About the property

Townhome, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

This beautiful, newly renovated, two-story town home sits on the Caribbean sea. Its patio offers breathtaking ocean views and cool gentle breezes.

The town home is located on West Bay Street (the main road on the northern coast of the island). It is a few minutes stroll from the beautiful Love Beach, a long stretch of secluded beach. At low tide you can take a dip into the ocean directly from the complex. The location is a haven for snorkeling, with a reef not far from shore.

The townhouse has a tropical modern zen feel, combining bright and cool colors, modern amenities, with an emphasis on the natural environment and native building materials.

The first floor has a modern open layout, with a full kitchen (with all the conveniences of home), dining area (can seat up to ten), living room space (with flat screen television). Furnishings are tasteful and are enhanced by contemporary Bahamian art work and furniture design.

The top floor, with natural Abaco pine flooring, has two bedrooms. The master bedroom, overlooking the sea, has a queen-sized bed and en suite bathroom. The second bedroom has two twin beds and a separate bath. Sheets and towels are provided.

The unit, in a quiet complex with only three surrounding town homes, is fully air-conditioned, with parking, and an in-unit laundry.

The condo is located in an historically and culturally significant area. It is very close to the Compass Point Recording Studio – where musical greats like Bob Marley, Grace Jones, and Sly and Robbie recorded.

The town house is also close to the community of Gambier, an historic settlement in the island. At Gambier, you can buy fresh fish, conch salad, and frozen drinks. A boutique hotel and great restaurants, including the Compass Point Restaurant, Studio Cafe, Aquafire Grill, Dino's Gourmet Conch Salad, and Louis and Steen's New Orleans Coffeehouse are in close walking distance.

The location is ideal for the traveler who wants the quiet and beach-side vacation but is also interested in the rich culture of the island.

Jitneys, local buses, are accessible close to the town house, which travel to the Cable Beach casinos and shopping districts, downtown Nassau, and Paradise Island.

About The Owner

I am a cultural historian. The town house and location combine my love of the tranquility of the sea with the art and culture of the islands.

The Owner purchased this townhome in 2010

Why The Owner chose New Providence

I love the location because it is removed from the tourist-trap parts of Nassau. It feels like a family island community- the charming, un commercialized islands in the Bahamas. You can see local fisherman taking their boats out in the morning, for instance. Yet one of the nicest restaurants and a quaint resort is close at hand and accessibility to town is 15 minutes away.

Oceanside getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay condo during the holidays. The condo is beautiful and sits right on the ocean. We could see sting rays in the water from the back patio and the neighbors next to us were fishing with a fishing line. We are snorkelers, so we loved the access to the ocean from the private beach in the back of the building. Really loved all the restaurants near the condo and enjoyed taking the jitney around the island. Kris was great. Very helpful. Even offered to take us to Junkanoo. recommend highly.

Oceanside treasure off tourist path

  • 5 of 5

The photographs do not do this place justice. The ocean views are just spectacular and condo is clean and well maintained. Spent much of the time snorkeling on the reefs behind the condo. We also enjoyed using the bbq and watching the sunset on the back patio. The property manager was amazing. After we asked him where we could buy snorkels, he returned with snorkels that he had purchased for us. The condo is surrounded by several great restaurants. We enjoyed The Studio restaurant (a small gourmet restaurant in the historic Compass Point Studios) and Aqua Grill both located right across the street. The conch salad stand is nearby too-the salad is delicious but takes long to prepare. We spent a lot of time researching oceanfront condos on the island that were affordable. Happy to have found this treasure off the beaten tourist path.

Snorkelers Haven

  • 5 of 5

Four of us (2 couples) stayed 5 days in early July and had a fabulous time. Krista's suggestion page helped us find the non-tourist-trap places we really wanted to see. My husband became a regular at the nearby conch stands. I miss my daily dose of conch salad already; I liked the one on the land-side best (with pineapple and fruit), my husband liked the one on the ocean side best. This spot is GREAT for do-it-yourself snorkeling. Immediate water access from the property and plenty of fishies to see in the area. We enjoyed snorkeling the area off Love Beach as suggested in the link (plenty of ways to access that beach from walking thru Compass Point Resort to chatting up friendly guards at hotels/resorts along the beach to doing an early morning beach walk and making friends w/other friendly tourists). But we actually liked the viewing on our side of the Compass Point pier just as well or better. Saw several rays, an incredible peacock flounder, conch, and all the other "usual suspects" you expect (groupers, tangs including gorgeous blue tangs, a breath-taking black and yellow angelfish) in Caribbean waters. Best viewing is under the Compass Point pier. Makes an awesome late afternoon swim there and back on a calm day. Don't rush, just enjoy. You're on island time. Can't wait to go back to this immaculate haven for those who really just want to relax, get away and see some beautiful and new things.

Great Find

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the condo for 4 nights. It is located in an amazing location on the west end of the island, away from the touristy areas of Downtown or Atlantis. When we arrived to the condo, Ella, the property manager was there to greet us at the door. She had gone to the grocery and bought us a bag of ice, 2 containers of milk, gallon of water, carton of eggs and a loaf of bread. I can't say enough nice things about this lady. The condo was perfect for the 5 of us, one person slept on the couch. It is located on the ocean with an incredible view. It is furnished with a full kitchen, washer/dryer, iron/ironing board, linens and beach towels. The condo is within 5 minutes of walking to Compass Point Resort which is where we ate most of our meals. If planning on leaving the condo, I suggest taking the bus instead of a taxi because it is MUCH cheaper. There is a pickup at Conch Corner, about 2 doors to east. However, the bus stops running after 6 PM so make sure you plan accordingly. At low tide, there is a small area where you can access the beach from the property. Otherwise, Compass Point has a beach access at the west end of the property where you can walk to Nirvana Beach. There are some snorkeling spots right off the beach in the area but be careful for urchins. You may want to wear water shoes to avoid stepping on them. Don't plan on being in a hurry in the Bahamas; everywhere is on "island time". One place at Fish Fry took 45 minutes just to get our drinks but when we finally got the food, it was pretty tasty. Also, if you are interested in snorkeling/diving, I strongly suggest Stuart Cove's. You can call them and they will pick you up at Compass Point (free) and take you to/from the shop. Pickup times are around 8:40 AM or 12:00 PM for an approximate 4 hr trip ($65/person). Do it, it's pretty amazing and worth the money. We went to Atlantis to the casino and aquarium. The bus will take you to downtown then you can walk or catch a taxi across the bridge. If interested in aquarium, don't pay the $40, wait until the guards leave around 5PM and you can see it for free. Not if but when we go back to the Bahamas, there is no doubt that I will be contacting Krista to stay at this condo. A friend that was staying in one of the bungalows on the water at Compass Point liked our place at condo better than his own (and it was his wedding/honeymoon). Thanks again Krista and Ella.

Owner's Response: Brooke, I'm so happy you enjoyed your vacation at the condo, from the off-the-beaten-path location, to the amenities, to the ocean view, and on-site and nearby beaches. We provide basic groceries to help our guests feel settled and at home. Ella, the property manager, will appreciate your recognition of her efforts, kindness, and attentiveness. Thanks for all the information on nearby activities, from snorkeling to the nearby conch salad vendors. Your insightful review will, I'm sure, be incredibly informative to future guests. I hope to host you again in the near future!

This was an excellent vacation condo in the Bahamas. We rented from 12/29/11-01/03/12. We are a retired couple vacationing with our adult daughter. The condo was well maintained, clean and had plenty of room for us. It was right on the ocean with a great view. We really enjoyed hearing the waves crashing outside our window. Occasionally, waves would actually splash onto the patio.

The owner, Krista, provided us with information sheets about local area restaurants and attractions. We rented a car so we could travel around the island and see the sites outside of Nassau. We enjoyed smaller less expensive restaurants with authentic Bahamian food and we tried to avoid the big resort restaurants. We particularly enjoyed Traveler's Rest and Goodfellow Farms. We also enjoyed a hike around the Clifton Heritage site. The Junkanoo parade was a very special experience.

What a charming place!

  • 4 of 5

A friend of a friend told us to check this place out when we told them we were going to visit the Islands and we're glad we did! The condo has amazing panoramic sea views and there's nothing better than the sound of the ocean when you're falling asleep! The place is well decorated (great art) with a good layout and modern amenities. It is in a great location with access to bars and restaurants and transportation readily available. We will be recommending this place to all our friends and hope to stay there again when next we're in Nassau.
