 parking spots. You WONT find anything better than this place. Will definitely come back again if available!!!!
My Wife, Myself and our Handicapped Son stayed at this condo for 11 days and it was amazing!!! The place was spotless and had everything in there that you could possibly wish for. The views are amazing from everywhere in this condo, which has two balconies. There is plenty of space and the beds, the seating and everything else is so comfortable. This condo was cheaper than a Hotel downtown. If you like 5 star and Luxury give Janellas condo a try. We had a great time and James greeted us and showed us how everything worked, and even dropped off some batteries the next day for the TV remotes.

My family (husband, daughter is 3, and myself) as well as my parents stayed here last week on our family vacation to San Diego to sight see. Location of rental is right next to Balboa park and so close to lots of places to eat (make sure to go to Hash House a Go Go) and sight seeing things to do.
Janella and James were great to work with. There was even some issues with the tv while we were there and James was able to come same day and get it resolved.
There was a full kitchen and we were able to cook breakfasts and dinners there which was nice. There is a large top and bottom washer and dryer where we were able to keep up with laundry.
Beds were super comfortable. Parking is in a super secure parking garage under the building.
Great views from the 12th floor balconies and even from laying in bed ... you can see planes comes in to the airport, can see the lights of downtown, watching boats come in in the harbor.
Would ABSOLUTELY stay here if go to San Diego again!
We were the first couple to rent this place in Dec 2010, finding it just a few days after it was first listed. The original home we'd rented got flooded in last year's storms, and we needed to find a replacement fast. What a lucky break! Back for a long stay in 2011. There's a lot to like here besides the first class apt. The workout room downstairs. The secure underground garage. Whole Foods and the Sunday Farmer's Market a healthy walk away. We've rented 21 VRBO's and HomeAway's to date and this one is #2. (#1 is a two-bed apt two blocks behind Notre Dame in Paris.) We love this place but hate the competition for dates this review will help create. BTW: James K is a joy to work with.
